Very angry and disappointed. "

" Sadly the Advantage car was not only dirty to start with and had part of it's bumper missing, on the most important day that we needed it, the whole purpose for this visit to Vegas, the car's orange engine warning light came on a few hundred miles into our journey. This was a particularly special trip out to Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon, a tour which had needed to be booked months in advance! I stopped the car, got out the handbook which said do not drive the car, contact a VW dealer and phoned the Advantage breakdown assistance. When I advised Fernando of the remaining duration on our journey just to get out to the tour company in Page and then a 5 hour journey back to Vegas, he recommended we did not drive it further. He gave us the option to either drive it back to Vegas and send a pickup truck if we broke down roadside or wait where we were and he would send someone to get us. As we were 3 hours away from Vegas I decided to try and get the car back to Vegas as Fernando suggested. Thankfully the car made it back without further incident and we were given a replacement car however by this time we were too late to be able to turn around and get back out to Page to join our tour. The tour company were fully booked for the rest of our duration in Vegas. This was a tour I had been planning for several years and a treat for my 40th birthday. I cannot describe how upset I was to have missed out on this; to have paid thousands for a trip to Vegas for this reason to find I missed out on it. I have hired cars with many different renters in the USA and other parts of the world including Hertz, Alamo, Budget, Enterprise etc and never had a problem. Sadly I will not recommend Europcar / Advantage. "

I soon realised i had been lied to and sent out an email to yourselves and you local agents Advantage. It took AutoEurope 3 days to reply to me! I was surprised there was no form of included basic breakdown cover, nor even a guarantee of there being a spare wheel ('some cars do, some don't' - ours did, as it turned out). I declined to locally pay extra for breakdown cover - the car was quite new and a reliable Korean brand, plus I had already purchased breakdown coverage through Auto Europe. However, there seemed to be no advantage purchasing Auto Europe's coverage in advance, versus locally paying per rental day over the counter. I was also surprised by the $15 per day admin fee for handling road tolls - I've never seen this before with other US rentals. The all-in optional daily toll charge of $23.99 was not attractive as we spent most of our driving days in rural areas or with the car parked up, when staying with relatives. " We hired a car via Europcar who subsequently subcontracted to EZ Rental Cars in Seattle Airport. The price of the car was a lot cheaper than other rental companies. When we picked up the car we took photos of all the dints, scrapes etc and informed the company of them. However we failed to notice that the front tyres were worn down to the tread depth marker until a week after picking up the car. We took the car to a garage and they informed us that the tread was low and the tyres should be changed. We rang EZ Rentals who initially said any problems with tyres was up to us. Our response was that they had given us a car with worn tyres. They then said we could change the tyres ourselves and then talk to the manager to try to get reimbursement back from the company on our return but they stressed there was no guarantee that this would happen. We were not happy with this and we asked to speak to a manager. We were transferred to David Gundell's voice mail and left a message for him to contact us. We tried twice again leaving messages and he still did not get back to us. We also asked Auto Europe to help us but they refused to help. As a result we were left with a car with worn tyres to travel 2800 miles on potentially dangerous tyres. We feel extremely let down by Europcar, EZ Car Rentals and Auto Europe. I can assure you that we won't be using any of these companies in the future again no matter what the cost savings are. You cannot put a price on your safety and the stress that this has incurred. "

The person who handled my pick-up was more interested in her mobile phone than dealing with me - even sending text messages whilst holding my credit card. Then told me I had no breakdown cover and it would cost me $500 for recovery if there was a problem (including a puncture as the car had no spare!). She then told me the car was inside the building when it was outside, she never told me I needed or gave me the exit code for the gate to leave the premises - I had to walk back to the office to get the code and wait for her to come off her mobile phone before she would reluctantly deal with me. I'll never book with Europcar again, this was the worst car rental experience I've ever had and I rent a lot of cars. "

" Good value hire, the car was in reasonable condition although there were stains on the front seats and the front tyres were just legal on collection. The admin person at the collection counter was very and unnecessarily rude. The return process was fine. "

I was 35 mins early for the booking and was told quite rudely that it was an extra $84 to take the car then. I accepted I was early and sat and waited. When I represented myself at the counter she was busy looking at her mobile phone and made no eye contact. She repeated I was early (now 2 mins before collection) time), so we waited 2 mins. She continued to look down and uninterested throughout the admin process, stopping at one point to rearrange her hair. When completed she explained I needed to collect the car 2 floors down from the desk (in a large multi-storey complex containing many car hire companies) . When I asked her where the collection point was on the floor she rolled her eyes and said aggressively: 'I said it's 2 floors down.' I was her only customer in that 45 period I was there waiting, so I can't see why she would be stressed. "

