Discover Australia - Explore Northern Territory

The Northern Territory is perhaps the most mysterious and magical state in Australia. First occupied over 40,000 years ago by the indigenous, here you will enjoy wonderful sights from the ocean waters to the rocks of the outback. The Northern Territory is a tourist heaven, with so many great sights to see. Here are our recommendations:

Ayers Rock - Also named Uluru this huge sandstone rock is sacred to the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara, the Aboriginal people of the area. Inside the rock are springs, eaterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. However be careful with your camera as certain sections of Ayers Rock are forbidden to be photographed.

Alice Springs - If there was one word I could use to describe this place it would be 'hot'. Located in the very heart of central Australia in a desert landscape you can explore caves and gorges. Enjoy breathtaking scenery and learn all about Australia's past. Alice Springs is Australia's most famous outback town!

Darwin - The states capital city, here you can enjoy the laid back atmosphere whilst soaking up the tropical climate. It has fantastic beaches and great fishing. One thing to watch out for in Darwin's waterways, the Saltwater Croc, they have even been spotted in the harbour! It's s a great base for a trip to Kakadu National Park and the Tiwi Islands too!

Kakadu National Park - No trip is complete without visiting this outstanding beautiful park. Explore Kakadu's caves, decorated with Aboriginal rock art. Enjoy the white sandy beaches at Arnhem Land and swim in the magnificent waterfalls.

We definitely saved the best till last with our Discover Australia articles. The beauty of the Northern Territory is almost unexplainable. If you haven't already been and are thinking of taking the trip then do, the long flight from the UK is well worth it! Have you travelled through the Northern Territory? Would you like to?
