" The plane was late. When I arrived at the airport Autovia office was closed , unlike all of the others. there was a paper with a number to ring which was answered by a machine to take a message. When I phoned the next morning they said that the booking was cancelled as I did not turn up to collect the car. The I went to the office later in the morning the man said I could not have my booked car , I could not make a new booking , I could not have my a refund "

" Long queue & wait before getting to counter - this was frustrated by people in queue going to the front for 'fast tracking' as they were preferential customers. Vehicle had quite a number of scratches - all documented but vehicle proved to be very comfortable & reliable. Surprised we had to pay some sort of local tax per day amounting to 64 euros on top of rental charges already paid. "

" We often use Auto Europe and have always been very satisfied. "

" Only 2 staff and a long queue at the Avis/Budget counter. We waited nearly 50 minutes to collect the car despite having a Budget Quick Pass (this was completely pointless/ineffective). We were allocated a SEAT Arona with a smaller boot - it only took one medium-sized case - than a Volkswagen T-Cross. The bodywork had extensive dents and scratches. As some had not been recorded on the rental paperwork, it meant going back to the counter which delayed our journey even more. As we made sure we got to the airport early, the drop-off process was more efficient. This was the first time we had rented a Budget car and we are unlikely to do so again. "

" Car handed over at 11.30pm with no condition check. Car parked in the dark so could not check condition. Next day found many dents and scratches. Returned to airport next day to draw attention to this. Still no inspection. Took my own photos. On returning car, still no inspection. On return to UK received email with damage report claiming compensation. Whole experience unlike anything in UK - very unprofessional. "

The young lady was very helpful, there was a problem with the first car allocated but the second car was good and fit for purpose (not cleaned but that was fine given the circumstances). The reason I would not recommend is based on my experience three days prior at Pisa where the service was appalling. "

" I was allocated a Hyundai i20. This is not a suitable vehicle for car hire. It has many audible warnings. Its camera picks up signs from side roads, slip roads; displays them on the screen then bings, bongs, buzzs, screeches at you whist driving. I took it back and asked for a less 'tech' car. "

" The car was dreadful - damage on every panel. It was a hybrid which we weren't told about and I haven't driven before. I got used to it. Also it had 78000 kilometres on the clock! "

I APPRECIATE I WAS ENTIRELY TO BLAME BUT A LITTLE SUPPORT AT THE AIRPORT WOULD NOT HAVE GONE AMISS OR SOME KIND OF REIMBURSEMENT. MY HUSBAND IS 80 YEARS OLD AND IT WAS NOT A 'HEALTHY' SITUATION TO BE IN! ESPECIALLY AS IT WAS A SUNDAY AND NO ONE ELSE AT THE AIRPORT WHICH INCIDENTALLY WE QUEUED AT THE DESK FOR OVER A HOUR. WON'T BE RECOMMENDING AUTO EUROPE TO ANYONE SOON. "

Car was good, but when we returned to the airport the desk was shut even though they advertised that it would be open. Also I have received a very complicated bill which stated that I owe them money, a whole 96p which has been taken from my credit card! With the fee that is a £1.00. I don't understand why I owe them money if I paid you for a car - we have hired literally hundreds of cars from Perugia over the years usually Sicily by Car and this is the first time this has happened. I know it is a tiny amount but still seems a little weird to me. "

Last year my hired car developed a puncture. Sicily by car did not repair the puncture. They came and took the car away, leaving me stranded. The house in 10km from the nearest shops. However, one of the Perugia airport team came to collect me when it was time to depart and himself took me to the airport. I lodged a complaint when I returned to the UK. I was charged about £50 for the repair of the puncture, from which I had no benefit. "

But we got a Fiat 500x. This is clearly smaller with a curved back window and less storage space. Hertz actually have a picture of the Fiat in there paperwork (which the assistant showed us). But nevertheless we then had trouble loading our bags and there was no option to change or even upgrade at our cost. Frustrating when everything about the process was very smooth "

