Car hire in North Tenerife at the Best Prices

North Tenerife may not be the first destination of choice when it comes to planning your holiday but do not let it prevent you from exploring the beautiful luscious northern side of the island. Let Auto Europe assist you with finding the perfect car hire in North Tenerife.

In addition to the fantastic landscape, lots of greenery and black sand beaches of volcanic origin, North Tenerife also has man-made golden sand beaches, lush countryside and several spots fantastic for a peaceful holiday.

In North Tenerife, you can expect more tranquillity, less crowded beaches and a better insight into the local culture. With all this in mind, plan your next getaway and organise the car hire in North Tenerife for more flexibility on your trip. Use your car rental to explore even the most remote parts of the island. This can be especially rewarding if you are into adventure and photography. Due to the tourist boom in the last decade, there are many new roads being built all over Tenerife.

Be careful when driving off the motorway as roads in the mountains, although well maintained, are sometimes curvy and narrow. Watch out for pieces of rock that can fall on the road and never drive faster than allowed as it results in high fines.

Please note that the same driving laws as in Spain apply throughout the island.

All in all, Tenerife lends itself to some of the most spectacular drives on the Canaries. You will enjoy the landscape morphing from pine forests into volcano-sand beaches, and cliffs turning into small deserted hamlets scattered throughout the island.

The most popular tourist resort in North Tenerife is Puerto de la Cruz and along with the North Tenerife Airport, this is usually where your island adventure begins.

On-street parking in Puerto de la Cruz can be really difficult to find during the high season. If you are lucky enough to find a free spot, be particularly careful with the parking signs and time limits to avoid your car being towed away.

There is a free car park in the harbour where you can normally leave your car hire overnight. We recommend checking parking lots online before your trip.

    Geographic Information

Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and also part of Macaronesia, a group of islands of volcanic origin. Tenerife, thanks to its position, enjoys a mild climate year-round, with August being the hottest and January the coolest month. North Tenerife is normally a bit cooler than the south, which is dry and hot in the summer. However, the climate and more rainfall make the north of the island greener with a versatility of landscape.

    North Tenerife Airport

Tenerife-North Airport operates a large number of charter flights all year round. It will take you approximately 15 minutes to drive your car hire from Tenerife-North Airport to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, situated only seven miles further.

    Public Transportation

While car rental in Tenerife still remains the best option to get to all those parts of the island which are off the public transportation grid, there are a few bus connections you could use on your holiday.

Buses are operated by TITSA and they are popularly called guaguas by locals. To get a better deal on bus fares, be sure to purchase Bono, a discount ticket from ticket or book shops.

The north is connected to the south by bus service between Santa Cruz and Los Cristianos and Las Americas. There is also a regular bus service between Santa Cruz and Puerto de la Cruz in the north.
