Montenegro - Escape to the Mediterranean

ith the spring around the corner, why not enjoy it to the fullest in a holiday mood while visiting a Mediterranean gem? It is enough to fly for a weekend break to one of these heaven-like places to unwind and reload your batteries. This spring we would like to invite you to Montenegro.

Montenegro, meaning the black mountain, is a tiny country resting on the Adriatic coast next to neighbouring Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, and Albania. This is where the Balkan and Mediterranean influences meet creating an interesting cultural mix. Montenegro is known for its dramatic coastal line with mountainous terrain as a backdrop. The country is now being re-discovered and many tourists flock to Montenegro during the summer months. Spring time, however, presents you with the privilege of experiencing nature coming back to life with blossoming trees, flowers, Mediterranean scents and singing birds.

Perast, a small medieval town located in the Bay of Kotor at the foot of St Ilija hill, is a convenient setting for a quiet relaxing holiday. It is a perfect place for a leisure stroll; Perast has been listed as a UNESCO World Natural and Historical Site. You can make Perast your holiday base and drive from here to the neighbouring cities and discover the countryside. Some eight miles south-east from Perast lies the ancient picturesque town of Kotor, home to the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with many historic monuments and tiny cobbled streets.

Besides the seasonal flights to Tivat, there are regular services from London to Podgorica, Montenegro's capital city. With a car hire from Podgorica you will be able to visit most of this spectacular country and drive to the 'hidden gems' - Perast and Kotor. Depending on the length of your stay, you can pay a visit to Skadar Lake or Lovcen National Parks, located in central Montenegro. Or, if you are up for more entertainment, Budva is the place to go for vibrant night life. Montenegro has it all, for all tastes and ages.
