Driving Information in India

Driving Licence Requirements

The driving licence requirements in India state that you must be at least 18 years old and have a full driving licence valid in your country of residence. It is recommended to have an international driver?s licence.

Age Restrictions

To hire a car in India you must be at least 23 years old (age may vary by the car hire category) and have held your license for two years.

Road Rules and Petrol Stations

  • Seat belts when driving a hire car in India are mandatory in most places.

  • Drivers are to carry at all times while driving, a valid drivers licence, registration documents and insurance documents.
