You may have heard that a shortage of hire cars is predicted this summer. We've certainly mentioned it before here on the blog
, in our newsletter and in press releases too. We've also seen it written about in national newspapers such as the Telegraph
and if you type 'car hire shortage' into Google you'll see that we are not the only voice bearing the message. However, the good news is that not all holiday destinations are affected. This is why we thought a regular update on where hire cars are actually in short supply would be a useful service to our customers. So here it is:JULY FLEET UPDATEShortages
• Spain is currently challenging with shortages of vehicles predicted in: Malaga, Alicante, Mallorca, Gerona and Barcelona. In fact many suppliers are already fully booked for July and August in these destinations.• We currently have availability in France and Portugal, although supply is rapidly running outReasonable supply at present
• Greece• Ireland• Italy (mainland)• USA• Cyprus• BulgariaWe are obviously working as hard as possible to secure plenty of hire car choice and availability for our customers wherever possible but will continue to publish these updates to keep you well informed during these unprecedented conditions. We have been advising all year to book early whatever your destination may be, this remains our strong recommendation. Just please remember to check the cancellation and amendment policy of your chosen supplier. If you book with Auto Europe then there is no admin charge, cancellation or amendment fee as long as a minimum of 48 hours notice is provided. One last thought, even where there is supply, it's always worth bearing in mind that car hire rates are generally much more attractive for early bookers than last minute reservations anyway.