" In the first place, the car was just fine. But we are convinced that we paid far too much for the car. We had already paid 384 British pounds, and on the agreement it said that alle taxes were included. Also all insurances would be included. So we expected that that would be the price we had to pay. At the counter the man was very friendly, but also very fast in his explanation and in the end we had to pay another 465 usd! We didn't understand what he charged us and he tried to explain, but we didn't understand it in the end. Now we really feel that we have been swindled. We have rented cars many times before, but this has never happened to us. "

We had to fuel the car over the course of our holiday which isn't easy when you don't know what fuel to put in it, there was nothing on the paper work or any labels in the car or filler cap. I had to phone the hire company to ask what fuel to put in, Not Good. "

" I am very careful in my dealings with car rental companies in airports as, sad to say, they all want to charge you more for nothing. On this occasion we agreed to an upgrade but the charges were not the same when it came to paying as to what I was just told verbally. I challenged this and he said it was additional charges but could not explain for what! No doubt some people just pay as they are tired and want to go on their way. Anyway he recalculated and we got back to the correct figure. The rep suggested I bring the fuel tank back empty and told me the price per gallon which seemed OK but did not tell me the charge was $8.99 per gallon to do it! Fortunately I am aware of this scam and said I would bring it back full which I did. The car also had some damage to the front which I didn't think was very good given the amount I had just paid. I don't blame the rep for this just the Companies at airports who try and take advantage of vulnerable customers and the sooner the whole industry is regulated the better. So overall, no better no worse than most car rental experiences I have had. "

" The counter staff tried to bully and intimidate me into buying a sun pass at $10 per day, which would have added $200 to my bill, even after repeatedly telling them I didn't want one, they told me the tolls were unmanned and I couldn't pay cash, i've been going to Florida for the last 18 years so I knew they were lying. I actually paid a total of $8 tolls in my whole stay a difference of $198. They also tried putting pressure on me to rent a sat nav at $20 per day. Laughing at me for refusing and asking if I knew where I was going. I never told them I was a regular visitor to Florida but I suspect they make a lot of money out of first time visitors with their sun pass scam and sat nav rental, I will never use them again, they are nothing more that a bunch of deceitful thieves that I presume will get paid commission for duping tourists into buying products that aren't needed. "

" I would not use Advantage again. They did not have a four wheel drive car I ordered, the clerk was a hustler and in the end, to ensure I get what I ordered I upgraded at a cost that was half what he quoted at the start, and included returning the car empty. I returned if full to avoid any arguments. I had a crack in the screen develop and the Customer Services did not answer the phone. I left a note on their Facebook web page and got no reaction. The car was new, and well ok, but the hirer's were well below what I expected. I will use somebody else next time. Their price was the least cost on choice of vehicles and the service matched it. Poor. "

" At the time of booking with Auto Europe we thought that we were renting with Europcar but actually it would appear that Europcar uses Advantage car rental in the USA. We would not have booked this if we had been aware. We will DEFINATELY not be using Europcar (Advantage) in the USA again. We were missled about the pre-paid toll cost. The counter staff told us it was $9 per day. i.e $189 for 21 days. However, the actual cost was $9.99 per day + 10% consession fee and 6.5% tax so a total of $246! $57 more than we were told. The counter staff said that the prepaid fuel charge was cheaper than us refuelling the car before returning it. We declined this but it was still added to our rental agreement without telling us. The total prepaid refuel cost was $41.74, I refuelled the car from empty to full during the rental several times and the maximum I paid at the pumps was $27! So we were overcharged $15. "

" Although most of the service was good, efficient and friendly this was all let down by one individual working on the Advantage check out desk in Denver. I arrived very late and tired having just flown from London and it was 3 in the morning London time. I just wanted to pick up a car and get to bed as quickly as possible. The person on the desk then suggested an upgrade and various other additional services I had not requested. He indicated this would only increase the cost marginally so I agreed as I wanted to get to bed as soon as possible. When I checked my paper work on the evening of the next day having driven 300 miles that day I saw that the upgrade and extra were costing over $3,000. I then rang your help desk in the USA and they were very helpful and said that if I returned the car and the extras and took the type of car I had originally asked for and the charges would be adjusted. I did this and your staff handled the hand over very well. However this took two day out of my holiday involved me driving an extra 600 miles with all the additional costs on fuel and accomodation. "

