It just appeared at this stage from my point of view that there was a disconnect between the left and right hands in the rental administration. "

" On collection I was advised I could report any additional damage via the Sixt Portal which I duly did but the extra damage reported never showed. I sent a separate Email out of precaution at that point noting I had a full video of the condition of the vehicle as in addition to external damage not showing on the condition report, the parcel shelf for the boot was missing. In the Florida heat that was a real pain as couldn't ever really leave anything in the boot of the car both due to the heat and would have been on show. Might sound ungrateful but an X6 is a coupe so whilst technically an SUV, which is what I had booked, it meant I had to put one case on the rear seat. As we are a family of 3 we managed but it wasn't ideal. I had anticipated an X5 which would no doubt have accommodated the 4 cases we had with us. Every tyre on the car was a different make, from recollection some were all season tyres and some summer. Being brutally honest I would have expected same tyres on each axle as a minimum. That said collection was slick and the representative helpful and friendly. Return which was at the airport could have been a little easier if more staff on, it seemed to be one guy dealing with everything. He was understandably keen for me to sign off on the car on return but I felt I needed to film the condition carefully as the additional damage I had reported on collection had not shown in the App. Overall I'm not put off from using either AE or Sixt again just a few issues that Sixt could do better on. "

Then treated me like a worthless customer by the check in staff - they claimed my car was no longer there as I was 3 hours late - in fact I was 2hrs 20 mins which also included the 20 mins plus waiting time for the airport pick up. I told the representative that I was delayed because flight was delayed from London due to a tyre having to be replaced on the aircraft. Car in class I booked not available due to delay so they offered to upgrade me but I had to pay more despite paying for my rental up front - would not let me have the car for the same price. Said my car was in lowest class so nothing available in a lower class. The pressure from the staff was very strong and aggressive. However I stood my ground and after a significant time and the rep talking to his manager I finally got a car for the price already paid. What was also interesting was that the same tactic was also employed on another customer just as I was finishing up - shameful behaviour. One of the worst experiences ever renting a car - totally and utterly unacceptable behaviour. Scam artists / rip off merchants. "

" I have a paper driving license which i have used with no problem in Florida for 20 yrs. When i presented this at their Sixt checkin counter the Lady told me that paper licenses were no longer accepted by Sixt and it said that on the website. When I told her there was no such statement she then changed tack and said that I had defaced the license (I had some sellotape on the folds due to the age of the license but otherwise it was intact). I explained that Alamo and Dollar had no issues such as this previously and she then said she would photo the license and send to her Manager for a decision. The Manager said they would accept the licence but due to the additional risk i posed I would have to pay $500 for additional comprehensive insurance. I explained that I was already covered thru the AutoEurope booking and I had additional insurance for wheel, undercarriage and glass taken out in the UK. She basically said pay the insurance or no rental. What a SCAM and not very moral !!! "

" On arrival there was some confusion- Sixt had a GPS reserved as extra on my order which I knew to be incorrect and not mentioned in my Auto Europe voucher. Detecting an up-sale trick Insisted it had not been ordered but would welcome one if offered without charge. The desk then told me they had to remove the extra charge and this took some time. The agent said the car would be a BMW which I was pleased about. When I reached the pick up area I was handed the keys to a Chevrolet mode that had no load cover in the trunk - not great for security. I complained to the check out guy who rand his colleague to explain that I'd expected a BMW and one with a luggage area that would not be visible to thieves. I was quickly given the keys to a BMW X1 and asked to leave them a glowing review!! The car was quite new and performed well although it's high tech dash interface was quite slow to hook up to my phone instructions each time the car started. I noticed on pick up that part of the front nearside wheel surround was missing but didn't worry about this as Sixt have a camera checkpoint in and out. On return it was very difficult to locate the car rental return area as all the road signs and also my GPS tried to send me to the rear of this area which is inaccessible. Eventually we found it by driving further around and then finding the return sign. Atlanta airport covers a vast area and it takes time to drive anywhere within this congested zone. The check-in guy was very quick and signed the car off within 3 minutes without any hassle. Overall, it was a positive experience mainly due to the car itself and the ease of driving once I had familiarised myself with the settings. "

