    F1 - Race 10 - Silverstone UK

F1 flagThis weeks race at Silverstone was the mid point of the Grand Prix season. Once again Red Bull managed to get pole and second on the grid with Fernando Alonso third and Lewis Hamilton fourth. The tensions started in the qualifying days, with Red Bull opting to give the new front wing to Sebastian Vettel rather than Mark Webber. Webber also had to drive the chassis Vettel rejected after being beaten by his team mate in the Spanish and Monaco races.

The drama started in the first lap when Webber forced Vettel wide. Vettel went off the track and sustained a puncture. Felipe Massa also had to go into the pits in lap1 with a puncture caused by an altercation with team mate Fernando Alonso. After pitting to change his tyre Vettel is last.

Jenson Button started in a disappointing fourteenth but, with some great driving, managed to get up into fourth by lap 14. Alonso claimed to have been pushed off the track in lap 17 by Robert Kubica but Kubica wanted his seventh place back. Alonso then cut a corner to get ahead of Kubica but got a drive through penalty for doing so. Kubica retired in lap 20. Alonso's race didn't get any better to the point that by lap 35 he refused to have any further radio contact with his team in the pits and then, in lap 49, he got a puncture after a knock with Vitantonio Liuzzi.

Mark Webber managed to hang onto first place and win his third grand prix of the season, not bad, in Webbers own words, for a number two driver! The discord in the Red Bull camp is likely to continue but it could be a good thing if Webber has a few more races like this one!

Next stop the Hockenheimring circuit in Germany, which was Webber's first win of last season. Can he win there again this year and close the gap on Hamilton?
