" When I arrived to pick up the car, I was informed by the Pricecarz representative that a deposit of €2100 would be blocked on my credit card. I was aware of this requirement and accepted it, as it was outlined in the rental agreement with Auto Europe. However, I was then told--quite unexpectedly--that this amount would be blocked for 90 days. This came as a shock to me, as I have never encountered such a long hold period, and I believe it directly contradicts the terms provided by Auto Europe, the deposit is to be released within 30 days. When I questioned this, the Pricecarz representative--who claimed to be the manager--responded very rudely and stated that he would not rent the car to me unless I agreed to the 90-day hold. Unfortunately, as it was late on a Friday afternoon, I had no viable alternative and was essentially forced to sign the agreement under pressure in order to proceed with my travel plans. I understand that local suppliers may have their own policies, but I booked through Auto Europe in good faith, based on the conditions presented at the time of booking. For this reason, I am respectfully requesting that you contact Pricecarz on my behalf and ask them to release the credit card deposit after 30 days, as originally agreed upon in the Auto Europe rental terms. "

I am now engaged in protracted emails regarding level of proof of pre-exisiting damage which is stressful and time consuming. "

" Upon car hire arrival, I was made aware the car I had booked did not align with the car I was being offered. I then telephoned Auto Europe. I informed Auto Europe I has booked a station wagon (estate) and my e-mail shows an estate car and that I had used the website filter to only view and book an estate car. The lady from Auto Europe agreed my email shows an estate, but my booking shows 'economy'. I was told the only way I could have an estate was to cancel my booking and create a new one, which would cost me much more! I ended up having to accept having to use a small four door saloon which created luggage capacity issues and detracted from our holiday experience. Lastly, please listen to the recording of my phone call, as you should hear the woman from Auto Europe sigh at the beginning of the call, giving the impression she had no interest in taking a call form a customer! "

" I was pleasantly surprised with an excellent level of service. Very efficient pick up and drop off. You are met at a reception and allocated an agent without delay. No pressure to buy additional products. Location is within minutes to the airport. The office operates 24h which is great for late arrivals. Great value for money. Fast reply to email questions. Few recommendations to improve: there is one one head office phone number to call for all issues including requesting shuttle bus. During the day the number is busy and waiting time is very long. I have done this trip many time though not for 3 years because of Covid and thought that was a lot but though maybe things had changed. If I had paid at the bridge in cash it would have cost Ron 26 in other words they overcharged me by Ron 100 about £20. I queried this on return and he said it was administration charge. i call it a rip off and I don't think that is acceptable. " Due to receiving a hire car with a front summer tyre and a winter tyre (i.e. mixed tread tyres) we were supplied with an illegal vehicle and more importantly a very dangerous vehicle. Sixt staff at Sibiu airport viewed the tyres and told us not to drive the vehicle for these very two reason. Majority of holiday ruined as A unable to Utilise the car for six of the eight day hire. "

On way to collect the vehicle was asked by the driver (also person who inspected the car with us) if I Was driving through the mountains. As I didn't know this, I replied we would be keeping to main roads. When first driving the car it didn't seem to handle well. I drove for 4 hours to Sibiu. Two days later, having not used the car and following snow, I checked the vehicle and noted one front tyre was a summer tyre. We then took the car to Sixt Sibiu airport. Staff checked the tyres and we were informed the vehicle was illegal and dangerous to drive. I then contacted Sixt and Autoeuropeto update. Sixt offered us an Opal Cora, but this is far too small for our requirement. It was not until the late afternoon before our final day of hire Six Brasov came with a replacement vehicle (like for like). Upon returning the vehicle a Six staff member told me they hadn't had time to change all the tyres. A total lie as tyres should have been changes in November. Plus we were informed the car had been standing for hours waiting for collection when we arrived at the beginning of the hire period. Very disappointed with the Six response and asking for six of the eight days we could not use the car refunded. Our lives were placed at risk due to mixed tread tyres as well being illegal!!! "

" I had booked the car from 9am as we were arriving in the early hours of the morning and staying at an airport hotel. I was under the impression that since I booked it and paid for it from 9am it would still be there if I was a bit late. I arrived at around 11am and was told by an extremely rude and confrontational male that I was late and the car was no longer available. After a lot of huffing and puffing he finally arranged a car for us which quite frankly was a piece of junk. We were traveling with 2 children and would have liked an immediate pick up as other companies offer, rather than waiting over 30 minutes to be collected from the airport. " I've had two experiences of Auto-Europe this year. The first hiring a car at Turin airport was excellent 10/10. The second hiring at Bucharest airport via Payless was poor 2/10 where the car supplied was less than the specified one, had over 80,000km on the clock and in very poor condition. "

We booked a Skoda Octavia estate equivalent but all they had was an Opel Astra estate which had done 80,000km,had lots of damage and a 350mm crack across the windscreen. I paid an extra 110 euros at the counter to upgrade to a no quibble insurance because of concerns about being liable for any of the multitude of damages. When returning the car to Sibiu airport the Payless rep took ages waiting for the Bucharest office to send photos of the condition of the car on collection to assess any damage. In the end, I paid nearly £450 for 5 days motoring in a beat up Astra which represents very poor value. "

That requirement and the suspicious way the handover was conducted was worrying but as experienced car hirers we felt it would be OK. The problem is that they have confiscated our deposit (approx. £1350) without any reason. We are disgusted that this company is on your rental list. At the same time as we were checking out another customer was similarly being fleeced for a tiny scratch. Someone needs to investigate this company to see how, in league with a repairer and false invoices they are stealing from customers and insurance companies. There will be trouble over this. "

" As I feared, Auto Europe had not passed on to Hertz my request to take the hire car out of Romania and into Bulgaria. This meant that when we got to the desk in Bucharest Airport not only was our car not ready but they had not prepared the necessary paperwork to make this possible. This was despite me calling both Auto Europe and Hertz several times to confirm that this would not be a problem! "

Overall the experience was tiresome and unpleasant and not the way to start a holiday. " I had a pleasant experience with this company, the car I had was about 1 year old and drove and handled very well- no technical issues with the car. We also had an upgrade of the car- probably they were over booked for the class we had chosen, but it was good for us. The only aspect I wasn't that happy with it, but not such a big issue, it was their policy of returning the car with the fuel tank empty- I think it is much easier to bring the car full rather than running out of diesel because you are stuck in traffic on the very busy Bucharest ring road or worrying how far is the next petrol station because you don't know the area- but this is a minor detail. I totally recommend this company and will definitely use it in the future. "
