As I didn't have another credit card it was suggested by the woman at check in that I could take out their insurance and would leave a 300 euro deposit. Whilst I was on the phone to my credit card company, I asked the agent to try again, this also failed but my credit card company told me no request had gone through. I then asked the agent to try a different card machine and this worked straight away. I wasn't sure whether this was a scam or just a faulty machine. Genova failed to answer the phone, ignored my web form request for assistance. Autovia complaints department eventually sent me the contract which revealed the above errors. The car pre-existing damage was also incorrect. The drop off agent in Pescara was superb, on the other hand. She was polite, listened and the car was sign off with no new damage. "

" Virtually a brand new car and very good value for money but whole experience was spoiled by the lady on the counter who tried to bully us into buying their excess waiver product, despite me informing her that we already had an annual policy. She even insisted on me calling my insurance company to check coverage because she claimed Sicily was high risk and not usually covered in normal policies because it was southern Italy!! Suffice to say, we were covered and when that failed she tried to flog us an upgrade to a larger vehicle. One minute she was stating how bad the driving standards were there and how common accidents were to scare us into buying their product and the next she was trying to get us to upgrade from a small car to something bigger - ridiculous!! Luckily, the guy who we returned the car to at the end of our trip was really friendly and helpful. "

" Although I have rated the counter staff a 7 for efficiency, there were other aspects at the counter which mean that I will never rent from them again. Firstly, they demanded two credit cards to hold the deposit. when I queried this, they said that it was because I was renting a luxury car. Nowhere in the pre-arrival literature does it say that I had to have two valid credit cards with me. The main reason however why I will not use Autovia in the future was the attitude of the person at the counter. Although I had taken out the additional insurance policy with Auto Europe to cover all excess costs etc. he insisted that I had to take out cover with him or else I would be "driving around Italy without insurance". I showed him the Auto Europe documents which clearly detailed the level of cover, but he insisted that he knew that agent and that they never pay. He showed me a hand-written calculation/note which required me to pay an amount which I think was in excess of 200 euros. I naturally refused, but he continued to press me and continued to demand that I pay him for excess cover, saying that "It is my vehicle and know what I am saying is correct". It was a very unsavoury start to what should have been a pleasant occasion. Finally, the actual vehicle itself. I ordered a Range Rover Evoque 'or equivalent'. The vehicle was actually a BYD Seal. Whilst it was a good car with very low mileage, it's not a Range Rover. I accept the 'or similar' get out clause, but they really should advertise this class as a BYD Seal or similar. "

When I rang you to say I was stranded for the ridiculous reason that they would not accept a credit card with initials your operative said 'Oh yes, that's right'. There is nothing he could do. The best offer he made was to cancel the reservation. Quite atrocious service. He left me stranded and forced to accept Autovia's only offer of paying and additional 216 euros. If you knew that this was what Autovia and other Italian rentals do then you should warn your customers so this does not happen to them. You did not and for that you are culpable. I shall be making a formal complaint and if you do not refund the additional payment I shall take the matter further to the BVRLA. "

" Awful customer service with a lack of any agent I spoke to showing any modicum of ownership for what should have been a simple query. Mixed messaging and received a different answer with every contact made with your company. The last agent I spoke to over the phone was incredibly rude, I called at 17:30 for a confirmation of my booking which was still up in the air at the time, the agent placed me on hold for around 20 minutes, without telling me that is what she would do first, when she got back to the phone she advised me that as it is 6pm she is due to finish her shift and hung up on me, without giving me any kind of answer or resolution, I never actually received an answer from your company and had to ring the car hire provider directly to confirm that they would be available at the time my flight arrived, defeating the point of booking through an agent entirely. The level of unprofessionalism and complete lack of customer service that your agents have shown that for future booking I should just book directly with the rental provider. "

" Pathetic experience ..had booked a 6-8 seater SUV so that all my family could travel together and we wouldn't have to separate ..when we reached Bari car rental agency Autovia they informed the car booked by us was broken down and not available and we would need to take 2 cars instead ..first why were we not informed before if the vehicle was not available , second we were worried about the second vehicle since the driver was not very comfortable with right hand drive so we took a big risk , third we paid much more for both the cars since a single SUV would have been much more expensive than 2 normal cars and the parking and fuel and everything costed us more and lastly when we contacted Auto Europe and informed them about our problem they didn't even provide us any solution or checked with other agencies if a similar vehicle is available and left us completely stranded ..infact AUTOVIA still helped us more ..so I don't think I would be ever booking through AutoEurooe again ..and I'm a very frequent traveler and a Hertz and SixT user and thought of using Auto Europe for the first time and if service was good woukd shift to them ..but totally unsatisfied "

" Flight became delayed meaning couldn't collect car on chosen day. Called up company who said car would be kept for us to pick up as soon as flight landed next day. When we got to counter we were told we couldn't hire car and had to pay over twice the amount at another car rental company. "

" The car was less powerful than we'd expected, it had 69k on the clock and it had a lot of scratches and was quite dirty. That said, the price was good! There was initially no one at the drop off kiosk and we had to wait for about 10mins for someone to show. The kiosk was open but there was no note on the door and no one answered when I called the contact number. "
