" We were to be getting a Toyota Corolla but during a walk round my wife noticed a damaged tyre sidewall on the passenger front as she has experienced difficulty with this kind of damage before we refused to take the car while the Hertz employee was saying it's noted and everything will be ok my wife and I decided not to accept the car and the employee said he would have to speak to his manager who in turn said we could have the Nissan Versa that was next to it which in turn was a basic model and did not have the spec the Corolla had we accepted this and the employee then gave the keys of the Corolla to the customer who was to get the Versa we pointed out the damaged tyre to the customer as they never got a walk round with an employee. It was later in the day when we were on our way to Whiistler that we realised they never changed the paperwork.We informed the Hertz employee at Calgary Airport when we were dropping the car off about the paperwork he just nodded and went on with his business off checking over the car,Overall I was dissatisfied with the way Hertz handled the situation and I would like to say this has no reflection on autoeurope "

Upsold to an almost brand new American thing. after getting ready to drive off we couldnt work the sat nav - nor could the Hertz Rep. it needed a car log in likely a google account to operate. so he swapped us to a much older Ford that rattled. Stopping for lunch 2hrs later we find a bulging side wall on the tire we didnt spot at the depot also can be seen in out condition photos we took. Then lost a full day of holiday trying to get it fixed. Luckily Hertz reimbursed us all but $17 of the $524 cost we had to pay for - but still lost a days holiday. "

" According to the Hertz website, a Hertz Gold Plus member is allowed to add a second driver free if they are your spouse regardless if you booked directly on Hertz.ca or via a third partly like AutoEurope. The manager at Hertz refused to allow us to add the second driver for free, and kept insisting that we cancel the reservation with AutoEurope and rebook with them which is not something we wanted to do. As AutoEurope, I highly recommend you speak to Hertz as effectively they are asking customers to cancel their reservations and rebook with them. "

" Pick up of the vehicle from Calgary Airport was very poor, long queues and only one or two counter staff. We deliberately booked with a Big International car hire company expecting a swifter efficient process, but instead we got something similiar to "Goldstar" in Mallorca Airport ( I did it once but never again). Having said that there appeared to be no quibble nabout minor scratches and scuffs upon pick-up and no forensic inspection on drop off at Vancouver. Prices seemed very high at a cost of £1,570 for 14 days for a so-called Mini Van. The costs included a one way charge for Calgary to Vancouver, but in fact the car originated from Vancouver and I was really just returning it ! The vehicle itself was perfect for our needs as with the 3rd row of seats folded it provided good seating for 4 and took a LOT of luggage. we could not have managed with an ordinary large car. No problems with the car itself, which had done 76,000 kms on pick-up, and we drove it a further 3,000Kms in 2 weeks. No GPS, but I had downloaded maps on to my phone and used a mapping and GPS system which didnt rely on an internet and therefore data connection. "

" We used Google maps via my mobile phone using android auto. This saved us a hefty additional fee. So I would definitely get confirmation that this is available on any car being booked. It comes up directly on the vehicles media screen and can be controlled from there too. Auto Europe were easy to deal with, but to save any worries if booking an early deal, check your details thoroughly before submission, as any changes later can be done, but only after re-pricing your booking at that days price. I'd made a one and half hour mistake in our arrival time, and if I hadn't of paid fully in advance (Hertz will hold the car until midnight if you do), it would have doubled my rental price. "

" I was concerned that I had to sign for the condition of the car, which was described as having 'no damage', before I'd even seen it. The guy assured me I could come back if I found anything and sure enough the car had damage all over it ranging from a large key scratch on the front passenger door to scratches on just about every other panel. This delayed our departure as I then had to go back and wait in a lengthy queue to get hertz to agree the damage; so not a very good experience and one which could have been avoided if they had flagged up the existing damage on the form in the first place "

" Auto Europe is always very competitive and the booking process is easy and the terms are clear. The rental companies get clear paperwork from Auto Europe. I have used Auto Europe on several occasions and have always been satisfied. "
" The check in process took extremely long. The price to rent a satnav was about $17 a day which is extortionate for a 2 week rental (even if there is a maximum). It was cheaper to buy our own satnav. I think Hertz should review their prices for satnav rental. The car was fine even though it was scratched everywhere and the front number plate looked like it was going to fall off every minute. The return was speedy and efficient. All in all, we were satisfied with our experience. However, we had used Avis last time who provided a better car that had an in-built satnav for roughly the same price that we paid to Hertz. So next time, I would probably use Avis again. "

" Was given a very average condition car with lots of scratches and dents which were ,I thought, all identified on pick up. On return they immediately saw a scratch on the under sill and accused me of having done it. The suggestion was to hold $500 for repair. Thankfully after much argument an employee overturned the counter staffs view saying it was already a very old car and to let me leave without further penalty This action embarrassed me and really embarrasses a company like Hertz. Why charge people for scratches and dents then give you the same car still with the same scratches and dents which presumably have charged other customers to fix. Just a sad rip off system and demeans the company and its customer. I'll never rent Hertz again. "

" I normally rent with Alamo. This time I tried Hertz and it was the best experience. The agent checking the car out was not interested in assisting me. He didnt take the time to check if we needed anything extra and was generally very disengaged in the process. He mentioned that I was his first customer and how he had just woken up. I tried to change the car as it didnt work for our family. Hertz were not helpful in this process. In fact we had to leave with a car that didnt work for our needs. The car did not have a full tank of gas. When I mentioned this to the agent they said sorry, nothing we can do about that, please return it full. I will not be using Hertz again. "

Only slight bit of negative feedback that I can think of was that the vehicle seemed to be close to the end of it's period as a rental vehicle. There were quite a few obvious scratches and a dent that needed work and it wasn't a particularly new model. This is only a minor criticism as the vehicle worked perfectly and was in good condition in the interior. "
