    The airport is located two miles northwest of Basel in Switzerland, 12 miles southeast of Mulhouse in France and 29 miles southwest of Freiburg in Germany. Its unique location allows travellers to visit all three countries.

    Terminals

    The Airport has one large four-level terminal with the Y-shaped gate area adjacent to it. Level 1 is in the basement with access to the car park. Level 2, is the ground level where arrivals amenities are situated. The check-in area is on level 3 and departure gates are on level 4. The landside of the terminal is divided into the Swiss and French area.

    Car Hire Pick-up and Drop-off

    Car hire desks in the Swiss sector are located in hall 4 on level 2. The French sector has car rental desks in hall 1 on level 2. To pick up your car hire from Basel Airport you need to have your driving licence, ID or passport, depending on the rental requirements, credit card in the name of the main driver and Auto Europe car hire voucher.     Airport Facilities

    The airport caters for all travellers needs. There are numerous shopping possibilities both on the French and Swiss side with book stores, newsagents, fashion and duty free shops on levels 2, 3, and 4. A free Internet access is available throughout the terminal. Currency exchange is located in the international arrival and departure halls as well as on level 3 in the public sector for France and Switzerland. Cash machines are on levels 2 and 3 on both the Swiss and French side.

    Transport/How to get to the airport

    Arriving from Basel to the airport takes only 15 minutes by car via the A-35 motorway, which is a toll-road. Alternatively, take the Route Douanière de l'Aéroport à Bâle which is toll-free and the driving time is similar.

    Although there is no direct railway connection with the airport, there are bus services to the Basel Railway Station with trains going to France, Germany and Switzerland. The local BVB bus company operates services to the airport, Line 50 goes from Basel Railway Station to the Airport. Taxis operate from both the Swiss and French sector.

    Parking

    There are short and long-stay parking facilities at the airport on the French and Swiss side. Parking in Basel include P+R facilities, car parks and on-street parking. Parking discs, available at post offices, are required in the blue zone in Basel. Other zones have parking meters.
