There was a mix up with the car I was given and a key left in the vehicle which I thought was a spare until I later discovered was due to my being given the wrong car. " 1. Just one member of staff at car collection, despite multiple prebooked customers in queue. 2. Online check-in while waiting in queue did not work as the online form asked for Italian National Insurance Number as mandatory field. I am dual citizen and I have an Italian National Insurance Number but did not have it with me and did not remember it by heart, so online check-in did not work 3. Check-in included a paper form to be filled in by hand with my main details, when all the relevant details had been already provided at the time of the booking with Auto Euope 4. At checkout no Viaggiare staff was present at car park and in the Viaggiare office either (office was closed and locked despite the checkout being during the working hours of the office). I dropped the key in an hidden postbox which had a sign stating that in case of key dropping the driver had the responsibility to take pictures and videos of the car and the dashboard (for petrol) and send them via email. This was never advised at checkin and the car park is a 10mins walk from the office (with bags and everything) under the sun. Combined with upcoming flight it is deemed not possible to do this. I therefore called a number displayed outside the office to be told that the staff was on lunch break (from the contract they knew I was going to check out at that time) and therefore the office was closed. They stated dropping the keys was at my own risk but given the upcoming flight and the fact all went ok during the rental we agreed it was ok to drop the keys and go. 5. One day after checkout I received an invoice of 25EUR covering a cleaning fee because the car had "sand" in places. The rental location is a seaside resort - how is the user meant to hoover the sand off the car while on holiday? There is a larger cleaning fee for waste left in the car and proper dirt, but a bit of sand is really part of a "wear and tear" approach during the rental. Google and Tripadvisor reviews of Viaggare have almost every customer complaining about this 25EUR post rental cleaning fee. It feels a simple default extra charge for everyone, when Viaggiare would surely hoover the car for the next customer anyway. "

Only down side was representative would not check the car and give me a final bill. I returned the vehicle with a full tank and no damage caused by me. In the past I have been accused of late return, damage that if there was any, had not been done by me. Friends have been charged for fuel when in fact like me they returned with a full tank. I do have another booking with Sciley by car hire and hope that shortly I see the return of the money charged in advance with no deductions. I have used Sciley by car before and have been pleased with the service, including the checking of the vehicle on return. Really hope that they can do this check in the future for me and others as it really does put people at ease, and would also increase my likely hood of giving a higher score to the questions you ask. This is despite the fact that rental documents states that there is damage to the front bumper. We have charged for a scratch greater than 200mm, I have a picture and it's smaller than my thumb. It appears that Avis are trying to make money from damage to the car. As stated the car had damage in a number of areas, all stated in the agreement. "

We came back next day and new assistant told us they had cancelled our car hire!!! We were misinformed. We had no car. We had to phone yourselves who told us that you hadn't cancelled car but car by Scilily had! You got us another car with budget immediately and said it could be done for £30 cancellation fee which we accepted. There was another couple of ladies from Belgium told the same story. They had come back the next day for their car and theirs was cancelled as well. They rebooted with budget. Overall shocking treatment. Can you please put complaint into car by Scilily and report back feedback to me "

" The car was not ready at the time booked and I had to wait a considerable time for my vehicle. This is not the first time that this has happened at Pescara. The car was then dropped off outside in the private car park where a ticket system applied. The car was filthy with dents and bumps all over and even the gear stick cover had come loose but had not been sorted out. The whole experience in Pescara is always the same with incompetent staff who couldn't care less about customer service or customer satisfaction. Today I have noticed an unauthorised charge on my credit card. So now I must begin the whole process of investigating this again. I had similar issues last year with charges. It is well known that the car rental companies in Italy will try everything to get extra charges from the customers usually by trying to sell extra insurance. Please investigate this matter further and update me. Thank you. "

" booking through auto europe was easy, delay getting the car at Pescara which is frsutrating. Price was OK, drop off very easy as the employee met us in the car park. Car was good. Only had 7/8 tank fuel which was an extra cost to us as we returned it full. "

" When we took the car we were told that there was no damage and we accepted this. When we took the car back, having had no collisions known, they scutanised the car and pointed out a very minor mark on the bumper and insinuated that it was our doing. As far as I can see any minor issue such as this is covered by the standard insurance anyway. The other thing is that we have been charged twice for the hire on our debit card and are now trying to recover the money, which is not good. "

" I own a little holiday home and therefore am in Italy often for 3-4 days at a time. The hire process is fast and painless, but there is no discount or loyalty card for frequent users. "
" The cars are new, clean inside and out so no complaints there, but the two times I have used this company the petrol gauge said full but within 2-3 miles one bar had gone. The company policy requires you to completely fill the tank and so I have ended up paying for other peoples petrol which was quite annoying. "

Keys were taken from me by a man in the (unlit) car park who refused to sign off the car and told me to 'go to the office'. Not a good practise - I had to just trust he was from Thrifty. I would not use Thrifty (aka Dollar, aka Sicily by Car, aka Auto Europa) again - even of they were the cheapest. Prefer Avis "
" We had booked a compact car but they wanted to give us a fiat 500 I protested and in the end they gave us a Volkswagen polo and upgrade to diesel and automatic which we where very pleased with "

" This was the best hire car I have had in Europe, period. The only better car was in the USA and only because it was a large Buick and like the Fiat I am reviewing, almost new. If I had any criticism it would be the colour black which is not goodin higher temperatures and the engine size was low for a car carrying four adults, especially on steep urban hills. But I would definately use Auto Europe again. "