Phone was torn out at call station and not good for 75 year olds with three cases having to be pulled about 1/3 mile to call station. We never received an email and an extra charge of £41 added to our credit card which we have no details for what it was for. There was no signpost at SF Airport where to go to for the shuttle bus which takes you a few miles away from the airport. Not much fun when you've travelled for 12 hours. There were only three people ahead of me in the line, but it took over an hour to get served as although there were four staff present only one was checking in. When we were finally served, the advantage Employee tried to scare me into taking the EasyPass option at an extra $24 per day for my 8 day rental. I declined several times, but he kept outlining the difficulties I could have. (Note- we incurred $12 of tolls during our complete rental). " I pre-paid a tank of fuel only to find the car with less than half a tank of fuel. 30 minutes after picking up the car, a low tyre pressure warning and window wash warning flashed. So I had to stop, re-fuel, pump up the tyres and fill screen wash. I also needed to clean the inside of the windscreen as it was filthy. The tyre pressure warning came on every day as the rear left trye had a slow flat. Half way through the rental, I registered a complaint about the above (complaint No: 209425). I was booked to drive a Kia Forte intermediate car but he insisted I was getting a Kia Soul which is basically a square box on wheels! probably his way of getting at me for not agreeing to pay for the tolls package. I managed to get around Miami no problem after downloading the Paytollo app on my phone for $20. It is back to Avis for me. "

While I have had very good conversations with Customer Service at AutoEurope and promised I would hear back, this so far has led to nothing. I have yet to hear from AutoEurope for their side of the responsibility, namely stating the location of the rental as SFO Airport and not disclosing its actual location OFF the airport until the Voucher is paid! This has nothing to do with Europcar: and now it is still the case that the location is listed on the Airport! I am terribly disappointed in Auto Europe as I have raved about their good Customer Service and promised the earth when I speak to agents on the phone! How false! "

" - Luis was the agent who facilitated the rental check-in on the 16th. I was given a KIA Optima car. - Dec 18 I had to use the back windshield defroster due to frost build up in Salt Lake City. I was not able to see anything through my rear view mirror as the defroster in the car was not working - Dec 20 the dashboard warning sign came on due to a drop in low tires pressure - I decided then to head back and see about getting the car exchanged as I did not feel safe driving the car with no rear view visibility or having a tire blow out when driving - Luis was there and attempted to assist me as much as possible and offered to swap the car with a Chevy Cruise in the same class group. I was told that I need to pay for a $32 gas top up when returning the car as this was part of the deal - I expressed my dissatisfaction to Luis that I prefer to top up the car myself when retuning rather than Advantage charging me $32 and how this is an inconvenience that I had to return a car badly maintained and unsafe to drive - A lady runs over to the desk while Luis and I were talking and beings to intimidating rudely by saying: ''You rented the car through EuropCar, you did not rent this through us that's one. Two, you rented it through a European website and you are using a US driver license.'' - I responded politely and said: ''I am a US citizen, I work/live and reside legally in the UK. I was not aware of this. EuropCar are aware that I hold a US license when I entered my information and completed the reservation. I do have a US license, US address and US credit card that you have authorized'' - Her response to me before walking away was: ''We should have not had you rent with us as this is illegal'' - I asked Luis who this lady was and he responded she's his supervisor/manager. What an embarrassment that you employee such leaders to talk to your clients in such demeanor. I felt I was lectured and talked down like a 6 years old child and I certainly did not appreciate her aggressive tone whatsoever. I demanded that she gets reprimanded and spoken too by your corporate office for such unacceptable behavior. You need to figure out who she is. She was of hispanic background, brown in complexion, light brown/orange straight hair just below the shoulders, heavy in weight. The incident took place Dec 20 around 5:50-6pm Utah Time. I am expecting back a confirmation from your regional or head office that someone has reached out to this incompetent supervisor/manager who clearly has anger issues. I will be calling the local news channel and make a big fuss about this. You are lucky I was not involved in a car accident/rear ended due to no visibility as the defroster was not functioning. Clerk would not let me pick up car 1 hour early unless I paid him $66 dollars was made to wait until exact time to get car (my wife and her parents who are in there 80s had to get a taxi because after an 11hour flight there were out on there feet) then he tried to give me an economy car even though I've paid for a full size. Tried to hard sell me extra insurance for wheels tyres pointed out I was already ready covered his was very rude and said it won't cover me. Then tried hard sell on fuel had to say no at least 4 times to get him to give me full to full. After half an hour finally got car which was at least 4 years old full of dents scathes and overall very tried looking by this time I had enough and just wanted to get out of there. " AutoEurope should provide information on the EZPass system / payment fees for any rental in a State that uses this system, as it can add a significant extra cost to the rental. I would not have rented the car if I had been made aware of the extra fees that would be charged. "

