" After arriving at 9.30pm to pick up the car we were told that there were no cars available . There was a line of at least 25 to 30 people waiting.... I managed to get through the line and showed them my paid reservation....dollar reservation number #K63415158A2 . I was then told that we could wait on cars arriving 3 to 4 hours but couldn't guarantee a time..that would have taken us to 3.30/4.30 am ......... by that time we spoke to a manager who told us to come back on Sunday morning before 12.... We had to pay a taxi from fort Lauderdale to west Pam beach $65 then a return on Sunday morning $65 ...we called ahead to make sure cars were available and was told that they couldn't guarantee that but we could wait until some arrived .....when we eventually got to speak to member of staff they told us that they could not discount or help us as we booked through a 3rd party.....lost a day of our vacation a days rental and $130 very poor customer service from dollar....the car wasn't cleaned...... "

" We arrived late into Ft Lauderdale to find the rental position closed until 05.00 am. We had a reservation for a car and no provision was made to fulfil that reservation. However at 05.00 am (after spending a very uncomfortable night in the rental building) we find there are no cars available. We had to wait another hour and a half before one was ready. On Monday this vehicle developed a fault which brought up a series of warning lights on the dashboard including the engine management light, this was accompanied by a loss of power and a misfire. We were just outside Naples when this happened, so decided to see if there was a Thrifty desk at Naples airport, we were in luck spotted a Thrifty sticker on the window of the Terminal. We ventured inside but guess what desk was closed. However there was a placard that said Hertz were available for queries. They were very helpful and within half an hour had found us a replacement vehicle. "

" On arrival at SIXT office staff were sullen and unco-operative and unwelcoming. The staff member that took our details was more engaging and helpful. However our rental was for 41(?) days and the signout receipt he gave was for only 28 days. An email would be sent to me at the start of the remainder of the rental. It was not. I did not know if the car I was driving after 28 days would have been reported as stolen or not insured. On returning the car I accidentally left a bag with my passport, covid passes, credit cards, driving license and cash on the driver seat, and left the SIXT depot. I returned within an hour desperate to find my belongings. The same sullen response from the staff. My property HAD NOT been handed to management, HAD NOT BEEN put in the safe, and I was not notified of its status. Staff begrudgingly said that a wallet had been found, but they did not know who found it or where it was. After a delay we witnessed it being brought from what we believe to be a non-fleet vehicle. Passport was there, covid passes, credit cards, driving license but not cash. Raised issue with manager; obviously the cash had been stolen and if I was not quicker I believe the passport and contactless credit cards would have been sold or used. The manager accepted that protocol for lost property had not been met and refunded the $75 dollars stolen to the Auto Europe Account. Can I have it please? I am also addressing this complaint to SIXT themselves. "

Significantly, the brake discs appeared to be warped and whilst it did not pose a safety issue, I was not happy with the overall condition. " I've used Alamo often in the US and have always been impressed but my opinion has changed following our Pick Up at Fort Lauderdale Airport. We had rented 3 vehicles for our family holiday and so there were 3 Lead drivers and 3 separate Check ins. We all had the same experience of a VERY HARD sell at the desk from 3 different members of the Alamo staff, "Would you like this extra insurance or that extra Breakdown Cover?" "You're not fully covered for this and it could be expensive if you break down" We all felt that there was no real customer service just how much extra could they screw out of us!! We all refused any extras... The 3 cars went well, we had the Alamo Gold Package and had no problems except one of the Sat Navs didn't work. Drop Off went very smoothly and the staff at Drop Off were extremely helpful and a very different experience from check in. I did get 3 X $25 vouchers to use because of the broken SatNav. The Check In experience has made me reconsider using Alamo again. Beyond that it was all fine, with a good price via Auto Europe. "

" Having picked the car up from Ft Lauderdale and paid for a full tank of fuel, the fuel light came on just 5 miles into our journey. I had to find the nearest gas station and filled it which took $42! It was only in the light that we also noticed that the interior of the car was filthy. Absolutely filthy with food crumbs all over the rear seat and chocolate all over the front seats. I immediately called the number on the hire agreement but this went to an answer machine on every occasion I called it. The collection point for the car was dark and we we were tired from our long trip which is why I hadn't noticed the condition or fuel level of the car. I have been told that the phone number is answered at her weekends! Seriously!? I cleaned the car and on returning it to Orlando International Airport, reported it to the lady in the reception booth. She couldn't have been more UNHELPFUL! She stated it wasn't her problem and that we needed to speak to the Ft Lauderdale branch. I explained that the phone number wasn't being answered to which she replied "just keep trying, I can't help you". I have used autoeurope on lots of occasions and have never had such poor service. I am hoping that a sensible resolution to this complaint may restore my faith back in your company but at the moment it is totally shattered. "

