" Price was great at £108 until I got charged €50 because the plane was delayed. I appreciate that after 23:20 is outside your hours but it then made the holiday a bit more expensive and in future I will compare with companies who have 24hr service. Ryanair have refused to pay as we weren't 3 hrs late! ( we were due in at 21:40) "

Our flight was delayed by 2 and a half hours so we arrived at the car hire office more than an hour after thru should have closed for the day. We want to state how much appreciated them waiting for us to arrive even though it was well after midnight. The member of staff was sorted out from off at split was as very helpful and pleasant. I would definitely recommend Alamo to anyone requiring car hire in Croatia. "

" The first vehicle (Kia Stonic, Red) that we were given was in a terrible condition. Had a smashed tail light, big dents, huge scratches and in a very shabby and misused condition. We were eventually able to change the vehicle after being told we had no further options but we refused to accept the first vehicle due to safety concerns. It took a lot of persuading and this was time consuming and very stressful. The second vehicle (VW Taigo, Blue) was still a bit beaten up but all the lights were fine and having stood in the cold and dark for almost an hour, we accepted this one. We previously rented a car via Auto Europe from Oryx Croatia which was in fabulous condition and the service was second to none.. We would not use Alamo again. "

" The car we picked up, despite being quite new, was badly damaged inside and out. It also had a number of error messages flash up several times in the short period we had the car. When we dropped it off, we were asked to prove that we had not caused the damage. We took a number of photos when we picked the car up but this was after 10pm so in the dark. Luckily these still showed the damage but without this and a good camera at night, I think we would have been charged a significant amount for causing damage which was already present on the car. "

" Car was very battered, numerous big dents and scraps all over the bodywork very unsatisfactory, and not what you expect to get. On return of vehicle the staff member told us that we had caused a large dent on the side of the vehicle despite the damage being on their paperwork. We had to show him a photo of the damage we took at the time of collection for him to believe us. Yet again a car hire company tries it on and tries to extract money from clients for damage they know already exists. This experience left a very bad taste in the mouth and made us feel very uncomfortable. Similar experience to Bari car rental return in May. List of rental companies I will no longer hire from is growing as Alamo has now joined Thrifty on the list of dishonest companies with sharp practices to try to extract client money. "

We were at the airport until 6pm and didn't find out until then. We had a lot to sort out (new flights, two hotels in Dubrovnik). The airport had poor wifi. We didn't get to call to change our car hire until the following morning. After about 2 hours on the phone we were told you wouldn't help, because we should have contacted you the day before. We ended up having to rent a new car and pay twice. It's been the worse customers 'service' we have ever experienced. "

" I booked via Auto Europe and clearly showed age 70 ( DOB 18.02.1953). When i picked up car i had to pay an extra charge of 40 euro as they said i was over the age limit. Small print shows maximum age 70 - which is what i am! If correct then it should have been shown on original booking and i would have booked elsewhere which would have been cheaper "

It was an extra £250 this was not the £200 we knew we had to pay for returning to a different location - Also we paid for a VW Golf with sat navigation and ended up with a really battered and dirty Opal and they had run out of sat navs. Clearly they didn't car about covid as the inside was filthy and had old baby food and used tissues and food all over the place! The actual car was very dirty and full of scratches and dints! "

" I was a little disappointed by the condition of the vehicle.. pretty much every panel was either scratched or dented. The rear seats were heavily stained. I had to take my own photographs just in case the assistant with his camera missed any. The staff were very nice and there wasn't any problems handing the car back. I just had to ensure all damage had been recorded in case of any repercussions later. Deposit was returned very quickly so I have no complaint. "

" Oh wow - they were fab. The people carrier had been upgraded to a small minibus which gave our 4 adult children plenty of room. We were unfortunate enough to have an accident with some local wildlife and Alamo were amazing - they replaced the vehicle and provided great support on the phone and via What's App. All staff spoke English really well. " Used them for years. Usually competitive and trouble free. Only slight irritation is with their service suppliers, who always need to enter all your details etc. on pick up which can take ages. Surely as a returning customer the IT should be more sophisticated and linked to AutoEurope's database? "
" It was a latish pick up at the airport and they only had the one car waiting for me. In the event it was a 2 thier upgrade albeit automatic. And it was pretty new. So I was pleasantly surprised, but unfortunately the oil warning light came on when i drove off, so during the rental, to be safe, I had to buy a litre of rather expensive engine oil (It was an Audi). Othewrwise an overall good experience. "