They had no spare batteries so we had to move to a second car. This was in even worse shape with worn out carpets, more dents and scratches and the bumper kept coming loose. But the warning light for tyres stayed on the entire time (the guy checked and said pressure was fine so he wasn't sure why the light stayed on). But after moving all our luggage once and the late hour i just accepted it and took the car, but I took a video and photos of all the damages so we wouldn't get charged. The email sent to me on 04 February 2023 (Reservation Number: 9927940592), stated a vehicle return time of 11am, Feb 6. As we were not sure of the exact time we collected the vehicle, we assumed that the time in the email was correct and we endeavoured to return the vehicle by 12pm, 6 Feb. The vehicle was returned safely around 11:30 am 6 Feb, at the designated parking lot and we walked to the office to return the keys. I was surprised to find that we were charged an extra day although we followed the instructions of the counter staff when we collected the vehicle. This has left a very unpleasant impression on an otherwise enjoyable experience. I trust that you will review the emails sent to me and the comments and kindly waive the extra day charges. In this instance there was no difference in the voucher between having purchased the with GPS included and having pre-booked GPS. I would suggest that the voucher clearly states whether the GPS is included or being pre-booked. As an aside, I was advised that all USA renters are disabling built in GPS navigation units in their fleets so that (a) they could charge for supplying a portable unit and (b) due to the chip shortage and the age of their fleets they were not willing to go to the expense of ongoing updates. " I have in the past rented cars from Sixt either direct or through a third party such as Auto Europe and I have always received exactly what was booked plus on occasion an upgrade. This was not the case this time, I thought that I had booked an SUV with GPS included in the price through Auto Europe but the Sixt office in San Diego insisted that the cost of the GPS was not included saying that this was down to renting through a third party as they (Sixt) did not offer such deals and therefore it was the third party who were at fault. At this point I asked to speak with the supervisor who reiterated that Sixt did not offer such deals and that I would have to pay for the GPS and take up the matter with Auto Europe when I returned to the UK. I refused this suggestion stating that I wanted what I had paid for which was a vehicle with GPS, after much discussion he agreed to waive the GPS charge. When I collected the car, I was handed a bag containing a Garmin portable GPS unit and on asking why was informed that all in-car GPS units had been disabled. The use of portable equipment that had to be affixed to the windscreen with only a 4 by 3 inch screen is not exactly conducive to safe driving especially when the unit is so slow that you have passed the turning before it tells you to turn. In addition, the unit I was given had not been updated for some time so that in some instances the directions given were not correct especially where road layouts had changed in respect of one way streets. "

After a long flight you just want to pick up your car and not have someone try to sell you expensive extras you do not want or spend lots of money upgrading your car. We were also charged for over £300 worth of extras that we did not agree to and as they had put in our wrong email address we were not made aware of these until we returned the car and they appeared on our credit card. We then had to phone the US twice from the UK to get this resolved. "

" Sixt was fine in terms of price, picking up the car and dropping it off. The problems arose when anything else was involved while on the road, since they are impossible to contact by phone and do not answer emails. On the evening of 30 April I got a flat tire in a remote location outside of Bishop, California. I managed to find and install the temporary spare tire and drive back to my hotel in Bishop. But the original tire needed to be repaired or replaced in order to continue the journey safely. I sent Sixt several urgent emails to the address provided on their receipt in case anything happens on the road, but have never received a response. And the number they provide for breakdowns and repairs (1-888-749-8543) is just a constant busy signal with no answer. So I emailed Auto Europe, who replied immediately that in the worst case scenario I should have the tire repaired and save the receipts, which I did the next day. When I dropped off the car at LAX on 3 May I complained about the situation. They apologized but said their system had been 'down'. Also, they claimed that because I opted for the Loss Damage Waiver and had not paid extra for roadside assistance, basically the flat tire was my problem and they refused to reimburse me for the repairs. Great customer service.... "

We arrived very tired to be told they didn't have the car we had booked and paid for but they had a higher spec model that had a built in sat nav so they would deduct the cost of the sat nav from the bill , although the higher spec car was more expensive., They then went on to act like a double glazing salesperson, saying we could have discount for travelling by British airways, discount for being a married couple etc, etc. I was so confused by the end of the discussion I didn't know what I had saved or what i had paid. Now I have come back and checked my online banking I have currently paid an extra £500 plus on the top of what I had already paid and there is no sign of the 200 dollar refund if we handed the car back in pristine condition with a full tank of petrol. " I had a nice girl at the counter when I collected the car ,after me 11 hour flight from London ,who went through everything. She told me I didn't need to check the car over as I had comprehensive cover. I did notice the extensive list of damage but thought nothing if it. When I brought back the car I had another nice girl but she pointed out a chip In the drivers side front hub cap. I said it must have been there when I collected it. She said it wasn't. I never hit anything while using the car. I got on my credit card account and I have a pending charge from sixt for £146.01. I have written to my bank, siwt and now you. I'm waiting for a result. I get full coverage so that I don't have to worry about making a note of every scratch . I hope you can resolve this "

" On arrival at SIXT office staff were sullen and unco-operative and unwelcoming. The staff member that took our details was more engaging and helpful. However our rental was for 41(?) days and the signout receipt he gave was for only 28 days. An email would be sent to me at the start of the remainder of the rental. It was not. I did not know if the car I was driving after 28 days would have been reported as stolen or not insured. On returning the car I accidentally left a bag with my passport, covid passes, credit cards, driving license and cash on the driver seat, and left the SIXT depot. I returned within an hour desperate to find my belongings. The same sullen response from the staff. My property HAD NOT been handed to management, HAD NOT BEEN put in the safe, and I was not notified of its status. Staff begrudgingly said that a wallet had been found, but they did not know who found it or where it was. After a delay we witnessed it being brought from what we believe to be a non-fleet vehicle. Passport was there, covid passes, credit cards, driving license but not cash. Raised issue with manager; obviously the cash had been stolen and if I was not quicker I believe the passport and contactless credit cards would have been sold or used. The manager accepted that protocol for lost property had not been met and refunded the $75 dollars stolen to the Auto Europe Account. Can I have it please? I am also addressing this complaint to SIXT themselves. "

When I finally managed to pull in, the associate asked if I was returning, asked for the keys and told me that he would check the car in and a receipt would be emailed, he then got in the car and drove it up the ramp. I did not receive my final invoice till 4 days later and I had been charged for an extra four days!!!
