Queenstown runs both domestic and international flight from one single terminal. The terminal is split into two separate levels so as to deal with both domestic and international facilities. It was opened in 1935 but services were first served from 1950. Since the early 1990s the airport has been through building works several times to be able to manage the increase in passenger numbers through tourism.

The airport boasts numerous facilities available for passengers arriving or departing, from food and drink to shopping. Passengers can enjoy freshly prepared cuisine to handmade chocolates with plenty of stores to shop in inbetween. Choose to eat from places such as Airspresso, Patagonia Cafe, Airspresso Airside or the Savoury Corner. Shop in shops such as TravelPharm Icebreaker Touch Lab, Edmund Hilary, Common People, Kapa, Mons Royale, Paper Plus, Vodafone, Global Culture, The Remarkable Sweet Shop, Travelex, Spark Store and the Aelia Duty Free. Other airport facilities include Bag and key storage, bike assembly points, disabled access, first aid rooms, currency conversion and ATM’s, Lost Property, Postal Box, Free Wi-Fi, Meeting Rooms, Parents Room and the Air New Zealand Lounge or the Manaia Lounge.

Access to Queenstown centre is simple when you rent a car in Queenstown airport. The airport is situated only around 10 minutes drive from the centre of Queenstown, so it’s quick and easy to get to the heart of the area with your own transport. Alternatively you can get an Orbus, you can pay the fares or purchase a Gocard, at a cost of $5 for the card and minimum top up of $10. If you are planning on taking numerous bus journeys it works out cheaper accumulatively rather than paying the fare on each bus. Buses run 7 days a week from 6am until late. There are several shuttle buses also which run from the airport to your accommodation or there is a park and ride service. There are also several taxi services in Queenstown which you will be able to enquire about at the airport service desk.

Parking your car rental at Queenstown airport couldnt be easier. The airport holds an express parking area for pick ups and drop offs situated at terminal car park A P2. There is a two minute rule on this car park so as to avoid congestion. There is also a similar car park with a free 20 minutes for the longer pick up waits, this is also situated on terminal car park A P20.

The airport holds two terminal car parks for those who are planning on being there for a longer period of time. Both car parks charge the same prices, however car park A is immediately in front of the terminal, holding 300 parking spaces and 4 disabled bays. Car park B is a short walk away and only holds around 75 car park spaces.

For those looking for cheaper more affordable parking there is now a park and ride service. Opening up 300 more parking spaces nearby to the airport, you will then board the shuttle bus which runs every thirty minutes to the airport. The car parks also hold a number of luggage trolleys around the area.

You can find price rates for the parking areas on the Queenstown airport website.
