" Expect better. Car had 37,000 km's on it and had seen some action. N/S/F tyre was edged and only just legal. Hertz had to come out to me during the rental period as the tax or insurance expired the end of September. They did catch it so I was never illegal but the car was issued to me knowing that it would expire whilst on rental. Expect more from Hertz, was like renting from a local small company without the cost savings! "

" This has been a terrible experience with your company. I booked and paid for a Vehicle in May (5th of May) this year to pick up at the Hertz car rental at the Mauritius Intl Airport (Voucher Ref UK4454882-1). On arrival at the airport on 7 August and was told the vehicle I booked was not available. I was instead offered a VAN which was effectively a downgrade which I of course refused. The Hertz rep told me that they did not have any other vehicle and I had no choice but to accept the vehicle I have been offered or he would record that I was a no show and will not get any refund. I also requested to speak to the Manager of the Herz rental but the counter staff flatly refused saying that they were not interested in speaking to me. Based on the unprofessional and rude way I was been treated, I told the rep that he had given me no choice but to start recording our conversation and I needed evidence to show how he was treating me (very rude and unprofessional). To my surprise, the Rep then proceeded to call the POLICE on me. Safe to say when the POLICE arrived and saw that I had done nothing wrong but was insisting on the hire contract to be honoured, they had no choice but to leave me and adviced I rent another vehicle so that I could get my family to the hotel after a long trip. At this point I tried to call your office and had to wait 20mins each time to talk to your rep. The first Auto Europe Rep kept me on hold for another 30mins and after losing the call, I had to call again. The second rep I spoke to said she would call me back to give me an alternative to get myself and the family out of the airport. After waiting 2 hrs at the booking desk without hearing back from your company and mindful I had been kept waiting after a 12hrs flight from London (with a 5 year old in attendance), I had no choice but to make an alternative and very expensive booking of over £800. Now obviously I have a lot to be aggrieved about but firstly my concern is to recover the amount I had paid for the booking as this was not honoured and I ended up paying a very expensive rate at the counter as I was stuck with no help from your company. Update: I just called again today 17 Aug 2018 at 1.05pm and I was told I had to call again tomorrow as the customer service department only work between the hours of 9 to 1pm in the afternoon "

" The Hertz office was in a hotel 15 min away from hours by taxi We went there and security wouldn't let us in so they rang hertz When Hertz man arrived he said he'd have delivered car but didn't know where we were staying - suggestion - ask for name of hotel of guest during booking! "

" Our booking was made under the wrong driver name with Hertz Mauritius (Otto Martinez instead of Iain Sinclair), meaning that Hertz refused to give us the only car that had as in-case this mystery passenger presented themselves. We were asked to take a taxi. After a lot of arguing and some time later we managed to convince them that it was a mistake and that the issue lay elsewhere. Needless to say this was very inconvenient and certainly not what we would expect from Auto Europe or Hertz. "