When picking up the car I was told I either had to pay $23.95 per day + tolls for an EZPass, or a $25.00 Admin fee per toll by mail. I had assumed that I could just pay cash, but this proved not to be the case, even in situations where there was a cash point, as the system automatically associated the car with Europecar's EZPass account based on the license plate number. This meant I had to pay something like $150 in "Admin fees" despite only incurring tolls on two days costing about $25 in total. Finally, I had to wait almost an hour for the desk clerk to check me through the system on arrival, despite there only being one person in front of me in the queue. "

" To whom it may concern, Auto Europe voucher number UK4637633-1 EUROPCAR reservation number 1092578935 I am writing with regards to my recent rental booking made through Auto Europe for a 15 day period spent in the United States. I am very unhappy at the service received for a number reasons. 1 - The care size/ model specified as 'Large vehicle' a Hyundai Sonata or similar was definitely not adhered to. The vehicle I received on arrival was a Mitsubishi Mirage which is a compact or small vehicle and in no way similar to a Hyundai Sonata(please see attached pictures). I will also be writing to Europcar on this matter and the mere fact that the desk clerk at Advantage Car Rental mentioned that we were the 6th clients to have a similar issue, clearly shows a blatant disregard for providing full and clear information. We were offered the opportunity to upgrade at a cost or to accept a minivan seating 9 people otherwise they said we would forfeit the rental. As we had no choice we accepted the minivan which was enormous and while superficially clean smelled very bad. The checkout staff had no note of damage to the vehicle but upon inspection there were numerous areas of damage to the paintwork. It took over an hour to process the rental. " Booked car hire with Europcar through Auto Europe. Once arrived at Las Vegas airport discovered that Advantage Car Rental run operations for Europcar. Would not have booked with Advantage if I had known beforehand. They have a rating on Trustpilot of 1.5 out of 10. Had booked the car hire on a full to full basis. Was told by the Advantage rep that fuel bought through them was cheaper than on the street. Wasn't explained until after payment that I had bought a tank of fuel from them at the start of the rental, had thought I would buy from them at the end. Paid $3.12/gallon from Advantage although found lots of places selling at $2.99 and cheapest being $2.79. Also meant that I had to take the car back empty, which can be tricky. Didn't want to leave too much in the tank and didn't want to run out of fuel. Hence the reason I had booked full to full! Second day returned car number 1 because of a recurring noise on the drivers front wheel. Exchanged for another vehicle. Third day returned car number 2 because the remote key fob didn't work properly. Exchanged for another vehicle. At the moment have been charged £189.10 for fuel and deposit. I am waiting for the deposit to be returned. At the moment not had any feedback as to when and how much will be returned. As you can see not the best experience in renting a car. "

The replacement car, which was mid-size, was in poor conditon and the handle on the passengar did not work "

" This is only for "Europcar" in Fort Lauderdale which turned out not to be "Europcar " but a company called Advantage. The car smelled of cigarette smoke and there was not enough air in one tire, so we had to sort that out ourselves. Retuning the car turned out to be a nightmare. We were in good time (3,5 hours before flight departure). Finding return was easy, but then we had to take the shuttle bus to the airport and there where hundreds of people queuing. We waited 30 minutes and not one bus turned up. An official told us that there were 4 buses in circulation but we didn't see any. He then told us that we could walk to the terminal and explained the way. So we walked with 5 cases in 30c heat for half an hour before we finally got there. A lot of other car renters did the same. It was absolutely exhausting and a terrible ending of a holiday. "

" I booked with Auto-Europe. The Voucher said Europcar. When we arrived very tired after long flights at Fort Lauderdale there was no ign of either company in the Rental Car Offices. Having asked a few people someone suggested that my booking could be with E-Z Car Rental. We lugged our cases up to their stall and yes they acknowledged our booking. That wasted 30 mins! We then got our car and left the rental offices only to find that while I contracted for a Full Gas tank to return full, it was currently empty, so we went back and it was filled. Another 20 Minute delay. During our hire period I then received several emails from Advantage Car Hire who I had never heard of. Apparently they too were involved in my hire, and if all 4 companies mentioned are making a profit out of my rental, no wonder it could not have been much cheaper. The car ran well except for a slow puncture in the drivers side rear tyre which I had to top up ith air every 2 days. Apart from that the rental was uneventful. But you have to get over your identity crisis and communicate with clients, and get the basics right! "

