" I booked with Auto Europe for an car hire located at Zadar airport. When I arrived I was told we had to phone and wait for someone to pick us up and take us off site. Once there, we were told we had to pay extra for a car wash and extra £60 for a late pick up fee. All of these were small print hidden extras. I had to pay nearly as much again on extras as what I had already paid to hire the car. I won't be using ABC or Auto Europe again for car hire "

Our flight was late and we got out of the terminal at 01:00 and couldnt find the booth. After asking people and wandering around my wife found the paperwork and switched off flight mode to make a call. They arrived very quickly and took us to their site which was only 5 mins away by car but we would not have found in the dark. WE just wish we had been aware of this in advance. " We had an awful experience and all you cared about was making sure you had your slice of the money, there is nothing else other than middle man greed with you. We hired a car through you which stated in the contract that out of hours fees were included. Upon arrival, the provider said it was a mistake and we needed to pay an additional €120 for the out of hours service, but admitted that the contract stated otherwise. They said we could leave and lose our money, or pay the additional. We expected that AutoEurope would recognise this as illegitimate instantly, but instead you said we should have paid the fee and "tried" to reclaim it through them. Now you have said a bunch of lies that we were late, when we weren't, and you are not going to provide a refund. You are a terrible company that provides no means for review. You publish your own review which isn't gauged and all others on independent sites highlight massively lower ratings. "

We explained that it was clearly written in the contract that this fee was included in our rental price, which they acknowledged, but said it is a mistake. " Auto Europe could not help us satisfactorily with our problem. We paid money up front for a rental which did not materialise, then Auto Europe would not arrange a replacement car for us. We were told we would have to make a new booking for a car, paying out AGAIN, and then claim back the money for the original rental when we returned home. It is difficult to contact Auto Europe by telephone, and I cannot fill in the claims form online because the options given for a customer complaint do not match our issue. I've emailed and sent details of our booking and our problem, but am still awaiting a satisfactory response and a refund. I am disgusted with this service and would never use Auto Europe again, nor would I recommend friends and family to do so. We ended up paying a higher rate for a smaller car for less time on holiday, when we had already paid money in good faith to yourselves for car hire for our entire stay. In twenty years of hiring cars we have never encountered such appalling service, and are now considering legal advice if we don't get a swift refund, some kind of compensation and an apology. "

" Those who never rented from them: there is no office at the Split airport, you need to look out for a person carrying your name - you are taken to a place a few 100 m down the road where a small office is located and where you will be given the actual detail of the deal - I am sure these are in the general conditions but who reads them in detail to be fully aware of what is coming? The insurance policy of the company is such that they block a large amount to cover damages to the car or you pay 600 EURO (ending up at 500 EURO after negotiations) to waive your responsibility in case of damages. Sure the rent is low but the insurance obliterates any apparent price advantage. I made the mistake of not comparing the terms and conditions in detail between the different companies. On the up side the company opened earlier as our flight was changed to an earlier hour (!) and we were dropped at the airport move. The staff is very friendly and communicates well. "

ABC Rent then proceeded to charge us (we had 2 cars with them) a 70 euro per car NO SHOW FEE as our flight had been delayed and we weren't there on time. The NO SHOW FEE per car cost more than each car did for the week. I ohoned Auto-Europe immediately who said that they could not help us other than arrange two different cars at a much higher cost to what we had paid originally. I obviously declined, and paid each NO SHOW FEE on my card. I have contacted auto-Europe upon my return, and am awaiting to hear from them concerning this unacceptable episode. "

" The voucher stated that they were in the terminal. They do not have a presence in the terminal. They are base in Split and they send the car to the airport. It arrive 1/2 hour late. The car was old and had many scratches on it. It had 80,000 kilometres on the clock and had had not be valet very well. The brakes squeaked. The oil indicator, stated that oil needed at the next service. The rep told me that the battery had run down in the key ring and I would have to open it with the key then press the all doors open button inside the car. I would not use this company again. "