" After Thomas Cook collapsed I called AutoEurope to explain how I had arranged new flights and would arrive at 10pm the same evening instead of in the afternoon.. Your Customer service rep was unsympathetic and abrasive on the phone. He told me I would have to cancel my booking, rebook and pay again then make a claim on my travel insurance. This was totally wrong and just a profiteering lie. I called Alamo directly after finishing my call with your company and they changed the booking immediately without any penalty. "
" Office is in the airport but the drop off point is not. This was not clear from adverts and exactly the opposite of why I picked Alamo. It's also difficult to find as Alamo seems to be taken over by Enterprise and this is not clear anywhere. Although staff in Split were friendly and available on the phone I had cause to deal with Zadar and they hardly ever answered the phone. My car was badly scratched in most places and the front lights were out of alignment but it was the "only one available" when I picked up so I had no choice... it had not been cleaned either. I also was forced to pay €80 extra to return it to Split after picking up in Zadar this was the fault of the Split Office because they closed and left us without a car at 1:15 am in the morning after our flight was diverted to Zadar for refuelling after bad weather. Split office later claimed they waited until 1 am but as my wife required special assistance to leave the aircraft we were the last off and they went home and left us without a car. This cost me an extra £150 in taxi fare to get us to our villa. We were badly let down by Alamo on all counts. "

" Whilst we were given a free upgrade and the car was in very good condition and overall good value for money, we were concened about a) How little info was given re car and documents at pick-up ( eg we needed a green card to cross the border but the documents were hidden behind the sun visor and not in the glove compartment where we would have expected them) and b) how difficult it was to reach the rental agency by phone ( recorded message no option for leaving a voicemail ). Fortunately, we did not require them for anything urgent but I wonder how reliable this company would have been in the event of a breakdown or accident. For this reason, we are reluctant to recommend to others "

When I said we did not need it we were given the distinct impression that we were not welcome. We were then transited to put up a car in very poor condition. After taking a lot of photos to prove the damage was all ready there we departed only to return 10 minutes later with a tyre pressure indication problem. We were then given another car which had not been cleaned..... You can imagine we were not at all impressed with the service. I did email you the same day at my dismay. Your reply did nothing to install my faith in your company. However on our return we were met by a team that were so different to that of the team we departed with. They were a pleasure to meet. The guy at reception in the airport is not doing you any favours.....He is setting a very poor president "

" We had to wait 1.5hrs to pickup the car as the rental office was so busy. The car was much bigger than I had booked so not ideal for the tiny Croatian roads. The car had not been cleaned inside or out and did not have a full tank of fuel. We were told that we would have to wait another 1hr if we would like it to be cleaned. The people in the office were very nice and helpful but clearly massively overstretched. Car hire process is in the dark ages with all the form filling on the day despite having put all the details in and paid in advance - it is ridiculous in this day and age. I'm hoping someone will streamline this process soon! "

" Alamo/Enterprise in Munich is excellent but in Dubrovnik, you need to beware and watch what's going on. "
" Paperwork: They give you a copy of the original document but cover that with a new sheet so when you return the vehicle they only check the front cover, which shows the vehicle as perfect. You have to show them the copy of the original showing the dents, scratches etc. otherwise they will tell you they are new and charge you accordingly. I also take a video/pictures on collection of the vehicle and on the return. "

" Felt cheated by staff as I asked if a Sat Nav was in car and he advised external sat nav. I later found Sat nav was working in car so wasted this money. Return was not great and car had numerous dents. "

" We had to pay a drop off fee and it was very confusing - the email voucher said 400 euros plus VAT while the online voucher said 500 euros. We ended up paying 500 euros because the VAT was 100 euros extra, but I don't see why you couldn't just show price including local VAT so I know exactly what I need to pay on the day. Other than that it was pretty good. "
" I picked up the car in Dubrovnik, the guy there spoke very good english and was fine except he said he was going to pick up the car and be back in 5 mins and instead he was gone 30 mins! When he did finally arrive he didn't offer any explanation or apology for why he had disappeared and left us waiting in the hot sun. Was a bit annoying. Returning the car in Malpensa was fine. "

" After completing paperwork on arrival, we went to the pick up and had to wait 20 minutes for the car to be delivered. The man in front of us had to wait 45 minutes. The car then had not been refuelled. On drop off, there was no signage and no staff to ask where to drop the car. Had to ask another company. Left the car some distance away in a field. Went to the counter. Had to walk back out to the field to check the car. And was then told that it would take 2 weeks to 'unlock' the deposit left on my credit card as it was a different office. "

There is not enough space in the car park to return the vehicle so I had to do three laps of the airport before there was a space available. "

" Excellent service - given my flight (Jet2) was delayed and the staff came back into the office to process my rental after 9pm. I was travelling alone and had just arrived in Dubrovnik - it's uncomfortable feeling 'stuck'. There was a small charge for after office hours but it was reasonable given the brilliant rental rate I managed to book. The staff were very helpful and I would definitely recommend them and use them again myself in furture. (I'll try to get an earlier flight next time!) Thank you! "
