Conveniently located in the heart of England, Nottingham is a very rewarding city for tourists and a place bursting with culture. Auto Europe makes the city very easily accessible with a car hire from Nottingham Train Station, allowing visitors the chance to discover its vibrant town centre which pulsates with points of interest, such as the National Justice Museum, Nottingham Industrial Museum and Nottingham Contemporary, a free-to-enter modern art gallery. Nottingham Train Station is perfectly placed for people looking to visit the city's key attractions, most notably Nottingham Castle which was originally built by William the Conqueror in 1067, a year after the Battle of Hastings. For over 140 years, the castle has housed a museum and art gallery and today, along with its vast labyrinth of subterranean caves and tunnels, it stands as one of the most popular attractions in the whole of the East Midlands area. And you simply cannot leave Nottingham without visiting Sherwood Forest, home to Robin Hood and his band of Merry Men, the most famous outlaws who never lived. And trivia fans might also be interested to know that Boots the chemist, a common sight on today’s high streets all over Britain, was founded in Nottingham by Mr John Boot who opened a shop selling herbal remedies in the city in 1849. Not long after that, Nottingham spawned the world’s first football club, Notts County, in 1862, almost thirty years before the English First Division was created.
Located due south of the city centre, with Station Street to the north and Queen’s Street to the south, Nottingham Train Station has been extensively renovated over the years, most recently after a fire that damaged much of the building in January 2018. Originally built in 1848, and later redeveloped in 1904, it is the main train terminal for the Greater Nottingham area as well as a large portion of the East Midlands region. Being a key transport hub, Nottingham train station has benefited from a series of improvements and new facilities in recent years, most notably a new platform, refurbished First-class lounge on Platform 5 (along with a new café), a brand-new ticket office located on Carrington Street, a modernised station entrance complete with a new traffic-free passenger and pedestrian area, a newly-refurbished concourse (with some of the original station’s features having been preserved) and a new southern concourse providing direct access to the multi-story car park next door to the station. Furthermore, rail passengers now have the added convenience of being able to self-print e-tickets on selected advance fares. Besides metered parking spaces being available on many of the city’s streets, visitors opting for a car hire at Nottingham Train Station will find a multi-storey car park with over 500 spaces located on Queens Road adjacent to the station. Other large-scale car parks can be found on Maid Marian Way, Canal Street, Cowan Street, Curzon Street, Huntingdon Street, Lace Market, Manvers Street, Mount Street, Sneinton Market Square, St James Street, Stoney Street, Talbot Street, Trinity Square, Upper Parliament Street, Wollaton Street and at the Victoria Centre. Train services to and from Nottingham Train Station are operated by East Midlands Trains, East Coast Trains, Cross County Trains and Northern Rail, with the latter connecting Nottingham with places as far and wide as Sheffield, Leeds, Barnsley, London, Liverpool, Birmingham, Norwich and Chesterfield.

Nottingham City Transport (NCT) runs a comprehensive network of around 330 buses all over the city, many of which stop at the railway station. NCT services are fast, friendly and efficient and the company was recently voted UK Bus Operator of the Year for the fourth time. Nottingham Express Transit (NET) is the hub of the city’s tram network, connecting visitors with the main shopping areas and tourist attractions in Nottingham and its surrounding areas. With trams running every few minutes from early morning until late at night seven days a week, there are five stops in the city centre and it takes less than eight minutes to travel across town, so it’s a quick and easy way to get around the city. Furthermore, some of the trams are linked to a number of park and ride car parks located in the outskirts, allowing quick and easy access to the city centre once you have picked up your car rental at Nottingham Train Station. For visitors using their car rental from Nottingham Train Station to access East Midlands Airport, NCT’s daily Skylink service operates between the airport and the station regularly on a daily basis. There is a taxi rank with a covered shelter outside the main Station Street entrance.
There is a 24 hour multi-storey car park on Queen’s Road adjacent to Platform 7. Disabled spaces are located on Level 2 (note that there are no disabled spaces available on level 0 or level 1). Direct access to the station is from Level 2. The car park is free for up to 20 minutes and tickets don’t have to be validated for this amount of time. Parking in Nottingham couldn't be easier with plenty of spaces at multi-storey and surface car parks throughout the city centre. Nottingham has several thousand on-street parking spaces for which a minimum fee applies in all zones and there is no maximum stay limit. Nottingham City Council also operates a growing number of cashless parking zones across Nottingham, which have been introduced to tackle a variety of parking problems, particularly commuter parking around the city's residential, retail and leisure locations. Parking tickets in these cashless locations can be purchased by using the RingGo app.