However, we had to add a day to our car hire due to unforeseen circumstances and were charged $78 approx. as we were charged for two lots of fuel (one for original hire and one for the extra day's hire) which we feel was rather unfair. " I am pleased to have the opportunity of commenting on my recent car rental with Budget. On picking the car up (at Fort Lauderdale Airport) the desk operator first tried to get me to pay for fuel - my agreement included the "free tank of fuel". Secondly and more importantly, whilst my rental agreement included all drivers aged 25 or over and the free tank of fuel", she claimed that my son (aged 31) was not covered and we would have to pay $65 to include him. I explained that the wording was "includes all drivers aged 25 or over" but she refused to include my son as a driver without additional payment. This put an additional pressure on me to drive 100% of the time - that restricted the distances we travelled. I emailed Budget on the day (Sunday 6 January 2019) explaining this and asked two questions - one for confirmation the desk operator was wrong; and secondly how could we get my son enabled to drive. Other than the automatic response that was sent immediately - I heard from Budget on the 8th (Tuesday) advising that as I had booked through Auto Europe they had forwarded my "submission" to them. On receiving this I also emailed Auto Europe including the email thread (to customerservice@autoeurope.com). This resulted in the usual automated reply. As I had not heard anything further from Auto Europe - I emailed again on Friday 11 January requesting an urgent response - all I then received was the usual automated response. Clearly we are back home in the UK - and, to date, AutoEurope have not provided me the courtesy of a reply. I would like to know why the desk operator acted in the way she did - was it just a method of getting further money from me (as a renter)? If this is the case i.e. she was wrong then I wish to formally complain to Budget. I look forward to hearing from you on this as soon as possible. "

I had to take a cab at a cost of $65 to my destination and then back to the airport the next day after doing research on Advantage to get another phone number and spending an additional $65. " AE is one of 2 or 3 regular hire outlets I use. Generally works well but hirer is still exposed to the desk clerk and local supply issues, usually at the point in journey where any hassle is not appreciated. And AE is not there to help!! You do need to chase Alamo about the primacy of my AE contract - you offered $10 second driver, Alamo rejected this. NOT ACCEPTABLE. (It was only a 6 day hire so small beer but not palatable). Even with AE in the loop and a reputable rental company the desk experience is still stressful and loaded against the hirer. Sadly not a new lesson. "

So I don't enjoy a desk clerk whose clarity of speaking was poor and not helped by a large noisy reception area. I think I was offered a hatchback (Intermediate?) in place of the with-trunk Standard. There was then a buzz of upselling - SUV? Roadside insurance? We needed a second driver which your documetation said we could have for $10/day but Alamo insisted on $12/day. At this stage the desk guy spooted the opportunity to deliver rather than annoy, took the $12 and used that to upgrade to a Premium vehicle. Bigger is not always better - just means parking more difficult and MPG worse - but result was OK. "

" Car supplied was not a mid-size but a compact Kia Soul. There was not enough room in the back for adults or in the boot for a suit case. Also, an engine fault light was constantly on and the car was hesistant when pulling away, which I felt was dangerous. I had to exchange the car which involved a 200-mile round trip. The replacement car, which was mid-size, was in poor conditon and the handle on the passengar did not work "

" This is only for "Europcar" in Fort Lauderdale which turned out not to be "Europcar " but a company called Advantage. The car smelled of cigarette smoke and there was not enough air in one tire, so we had to sort that out ourselves. Retuning the car turned out to be a nightmare. We were in good time (3,5 hours before flight departure). Finding return was easy, but then we had to take the shuttle bus to the airport and there where hundreds of people queuing. We waited 30 minutes and not one bus turned up. An official told us that there were 4 buses in circulation but we didn't see any. He then told us that we could walk to the terminal and explained the way. So we walked with 5 cases in 30c heat for half an hour before we finally got there. A lot of other car renters did the same. It was absolutely exhausting and a terrible ending of a holiday. "

" I booked with Auto-Europe. The Voucher said Europcar. When we arrived very tired after long flights at Fort Lauderdale there was no ign of either company in the Rental Car Offices. Having asked a few people someone suggested that my booking could be with E-Z Car Rental. We lugged our cases up to their stall and yes they acknowledged our booking. That wasted 30 mins! We then got our car and left the rental offices only to find that while I contracted for a Full Gas tank to return full, it was currently empty, so we went back and it was filled. Another 20 Minute delay. During our hire period I then received several emails from Advantage Car Hire who I had never heard of. Apparently they too were involved in my hire, and if all 4 companies mentioned are making a profit out of my rental, no wonder it could not have been much cheaper. The car ran well except for a slow puncture in the drivers side rear tyre which I had to top up ith air every 2 days. Apart from that the rental was uneventful. But you have to get over your identity crisis and communicate with clients, and get the basics right! "

" I have a few complaints regarding this rental, not least of which is the underhand way I have been upgraded. I arrived at Fort Lauderdale Int'l after a 9 hour flight and on on picking my car up I was told by the rental car guy that I have been given a VW Beetle, I said that was fine. He then said "let's see if I can do better" and suggested a Nissan at no time did he tell me I would have to pay for the upgrade I didn't need. I was then rushed through the acceptance process with the rental guy speaking twenty to the dozen and apparently glossing over the extra cost. Yesterday I was travelling as a passenger so I quickly read through the rental agreement. On it states I have agreed to pay $3.00 a day upgrade which in itself is not that much but the agreement states my extra charges at $129.67!!!! I am furious with the Rental company for taking advantage of a tired tourist. Also the trunk did not lock and the car was very scratched with nobody in the garage to tell. I need to know why I have been charged nearly $130 dollars extra and on top of that why if I received a free full tank of gas why was it only 7/8 full. I would like you to investigate these extra charges and hopefully someone will see there way to refunding me $129.67.