" Given no opportunity to check the car before signing for the keys. Guy said he couldn't leave his booth and that we couldn't get the keys without signing the document to say we'd checked it!? The check done by the Rental company did not highlight any issues on the car and in the dark of the car park it was difficult to challenge this. However there were many old scratches and marks which should have been noted. Also petrol was only 3/4 full but I did not spot this until leaving the car park. On return I showed the person a photo of the fuel from the day we picked it up but they said we'd be charged as I returned it 3/4 full. Hard sell as ever by the counter staff for every conceivable upgrade. Including telling me the toll charge thing was essential or we'd be charged $25 for every toll. Luckily I've been to Orlando a few times to know this isn't true and you just pay cash. Also told us our car was too small and that we should upgrade when it was clearly suitable for us. "

" There were two distinct problems with the agency that Europcar uses at Miami Airport, Advantage Rent a Car. Book in. After the normal high-pressure selling of options, that I did not need, you are required to go through the disclaimers using a minuscule terminal at the desk. This has a very small screen with even smaller font size, meaning it is impossible to know what you are actually signing away, additionally you have to scroll through each section which was not working correctly so the agent had to scroll it through for you. He was also less-than-helpful, at best, during this process. I had absolutely no idea what I was signing away! The customers in front of me had exactly the same problems. Driving. Whilst I had the car I checked if it had a spare wheel. The handbook said the model was supplied with either a space-saver spare wheel, or a repair kit with compressor. This car had neither, making our travel quite stressful as we spent a lot of time on freeways. When I returned the car and discussed this with the Advantage agent she said they take all the gear out of all their cars, adding that if you have any tyre problem you have to call them out, with possible exorbitant call out fees! For these two reasons I have to downgrade the Europcar rating. I have not had similar problems with other Rental companies through Europcar bookings in the past. I suggest Europcar re-assess the suitability of Advantage as one of their agency organisations. "

" You will shortly be receiving a letter of complaint. Months ago we booked a Ford Mustang Convertible for my bucket list dream trip of driving a Ford Mustang Convertible across New England. You confirmed that a Mustang Convertible or similar will be available to collect from your partners at Newark Airport, Advantage Rental Car. When we arrived after a very long journey to collect the vehicle we were informed by Advantage that they had never rented out Mustangs, Mustang Convertibles or any Convertible. In fact they added that they had been advising you of this for months. Needless to say this came as a bitter blow after you sent confirmation that we were guaranteed a Convertible. All that Advantage had for us was a people carrier. Over the following hours, which turned into days I had been emailing you and also even phoned you where you put me on hold (the bill for this call was £50.00 of which I have a. Itemised statement). We told you that we were travelling to Boston seven days into our tour, and you informed us that you were in communication with Advantage at Boston Airport to arrange for us to swap to a more suitable vehicle. We spent half a day getting to the airport and when we got there, guess what. No suitable car was available and we were stuck with the people carrier. You advertise that your customer service is great. It is not great, in fact it does not even get to the level of mediocre. You spoilt the trip and as I'll Health means that I will not be able to travel to the USA again, you spoilt my bucket list. Have I finished yet? No, to make matter even worse, if that were possible, Advantage charged us an extra £1,600 on top of what we paid. Please expect to hear further from me on this. "

" I appreciate we only ever book the Basic Compact car class but Ive never had such a low spec car, this car not only didnt have remote locking it only had manual locking, you had to do each door individually which was a pain, and manual windows. It had 49,600 miles on the clock, by far the highest Ive seen in a rental. The dashboard had a loud rattle, the boot rubber seal was hanging off so my luggage got wet, the rear window gradually opened itself and there was only half a tank of fuel in it so I had to take it back and wait. There was an old muffin wrapper in the footwell and so many scratches on the back it looked like it had literally been reversed through a hedge. Surprisingly it drove ok. "

On booking I thought the depot was on airport so was disappointed as having to travel on the skytrain to the rental car area only to find we had, with all our luggage, take a shuttle with a 20min trip to the depot to sign for & pick up our car. The car could have been cleaner, especially on the inside where some rubbish & hairs stuck to seat backs from the last renter were present. The pick up driver was more interested in her phone than helping us, so as 60year olds we had to handle, without assistance, our luggage both in & out of the bus whilst the driver was enthralled in her phone. The return driver was just the opposite, lifting luggage from our car onto & off the bus & offered even to find & place our luggage on a trolley. Saying all this I will avoid Europcar in future "

