    Motorhome hire in Faro

Renting a campervan hire in Faro is not difficult, but it is not very easy to find a suitable parking space, especially during high season. The pitches should be reserved before the summer. On the south coast, you can quickly get problems with the authorities if you park on a coastal road for more than an hour. In the interior of the country, as well as in the east and west of the Algarve, this is less of a problem. Below is a selection of campsites in and around Faro.

Camping Olhao The campsite Olhão is located in Olhão, around 6 miles from Faro. The pitches are marked as pitches with shades, with a bit of shade and no shade. A sandy beach is near the camp. On site, there is a playground and a sports field. Free Wi-Fi is available in the WiFi zone. Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash.
Camping Albufeira Camping Albufeira is located 28 miles west of Faro and 1 mile from a small fishing village. The park is equipped with two swimming pools (one for children) and several restaurants. The bus stop with good connections to Albufeira and the main station is located directly at the park. The number of people is limited to 4 for motorhome parking spaces. The check-in time is from 3pm and the check-out is until 12pm. No animals are allowed on the pitch. In the main season, the minimum rental period is 7 nights.
Algarve Motorhome Park Just 37 miles from Alves is the Algarve Motorhome Park. Nestled amidst the heart of Rio Arade Valley, it still offers a good infrastructure by being close to the larger city of Silves. There are two types of parking spaces with and without electricity. All places are handicapped accessible, video monitored and connected to the sewer. Credit cards are accepted in the park.
Motorhome Park Falésia Motorhome Park Falésia is located 18 miles from the centre of Faro. Please note that this park does not accept reservations. The park is open all year round. Praia da Falésia beach is within walking distance.

    Worth knowing about Faro

Campervans' maximum speed is 90 km/h on country roads and 100 km/h on motorways. It is important to note that staying on roads and within car parks is not allowed, while toll costs are the same as for cars. There is no motorway charge on the route from Lisbon to Coimbra and Porto. Faro, the capital of the Algarve, has the largest airport in the region and is often seen as a starting point for an Algarve or Portugal trip. Faro is, however, so much more than just a starting point of a round trip.

Vila Adentro, part of the gorgeous Old Town, is hidden within the almost completely preserved walls of the town, and offers numerous shops, restaurants and bars. Three historic city gates act as the entrance to this district of Faro. The city is located next to the nature reserve "Parque Natural da Ria Formos". With a protected area of about 105 square miles, this is one of the largest protected lagoons in Europe. This breathtaking lagoon landscape was created by a sea and earthquake in 1755.

A wonderful view over Faro can be enjoyed from Sé Cathedral, a three-nave church. It dates back to the 13th and 14th century and has already been twice almost completely destroyed. The restoration and reconstruction works are reflected in many different elements of the cathedral. For example, the Gothic chapel was renovated in Moorish style while the organ and the entrance portal were renovated in baroque style. The viewing platform is located in the belfry of the cathedral.

The most beautiful beach in the region is Praia de Faro. The best way to reach it is by bus no. 16, as it may be difficult to find a car park nearby. The special thing about this beach is that it is still quite unknown to foreign tourists and therefore not overrun. The Ilha de Faro is connected to the mainland by a narrow, one-lane bridge. The atmosphere at this 3 mile long sandy beach is relaxed and the proximity to the airport is not noticeable. The beach is still not a victim of mass tourism. The water is clean and it would be excellent for bathing, if it were not for the very low water temperature, which does not rise even during the summer months.