The car i was allocated was quite basic Renault Twingo, a small car> it had 50K on the clock and in average condition, and could have been cleaner inside, but we had no problems with it for the week we had hired it. Car collection was pretty straight forward in the airport. Standard paperwork was processed but my copy of the form I signed was unintelligible because the carbon copies and the handwriting made it almost impossible to read the detail on the form. But we had not problems and the car was dropped off where we picked it up from, with the keys 'posted' through a letter box at the Avis kiosk, which was closed when we arrived to get our flight. To be honest I would far rather leave the car keys with a person who cold validate with me, that the car was returned in the same condition, before i leave the country, so that any issues can be dealt with there and then. "

" Sadly due to the fact and uncertainty of the Covid 19 virus abc that I am a care giver to vulnerable people I sadly cancelled my booking just over 48 hours. My booking was through Auto Europe they stated Budget would have already taken the payment so couldn't refund or allow me to book in April which is what I wanted to do. I rang Budget direct they suggested I needed to talk to Autoeuropa. Budget in Italy did offer a discount but this was more expensive than internet prices. I was very disappointed noted to not travel and not to be able to transfer my booking. Thanks "

Staff were very pleasant but had probably had enough by time we arrived at counter and wanted their lunch. " Unfortunately, for the first time using Maggiore, the car was not in good condition when I picked it up. I did not immediately notice that there was no water to wash the windscreen, nor did I see until I needed to use it that the boot was extremely dirty -- it looked like someone had used it to transport bricks as there was red dust throughout and some plastic sheeting. I reported this at drop-off but the kind woman there said that because I'd picked up the car in Perugia she couldn't give me a discount. This is the first time I've ever had such a problem with either Maggiore or Auto Europe. It didn't ruin my holiday, of course, but it didn't make a great impression. I do wish to state however that I love Auto Europe for its efficiency, good prices and convenience. I use it 99% of the time when I hire a car abroad. "

Found the car in the bay we were told it would be in. It was clean and tidy. Return was again no problem - quick and efficient and no attempts to claim we had damaged the car. You often hear horror stories about budget car rentals but this was an entirely positive experience - will certainly use Sicily by Car again. "

" Cheap headline rate but inadequate fuel monitoring cost much more than the saving to the next offer. "

" Nice people but very slow in getting the cars to the (long) queue. The 'full to full' fuel policy does not work. Gauge showed full but started to fall within 15km of the pickup. When I filled the tank during the rental it was over 100km before the needle fell that much. I got ripped off for +/- 100km of fuel. That is a big extra bill. "

" I was unable to collect my car but to my photo driving licence being expired by 4 weeks. I would have accepted this decision however I called the DVLA who faced a certified copy of my paper license detailing my license expiry date of 2049.... They originally accepted this after waiting around for over 2 hours and then your colleague decided to change her mind at last minute at decline us our rental car. We had no other option other than to pay 170 euro to our hotel and then the same amount back. We were also unable to visit any other towns as per our plans due to not having our car. We felt this had a huge impact on our holiday "

I then had to drive for 1 hour to Europecar in Arezzo where they could only give me a fiat panda ...I had rented an Alpha Romeo . I was informed that there would be no rebate of the difference in rental of the Alpha Romeo and the Fiat panda . The rental fees are considderably different .This whole proceedure took up two half days of a five day holiday "

" The car provided was faulty in that the dipped headlights did not work, so it was necessary to drive at night using the beam only. This is dangerous and upset many oncoming drivers. The car absolutely should have been checked before being let out and not let out in this condition. Claudio on the desk was very pleasant and apologetic when I reported the fault. I brought the car back on Wednesday, after 48hrs, but no one was there so I could not hand it back and ask for a replacement. This was a major problem throughout the week given that the days are short at this time of year. If I ever use this company again I will have to check the car myself before driving off. What if the brakes had been faulty? "