" Car had a some damage to sill and a few scrapes on body work and a kerbed alloy wheel but these were identified by me and noted by Advantage prior to taking the vehicle. Looks like tyre pressures were not checked prior to rental as I had a TPMS warning at 26psi on one tyre and after re-inflating it, stayed up to pressure so it wasn't a slow puncture. "

" I wanted a car rental at the airport and there was nothing in the booking to indicate this was not the case. Nothing to say I had to get a bus. This was ok for me as I was being met but someone else may be very confused. Rental actually handled by Advantage Rental - again nothing to say this on booking. Better to communicate to customers that a bus ride was required to a car rental about a mile away and car was actually at an Advantage site not a EuropeCar site (only a tiny logo inside the office, not at gate or in parking lot). Arriving at Salt Lake City Airport late at night or just in the dark means that customers could be very upset by this mis-information. "

Although I had to argue on this occasion that is unusual as previously it has been a simple enough case of handing the key back and when you are on your way home that is all you want to do. Told by them they were giving me a free upgrade (we asked for saloon they offered SUV). Completed paperwork and went to vehicle to find a massive crack in the passenger side of windscreen and no parcel shelf in the rear (we were traveling a lot and all our possessions would be on show). Returned to desk and they changed vehicle (to Huyundai Tucson and no parcel shelf). returned and queued for third time and they said I could have a Toyota (turned out to be a 7 seater and no parcel shelf). Returned to desk and queued 4th time but demanded a sedan (saloon) as we had ordered. Finally got a Chevrolet Malibu and left the place at 19:58 and it was completely dark. If they had been able to give us this car in the very beginning then my first drive on Denver roads would not have been in pitch black and as rush hour was receding. Not impressed. On the return of the car they had charged for fueling ($47) and a roll toll pass ($179) for the whole 18 days. Argued with manager that the car was returned full and we only used Denver roads for 3 of the 18. In the end they agreed to waiver these costs and I lost an hour of my time and 90 pence in exchange rate fluctuations. I appreciate these maybe small things but when you have been awake and traveling for over 24 hours it does not leave you with a good impression. "

" As the issues we had are with the car hire company we did arrange the car hire through Autoeurope so felt they should deal with the issues. Everybody we spoke to about Advantage told us they were in satisfied with their service and would not use them again. Original quote is cheap but you end up paying more than the larger reputable companies like Hertz or Avis. "

When picking up the car we were told that the car we had booked was not available but not to worry as they would supply me with another car upgrade for 25 dollars. As we we very tired and it was late we agreed. We were also advised to take out a toll fee payment of 10 dollars a day as there was toll roads everywhere on colarado and that every time we entered one we would be charged 25 dollars plus an admin fee. We asked if this was really necessary and they strongly advised that it was. We immediately went back to the desk and told them that we did not want this upgrade as they never explained it was per day. I started to become suspicious and asked again about the toll fee which they still advised to retain. The car was not intact the Nissan that we hired but a slightly larger saloon which we decided to keep as we just wanted to get to our hotel. On checking my account in the morning they had not reimbursed our account for the deposit for the first car and had taken a deposit of over 900 dollars for both cars. We phoned eutoeurope who told us that we would need to take it up with advantage ourselves an advised to go back to see them. We tried to phone Advantage and they would not answer the phone so we ended driving back to the Advantage office to sort it out. There was a massive queue and only two or three desks open so waited over two hours to see someone. We were then told that they would sort out the issue when we brought the car back. We wasted a whole morning of the first day of our holiday to try and resolve our issue. The car itself was fine and had no problems with it for the 16 day hire. When we got back home after the holiday, Advantage had taken reimbursed the deposit but had taken a fee of 200 dollars of our account with no breakdown of costs. This was the estimated amount on the initial contract which included local taxes, although the hire contract with auto Europe included all taxes and fees. I am now in the process of contacting customer services to sort this out. It would appear that Advantage quote a cheap price through autoeurope but make up their costs by selling you extras you just bony need. They have just estimated a charge and deducted it out of our account. All in all this was not a pleasant experience when on holiday and I would be reluctant to hire again through this system. We also discovered we there was only two toll lanes in Denver only with no other tolls in Colarado as we we told there was. We therefore feel we were conned into taking this toll fee out. We did use one toll simply as we had taken out the extra fee but we really didn't need to. "

