    City Break in Amsterdam

AmsterdamAmsterdam is a great place to go for the weekend, there are so many things to see and do. Probably one of the most famous sights is the House of Anne Frank. It is an amazing place and it is quite moving to see how the family had to live for over two years. The Van Gogh Museum is also worth a visit. It has the largest collection of his works in the world and you can see how his art developed over the years.

Dam Square is one of the oldest areas in Amsterdam. There is always something going on there, be it street entertainers or a fun fair. There are plenty of cafes in which to sit and people-watch, plus some lovely buildings to admire - one such place being the Royal Palace which, in the 17th century, was the largest non-religious building in Europe.

Take a cruise along one of the 160 canals through the centre of the city and see things you might otherwise miss. Another way of seeing the city is by bike, something else Amsterdam is famous for. If you want to see all the things Amsterdam is famous for then you have to walk through the red-light district. It isn't as bad as it sounds and it is quite strange how matter-of-fact everyone in the area is. If you are thinking of going soon there is a Discovery Festival happening on Friday the 24th of September which features scientific experiments, live music, art and DJs..... look's interesting! http://www.discoveryfestival.nl/

Which are your favourite places in Amsterdam?
