" I was very unhappy with my rental experience. When I arrived to collect a car, there were no cars available. I had to wait an hour to get a car. Furthermore, I filled up with petrol just before dropping the car off at the end and have evidence of this on my bank statement. When I dropped off the car they said all was fine and I was asked to sign to confirm the rental was complete. I later received a copy and on it they had added refueling costs which were not needed as I had returned the car with a full tank. That cost was not returned with my deposit. I sent them an enail to complain but heard nothing back. "

The fact the the booking process by auto-europe is not able to capture this is not acceptable, if I had booked this car for my wife she would have been stranded without a car because of her nationality. The GPS we were given did not work, which when you are driving in city you don't know was a nightmare. I thought the car was underpowered and didn't change gears easily. On returning the car I complained about the GPS and the charge was refunded, this also required the supervisor and took an age. Altogether not a great experience unfortunately. "

" The staff at the desk refused to honour the booking initially, as I did not have my UK passport with me. They were grudgingly satisfied with me UK drivers licence. There was a desperate shortage of vehicles and my requested VW Polo was unavailable. The first vehicle I was given (some sort of Renault) was parked in by their other vehicles and could not be shifted.It I was then given a Huyundai i10; a far less safe option that the VW. Overall it took over an hour to be served and to leave with my vehicle. This was probably the worst service I have had at a SA car rental desk (Though the clerk herself was trying her best). "

" The pick up was quite chaotic as it was a busy airport with people queueing and no paperwork was given to us after signing various forms. We inspected the car after being told there was one mark on it. The rental was fine until we returned the vehicle and a scrape was shown to us under the front of the car which was visible if you laid down so we never saw it on inspection. We have today had a bill for this scrape. Very disappointed. "

However they did have a brilliant map for when we returned the car. The car itself was OK but was a very basic model and lacked the power to cope with significant hills. This required a visit to a Budget office and several phone calls from staff to sort out a simple problem. "

" I am actually not happy with the service offered over the counter by Budget. The terms and conditions are not very clear because it has been stated that one can use visa, mastercard or credit card to book a car and unfortunately some of these cards do not have names on them. Additionally, I think Auto Europe should have other means to help us book car rentals but not deduct funds from the accounts immediately so that any inconveniences like I ecountered on Saturday should not happen. "

I was very disappointed and inconvenienced by not being offered services over the counter due to my bank card. I read the terms and conditions before I can make online bookings with Auto Europe that they accept the above mentioned cards hence my money was deducted from the account. I had to book with other car rental which accepted my visa card and I believe Budget should consider this in the near future. The officer who was on duty tried to help and look for other options but couldn't do anything. I have raised a query with Auto Europe to re-imburse my funds and still waiting. "