An American lad in front of us said it was the worst customer service he'd ever seen,. He actually went to the counter and told them to stop upsetting and just give people the cars they hired. He then let us have his turn as we had been travelling for 23 hours. I complained to the supervisor in the queue that this was poor and she started ranting about getting the manager. A large Toyoto 4 runner with a large dent and scratch down the side, and in poor condition I ended up with a Ford Mustang convertable but had to pay a large upgrade fee and was told it would be 238 dollars extra and that fuel was included and to bring it back empty. On return they charged me 57 Dollars for fuel even though I argued that they said it was included and a extra amount of taxes so after a concession of 25 dollars I paid an extra 337.64 dollars or 260.29 pounds over my original payment of approx £358.00 , I think that this was an excessive amount to pay extra when they did not have the car I wanted or a suitable alternative. I was not happy ! "

We didn't have any issues, caught the shuttle at LAX with no problems, 10 minutes to the car centre, I was dealt with promptly at the desk with no hard sell for other extras and then out to the car and on our way within 5 minutes of arriving. Car was of the right class and had no problems with it during our 18 day rental. Return was also quick and straight forward, about 10 minutes from arriving at the car returns to getting on the shuttle. "

When I finally got to the counter, there was only 1 car left in my class...and it was mediocre at best. That notwithstanding, I was advised that my spouse could be easily added to the reservation when he landed 2 days later by stopping in skipping the line and passing his license to sign the forms. This of course was NOT the case. He was made to wait in a long line, again, and then told that he could not be added because I was not physically present (I was 2.5 hours away so that was not feasible). I was on the phone and could have easily provided the needed info to prove my consent. But no. You should know that other car companies would not have been so inflexible and contradictory. Most of them accept the spouse automatically0, some without even taking their license. I will NEVER use this at LAX again nor would I recommend them. Price was the only good thing about this reservation. But it was not worth it in the end. "

We asked where was the online check in machine and was told they do not do online check in you have to wait in the queue. They said we should have been informed of this when booking. We queued 45 minutes and then to make it worse we weren't given a choice of car. We visit Las Vegas every year and for many years used Alamo who do online check in and give a choice of car. I blame this poor service to Autoeurope, I booked Alamo with you last year and got great online booking service. I expected the same this year and was let down greatly. Absolutely awful CRAP service. " I have sent a note about this car hire. We booked this rental via yourselves thinking it was Europcar. On arrival at Denver it was 'Advantage Car Rental'. We had full insurance including tyres and windscreen cover. We were told there was nothing to pay as we had already paid it all. It took ages to collect our car on 28th July as the first 2 cars offered to us had problems and there were big queues. We were very concerned by the condition and would have gone elsewhere but as we had prepaid we didn't see we had much choice. The first car had a huge gash out the tyre. The 2nd car also had a big gash out the tyre and said it needed a service. I raised my concern with the team leader who said we didn't need to worry as we had full insurance and offered $50 compensation for our wait. I said I just wanted a safe car and he said we had full roadside assistance for free (his name was Syed). He said we didn't need to worry about a thing. On return with no problems, the person taking in the car said we would just get an email receipt. We have now been billed $200 and another $146.21. Please can you dispute these charges and we were told verbally there would be no charges at collection of the car. Syed may remember us as I was so worried about the condition of the cars. This is a terrible car hire company, they are trying to rip us off now having given us a very bad service in the first place. There are charges listed on the agreement but we already had prepaid these and there are often charges listed even though you have already paid them. They said very clearly there was nothing extra to pay. You should seriously consider not using this company, the cars were all in poor condition. I have a photo of the bad tyres and message saying check engine oil from one of the cars they tried to give us. "

The vehicle had the front bumper/fender detached from a previous accident, there was no screenwash to clean the screen (common at Miami) and the tyre pressures of the vehicle were dangerously high and uneaven across all four wheels making driving in the wet horrible until I figured it out. Drop off takes ages as you have to be alert to find the badly signed Advantage desk. On return to finish the rental the same one person dealing with pick ups, deals with your return. Prey there is not a queue and factor extra time. "

This was a rip-off by a lying sales person. "

We were told that ours had been given to somone else, which after an 11 hour flight from the UK and a half hour wait for the Advantage shuttle bus was exactly the last thing I wanted to hear. The car that eventually turned up was a return immediate turnaround which had 42k on the clock, had most definatly seen more than its fair share of action and was covered in what looked like dog hairs inside. You can pay for the NYC bridge tolls etc on line by registering your license plate (registration number) with your credit card details for the duration of your rental as a generally much cheaper option depending on where you'll be driving. Advantage staff are helpful and prompt, providing a good service. "

