The AutoEurope person who dealt with my reservation was excellent. The Europcar person @ Ivalo AIrport we dealt with when collecting a...nd returning the car was exceptionally good. I did use Europcar's free 'phone to call central Customer Service when I thought their Airport Office was closed (returning vehicle) and the man I dealt with was particularly unhelpful. Firstly offering to be at the airport within an hour, then, when he realised my flight was 3 hours away elected to come to the airport 15 mins before departure. So lazy! NOT what I call good Customer Service.
Finland occupies some of the northernmost territory in Europe. This is a country one does not visit too often. It may be off the beaten tourist path, but quite undeservedly. Finland is a Nordic gem and, although with a tendency to be on the pricey side, Auto Europe's new service, campervan hire in Finland, will cater not only for a more budget-friendly but also an extraordinary travel experience.
Travelling in Finland
Finland is surely one of the more exotic European destinations. Not every country can boast such picturesque lakes bordered by vast stretches of forests, or the crispy, rejuvenating air. The Finnish backwoods is as tranquil as it can get, and lends itself to a camping holiday. Finland has a close tie with nature, and so do the Finnish, who enjoy camping and spending their time outdoors. You will find plenty of camping sites spaced all over the country, especially in the south and along the coastline. Organise a road trip across the country with a motorhome hire in Finland.
Lapland visitors will have a special opportunity to enjoy the phenomenon known as the Midnight Sun. Your concept of time and the time passing may be challenged having a single day extend over two months. The only darkness you may witness during the phase of the Midnight Sun is a dim twilight that blankets the countryside. Summertime activities include kayaking, golf and other sports, as well as visiting beautiful, picturesque fishing villages. For golfing near the Arctic Circle, visit the camping sites Lomakeskus, Ounakoski or Uruniemi.
In winter, Finland's frozen lakes and forests are fairytale-like. Muster up courage and try camping in the wilderness in winter, and you will be awarded with an extraordinary, revitalising winter outdoors offer - trekking in the snow, husky safaris and a hot, relaxing sauna afterwards, to name only a few. The Finnish Archipelago, located off the western and southern coast, is abundant with islands. Also knowns as Turku Archipelago, it has more islands than any other archipelago on our planet, linked by either bridges or numerous water ways. Vibrant wildlife, diverse fauna and flora are guaranteed there, along with unbroken peace. One of the highlights there is surely a visit to Bengtskär, the tallest lighthouse in Northern Europe.
Adventure seekers will be pleased to know that The Guinness Book of Records lists Finland as one of the countries with the largest number of odd competitions! You can practically turn every activity into sport there - the weirder, the better. Our infographic on 9 Crazy Contests in Finland will show you some of the most curious ones.
Have fun or simply get close to nature, sit by the sea, light up a bonfire and enjoy a rejuvenating camping holiday in Finland!
