" Auckland airport car rental still suffering after floods but flight delay and lost bags caused us to be late for pickup. Some people turned away due to offices closing (not just keddy). Car return signs not all there so we ended driving an extra loop in heavy traffic to find drop off. "

" Auto Europe are great, but they can't be expected to know about every hire company's mal-practices. Definitely don't hire from Alamo-Enterprise in New Zealand. We made a subsequent NZ hire with Thrifty (again through Auto Europe) and they were good. "

Their back-office processes for dealing with any car damage are broken - after a month, I still have no reply and I am awaiting a refund, and the 'problem' was a puncture, nothing more. The puncture occurred because the tyre provided on the car was well worn. Also customer service assistant lied to me (or was ignorant) about how the process would proceed. "

" I don't think Alamo deals with problems/damage in a satisfactory way, so I would advise users to avoid using them. In our case, we returned the car using the spare wheel with a punctured tyre in the boot - cause unknown, we found the tyre flat as we were about to drive off on the last day of hire. We were required to pay NZ400 (ie considerably more than the cost of a new tyre let alone a puncture repair) and the company gave no acknowledgement that the tyre was a well-worn one close to its legal limit, and that this might have been a factor. We were told we would get a credit when the true cost was known within a day, but a week later the matter has still not been resolved. I don't like the Alamo attitude that the customer is guilty until proved innocent, and I resent being out of pocket. It's shame, because their staff were polite and efficient; but they have bad company policy procedures that they have to enforce. "

" The process was quick and easy. The car was smooth to drive and filling up with petrol was not a problem, plenty of petrol stations around. We had also hired GPS which was very useful on unfamiliar roads. However we felt it needed updating as it sometimes struggled to know where we were and did like to suggest a route off of the highway when it wasn't necessary. "

There was plenty of space for passengers and luggage. We did have problems regarding the car. Part of perished the plastic trim broke off as we were travelling along the road and the rubber sealing strip for the windscrean was loose and partly flapped in the wind at regular intervals. This was fixed, free of charge at a windscreen repair shop when we had a stone chip fixed. Towards the end of the trip there was a whining soud coming from the front drive mechanism and we did wonder whether we would make it to the airport. It was in need of a service.