" Taken to an Advantage depot somewhere in the industrial backstreets of San Francisco. Less than friendly reception staff who requested I sign an automated screen which claimed I had read and agreed to various documents which had not been shown to me prior to signing. I requested to see the documents referred to and this was reluctantly provided by the agent who was clearly annoyed at my request. Whilst reading the documents he made it plain that I could take it or leave it and go elsewhere if I was not happy. Having read the documents I decided to sign. He gave me the keys, took me to the only SUV available and walked off. The car was not very clean inside or out and was clearly well used with multiple scratches and dents etc which I duly recorded on the document provided. Faced with no alternative vehicle I decided to accept it to avoid the time consuming task of trying to arrange an alternative. Quality customer service is clearly not understood by staff at Advantage who even failed to give me the exit code for the security gate. Fortunately, despite my misgivings over the appearance of the car it did provide reliable service for the duration of my rental period. I paid to have it washed and valeted which also helped but the experience overall was far below the standard I have come to expect when arranging my previous rentals via Autoeurope. "

" Older vehicle nearly 20000 miles, they leave the inspection to you and a bit of paper the report issues. Car was dirty, windows all water marked and internally dusty. Could not be bothered to go back to the desk to report this after a 9 hour flight all I wanted to do was drive to hotel. "

" - In Miami (USA) we could not find Europecar at the car rental place. After questioning another car rental company, it turned out that we had to go to the 'Advance' car rental location. - The counter staff adviced us to rent a tol device as well for $10 a day. We were not prepared and decided to do so. It turned out that this was not really needed. It would be great if Europecar had mentioned this option on the site, to be prepared. - Further car and service were great. "

" The car was excellent and then experience once we left the counter was perfect but i was bitterly disapointed at the staffs insistence on seeling add ons that i ddi not ant or understand. Had this been my fisrt trip to Florida rather than my 20th i would have been frigtenened into making un necessary and expensive add ons. It is a foul practice. "

" It's not Europcar in JFK they sub contract to Advantage and they were awful. Bridge tolls alone will cost me almost as much as the 8 day rental and the car was used from and to JFK with one other journey. No mention of rip-off toll charges at the time of renting so I've been tricked into a contract that has cost me twice what it indicated originally. Auto Europe must know how Europcar conducts its business so Auto Europe is culpable too. "

" Overall very good - received an upgrade as the guy spotted it was my birthday from my driver's license. He forgot to process my pre-paid tank of guess but the guy at drop off spotted it and allowed me to pay it then. Great customer awareness. Only slight criticism was that the "maintenance required! warning message came on with 4 days of my rental to go. "

" Excellent in all aspects. May be helpful to give info to renters in Florida to buy a Suncoast pass. Lots of roads around Orlando and the airport are toll roads and the pass can be purchased from other outlets other than the car hire desk. Makes life easier to have either a pass or plenty of coins. Tolls range from 75cents to 1.5$ and some off-ramps are Suncoast pass only and this can be stressful. Nice clean car, easy to drive and economical. "

" Firstly, when booked it was not clear that the pick up was off the airport site and had to get a shuttle bus, then when we got to site they said that we could not fit our luggage in the car we booked and wanted to charge an extra $400 to upgrade, when I refused they said they would upgrade for free if I prepaid for fuel, by this time we had been up for 30 hours and were extremely tired so felt that we had no choice, we took the car they gave us which was so big that I did not feel comfortable driving it and we did not feel safe. The next day we went back and swapped the car for a more reasonable size car,we asked about the petrol and was told that we would get the deposit plus extra petrol money back. When we returned the car we were told that the difference was only $2 which was ridiculous and was then told that had we took the car back full we would have been refunded the whole amount, this was the first time we had been told this, we said $2 dollars was not acceptable so they refunded a little more but we have been completely ripped off when we know that it costs around $40 dollars to fill the tank. "

" Very unhappy to have money taken off a card but than refused to use the same card at hire company so just wasted £155 and spoiled holiday "
" I was allowed to use a pre-paid car to pay your company but not to pay for deposit at car hire company so I lost my £155 payment and no car. This should have been highlighted more or I would have used my wife's card without problems. "

" Auto Europe provided good service however the agents ( Europecar at JFK were very difficult to find and the rental seemed to be through Advantages) Service at JFK was very slow "

" Trainee at rental counter with nobody overseeing her had to enter my information 3 times. Took over an hour to get the car. The car had a broken windscreen wiper that we didn't see until it started raining that I had to fix while standing in the rain. Any speed over 50mph the steering wheel would shake constantly due to tyres out of balance. I would have returned the car if we weren't already an hour outside of Boston before we went fast enough to notice it. The car also had a strong smell as though it had been smoked in. Not a pleasant experience. "
