    More information about Christchurch

Following Christchurch’s earthquakes, the city is still trying to revive itself and redevelop some of its destroyed buildings. Unfortunately, some areas have been classified as too unstable and will never be rebuilt. Due to its many gardens, tree-lined streets and parks, Christchurch is affectionately known as the “Garden City” of New Zealand. With a 75-acre Botanical Garden set in the city centre, it is easy to see why many adhere to this belief. Located on the Avon and Heathcote River banks, with the Waimakariri River to the north, the city is nestled towards the south of Pegasus Bay.

If you’re staying near the city centre, consider taking a guided tour and exploring lots of intriguing historical facts. A visit to Canterbury Museum and Quake City is more than worth your time and will be a good eye-opener to the events that took place during the earthquakes. If looking for entertainment, then along with the city’s bars, clubs, restaurants and cinemas - for something extra special - consider heading towards Isaac Theatre Royal, the Maori Culture Ko Tane Centre and The Court Theatre with your campervan hire in Christchurch.

Lastly, let’s not forget that with the city’s prestigious location, you are gifted with plenty of water sports, nature hikes, biking trails, beaches and even a nine-hole golf club!
