" It took weeks to get refunds from my two failed bookings by Auto Europe (Auto Union and Avis) as neither supplier they booked with had cars available. Auto Europe have barely even apologised, and are ignoring my complaint emails and refusing to give compensation for my private in airport car rental booking which was 4 times the price of my initial booking. Left stranded with no vehicle because of their errors, and yet they won't do the decent thing of paying compensation and are just blaming their supplier. Avoid at all costs. "
" Disgusting and shameful service. The office was closed, nobody answered the phone number from the details on the office windows. Eventually a guy from Auto Union turned up and told us "Sorry, the office is closed because we have no cars, sorry it is not my fault, goodbye". A countless amount of families waiting to start their holidays just left to deal with that statement. Now when trying to receive compensation for my last minute in airport booking with another provider they are trying to claim the office was not closed and want me to provide proof I couldn't collect the car! Scum, avoid at all costs folks. "

" Misleading information given on the hire voucher. No directions provided to the Auto Union office, instead the voucher stated that the 'meeting point' was at the terminal exit behind the car hire offices. This strongly implied that Auto Union's location was somewhere off site and that we would be met on arrival and transferred to the location of the car. Our flight landed a little early and I called the Auto Union number and was told that the rep would 'be there in 15 minutes' ,so we duly waited at the meeting point. Nobody came to meet us. We waited, getting more annoyed. Finally we called the auto union number again to ask where the rep was and were told "we don't come to the terminal to meet you, you have to come to us". I pointed out that the voucher said we would be met at the exit of the terminal building. I was told this was a "mistake by Auto Europe". When we got the car, it was clear that it had been in a few minor accidents with large scrapes down the driver side front and rear doors, damage to 2 of the 4 wheel trims, and lots of dents and dings. It had clearly not been cleaned as there were still suction marks on the windscreen from the previous hirer's mobile phone mount. Nevertheless we agreed to take the car because all we wanted to do was to get on our way and enjoy our holiday. Despite giving my email address to both Auto Europe and again to Auto Union, I was not emailed a copy of the terms and conditions as promised. I signed a mobile tablet to say I had received these, but was not permitted to read them before signing the tablet. It later came to light that the rep had mistyped my email address into his system leading to the contract and terms and conditions not reaching me. I was therefore unaware of the requirement to clean the car inside and out before returning it as this stipulation had never been mentioned. On returning the vehicle Auto Union wanted to charge me an additional fee of over 40 euros which they said was stipulated in the T&Cs which they had failed to send to me. I took the car to the car wash myself and it cost me 30 zloty to clean it (about a tenth of the fee auto union felt was reasonable to charge for cleaning). Not only would that have been an extortionate fee, it was in my view wholly unethical since the car had not been cleaned to a satisfactory standard prior to my renting it. All in all it was the worst hire car experience I have had in 30 years of travel and I will not use Auto Union nor Auto Europe again. "

" I rented the car of Auto Union car rental , i was charged immideately for deposit of 800 euros , even though contract says they block 800 of the cards , (not charge it , i am still waiting for refund , and when i turned the car to another location , we discovered there was no jack or tools to change tire. car was good and had no issues. "
