" The Auto Europe booking system worked well and the price reasonable. Your website said that the Avis location is on airport and that was one reason for choosing Avis. It is actually a few miles away and we needed to go by bus. The bus stop was also a very long walk away from the terminal and hard to find. The bus was pretty much full by the time we got there so those that got off the bus last had a very long wait to get their car. Luckily we were able to get out of the bus quickly otherwise there would have been a 40-60 minute or so wait. I really think that details such as this are very important so PLEASE get it right on your website. "

" Terrible. Avis, along with TurisPrime, OK mobility and Budget all operate out of the same off airport location. A coach runs every 20 mins. So a coach load arrive at once, one Avis priority desk and one other desk. Took an hour to get served! Then they didn't have a car of the size I had ordered i.e VW T-Cross for 4 adults with luggage. Ended up with 2 adults in back with suitcases on knees. If I had wanted a smaller car, I could have ordered one for less money. Also, they email a contract to you at the desk, to show any damage that they are aware of on the car. If you can't access email at the time you don't know what damage they have on their system when you check over the car and no staff available to ask. "

The car was dirty, badly scratches and scuffed and, 10km out from pickup, the tyre pressure warning light came on. All in all, the opposite of best practice and good customer service. "

" Good afternoon, We have recently returned from our holiday where we had Car Rental through Avis from Seville Train Station. The voucher number was UK5539659 and was with Avis from Seville. We are 3 families meeting from across the world (2 x adults and 2 x children from New Zealand, 2 x Adults from Scotland, 2 x Adults from UK and 1 x Baby). We were all meeting in Seville for a reunion and had booked a Mercedes Vito or similar 9 seater for the rental. When we arrived at Avis on the day to collect the car we waited 45 minutes before we were seen. When we were seen by the reception desk it took them at least 30 minutes before they admitted that they did not have the vehicle for us. They spent a long time coming up with a solution before they offered to give us a 7 seater van and a car instead. We asked how long it would be before they could get a 9 seater van to us but they could not give us an answer. We ended up taking the van and the car because we had no other option. We had been with Avis for 2 hours by this point of the process and we wanted to get on the road. This was such a disappointing experience and left us really frustrated that we could not all travel together. I had the option to book through Enterprise but booked with Avis and was let down by them. The staff on the service desk did not seem bothered by the situation and did not show any empathy for the situation we encountered. I would ask that you please investigate this service and let me know if there is anything you can offer as an apology for the way we were treated by Avis? They tried a real hard sell to take out extra insurance and to pre-pay for a full tank fuel which we declined. Th hire paperwork stated 'no damage' but the car was covered in scratches & dents. When I challenged their staff they told me to take photos of the damage. ON returning the car I was told their was lots of damage to it!!! I showed them a video I had taken of the car but, lots of unsuspecting customers wouldn't have done and would have been charged for prior damage. I will be reverting to Autoreisen Hire who are brilliant and fair to deal with. "

" Vehicle was supplied with undisclosed accident damage to front. This was pointed out and photographed but not confirmed by email. Vehicle was supplied with no pressure valve caps on the tyres. During the hire a loss of tyre pressure warning light came on; tyres were topped up with air but warning light stayed lit. Attempting to report this vehicle fault to Avis (as per contract) was a nightmare with long delays in answering, repeated transfers of call and no English speaking operatives . If there had been a real vehicle emergency it would have been just as bad. I will never hire an Avis vehicle in Spain again. "

" upon arrival at terminal 2 barcelona at 21.15 we learned car hire office closed with a note saying go to terminal 1 at terminal 1 we were told that the car being booked was electric with a total range of 110km between charges. we were planning to go to grand prix with field parking no charging points this then made this car unacceptable upgrade then cost 140euros we would have chosen another supplier if we had know this then when returning we were delayed and upon several attempts online and telephone told we had to rehire for another day at a cost of 350euros "

Although the counter staff told me I would be covered if I took a picture of any damage, I decided to query it immediately as it seemed too big an issue to be dealt with later. I'm glad I did because the damage had not previously been recorded in their system meaning I would be blamed for it later. AVIS had to take new pictures and record the damage before we could leave. This took a lot of time when my family (including three small children) was tired and just wanted to get to our hotel. "

Unfortunatelly, I regreted my decision: the girl at a counter was very slow and seemingly unwilling to speed up the process until I bought extra insurance. This was completely unnecessary as I have a UK year-round insurance. However, I reluctantly agree to a €42 (€6 p/d) supplement to bring down the excess to €100. When returning the car and settling the bill, this has become €58 - the drop off girls stated it was the airport tax and nothing to do with Avis - I felt conned and cheated!! I asked the counter girl for a small size car ( booked Ibiza size cat) due to parking restrictions but she stated the only car available was Citroen Ellysse. I accepted this not knowing what size this car was. When in the parking garage, I realised that this car was too big and the staff there changed this to Opel Corsa. Although this was upon my request. I felt that I received the smallest category of car and paid the excess of €58, which should have been €42. Will NOT be booking Avis in Malaga again. Please forward my feedback to the team in Malaga. When they changed the damahed car with a new one they downgraded me again, as nothing was coming up about an upgrade on my reservation. The upgrade was given to me qhen collecting the car at the airport. Well, i lost a very important meeting, i lost the upgrade i had as per.British airways Amex customer, and i lost the will of doing another booking with this company. "

It is slow and does not allow the customer immediate access to info eg image of car and any existing damage. 2. The rear view mirror fell off the window about 3 kilometres from the airport. We had to return to the airport. There was no apology and it was inferred that we were lucky to get another car! 3. The staff were diffident, slow and uninterested in me, the customer. When we returned the first car the agent's first action was to check how many kilometres I had travelled. The inconvenience that my passenger and I suffered was ignored. 4. When we returned, the agent took the keys, checked the fuel and the condition of the car. Again there was no apology, no indication of customer care and this not an inspiring experience which Avis promote on their UK website. " Unfortunately, we did not receive the type of car we booked. We were told that the Hyundai Tucson we had ordered was not available because it had been involved in an incident. Instead we were offered a C3 Crossover Citroen. This car was brand new and very nice but it was not big enough to hold all the luggage we brought (3 cases, hand luggage and baby equipment) without having to squeeze it onto our laps and leave the parcel shelf with the Avis representative. That is the reason we hired a big car. The car was also a little underpowered with a full load. The journey to and from our apartment was therefore very uncomfortable. I feel we should be compensated for this and would be grateful if you would look into this please. Finally, I should point out that the pick up is a long walk from the arrivals area. "

There were two reasons for this. it appears from my final invoice that Avis charged VAT on their fees whereas I understood from the original quote that all local sales taxes would be included. Eventually the general information desk advised that it was a 400 metre walk to the Avis car compound. Upon arrival there was one staff member dealing with car pick-ups. The vehicle smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke, which was acknowledged a full week later at the vehicle drop-off. "

" Confusion on pick up as a debit was made to my credit card for a full tank of fuel and a receipt issued. Having dealt with Avis and other operators in other European countries & Spain this is the first time this has occurred, the norm being to see that the car has been dropped off with a full tank before any issue about fuel. When queried the Avis staff insisted on a fuel up front Option on the agreement which I did not asked for or want but language barriers meant I did not pursue. Believing I had already been charged I did not return the car with a full tank but this Avis staff member confirmed I should have. Not having encountered this practice before other than blocking the card for the excess I'll be forewarned next time. "
