" I was told the car was new, no damage. It had a lot of scratches, and the service light came on every time it was started saying it needed a service. I reported the damage and told the staff about the service warning before I left but they said it was ok. During the hire, I found the start/stop on the car to be erratic and the brakes very jerky. " I am still cautiously optimistic here for Autoeurope, although the other car rental trawler site claimed that they could reach a refund of the previous unjustified refuelling claim from Enterprise, France, MLH, they never responded, apologized or refunded the charge. "
" Although I pointed out to Enterprise/Alamo, CH upon return of the car that this has been (over)filled with petrol in the vicinity of the airport and offered evidence of the fueling and took a picture of the fuel tank, I was confronted with a re-fill bill afterwards. The man on the counter then suggested I consider taking out emergency breakdown cover, which he said was not free on rentals in Switzerland. I declined, but I think that it is either inappropriate that breakdown cover is not included in an expensive hire car which should be new and reliable (mine had significant damage at the rear); or the man on the counter was offering misguiding information to push customers into unnecessary spend which would also be highly inappropriate. On top of the usually much higher cost of car hire in Switzerland, this has put me off hiring there rather than in France in future - I am a regular customer of AutoEurope. "

" As Usual, Auto Europe site was easy to use and the results quick to obtain. The voucher came through very quickly once the use of taking the car to France was approved - all within 10 minutes. "
" My business meeting finished early and I had caught an earlier flight to Basel to make sure that I could get to my hotel 2 hours drive away before it was shutting for the evening. On arrival at the Thrifty/Hertz desk, I was told that I couldn't under any circumstances take the car until the time it was booked for; even tough they had cars available and the car would still have been returned within the one day rental that I had booked. They wouldn't even let me upgrade and take a more expensive car straight away. The best they could do was let me have the car half an hour before the time it was booked for. They made me go away and wait for 2 and a half hours til I could return half an hour before the booked time. This was despite me telling them that the hotel that I was trying to get to 90 minutes drive away would now be shut. The clerk had to talk to the hotel and arrange for them to hide a key in a mailbox in order for me to get into my room. NOWHERE IN THE T&C'S DOES IT SAY YOU CAN'T TAKE THE CAR EARLIER THAN BOOKED. I understand if there were no cars available because I was early, but this wasn't the case. The clerk insisted this was company policy and refused to help me out in anyway - until 30 minutes before the booked time. I have use Auto Europe many times for booking car hire an both business and personal and have never had this as an issue - ever before. "

I explained to Hertz when I got there and immediately phoned auto Europe's customer service only to be told I couldn't get a full refund and only a partial refund of £90. My booking cost me £250. Under the circumstances I would expect a reputable business to issue full refund. "

We were then informed at drop off that to avoid additional charges we should have called but the single person on the desk was too busy to answer? Also we are a bit confused about your late return charges policy. WE have been charged 50 Swiss Francs plus tax but non of your staff could inform us of where this figure comes from. The small print in the agreement appears to tend towards 15 Euros per hour. As previously mentioned I am disappointed that Budget took this stance and refused to take our comments into account as past experience with the company have generally been satisfactory. This will be considered the next time we look to hire a vehicle. "
