" There was nobody at the reception desk in the airport when we arrived and when we rang the phone number provided on the desk we heard only a recorded message in german which I don't speak. We waited 15 minutes for an agent to arrive. Once he came we were dealt with very quickly and efficiently. He was particularly helpful given my wife's disability. "

" As detailed above, you should not have vehicles for rent that do not have safe tyres. "
" On collection of the rental vehicle we rejected 2 vehicles before accepting a third choice. The first 2 had chunks missing from the tyre wall, these vehicles should not have been available for rental until the tyres had been replaced. This whole process took an hour and involved trips back and forward from the car park to the desk, when we just wanted to get on our holiday. The staff were great and were apologetic and we eventually took a vehicle that was safe, but we shouldn't have had to reject 2 vehicles before accepting 1 that was roadworthy. "

" Autoeurope have been good, but my last 2 hires in Basel weren't great. Previously with Alamo. "
" I was told the car was new, no damage. It had a lot of scratches, and the service light came on every time it was started saying it needed a service. I reported the damage and told the staff about the service warning before I left but they said it was ok. During the hire, I found the start/stop on the car to be erratic and the brakes very jerky. I did report this back to the staff when I dropped it off. It really needed a service. I was disappointed in the vehicle. "

" We have received an accident report on the 9th of December. We don't agree at all with the report. First of all, we did a video of the car with our phone that morning prior to drop off the keys, at 4.28am. And we don't have any damage they are pointing in the report. So we don't believe we have done that. Also they are doing this taking advantage that we weren't present. Maybe their personnel caused it or you took a picture of other car. We have proof in a video. Secondly, the car seat for our child. They are charging us 67CHF, but the reservation we made was 32.97 GBP (39.84€ aprox). Also 90 CHF to make this fake report. This is over the top...unbelievable... "

" I am still cautiously optimistic here for Autoeurope, although the other car rental trawler site claimed that they could reach a refund of the previous unjustified refuelling claim from Enterprise, France, MLH, they never responded, apologized or refunded the charge. "
" Although I pointed out to Enterprise/Alamo, CH upon return of the car that this has been (over)filled with petrol in the vicinity of the airport and offered evidence of the fueling and took a picture of the fuel tank, I was confronted with a re-fill bill afterwards. This is now the second time that this has happened with Entreprise/ALAMO (the case is still unresolved with Enterprise, MLH, French site). A ticket has been generated for the Swiss rental, but I only hope that Autoeurope may be help to put this case right again. "

" I booked BSL airport as pick up and drop off but was not offered the French side. As my trip was totally in France and not Switzerland this made the drop off very difficult and I could have had to pay excessive fees if I broke down in France. It caused me a lot of stress. I did not understand how the dual nation status worked, "

" I dont like that fact that now I need to make sure each time that the staff do not add additional insurance and/or CBD costs when i collect the car. Clients should not need to be vigilant and yet if we are not this is what happens. "
" The counter staff at Basel added CBD to my contract in spite of me stating clearly I would not be leaving Switzerland. There was therefore confusion when we dropped the car off in Geneva. Fortunately the staff there were able to sort it out quickly and efficiently. I was not aware of this change either - before we could if we wanted travel out of Switzerland at no extra cost Normally we do not do this as we have no need to but maybe the car rental people need to make this clearer on the websites. "

" Generally I was very happy with Hertz. The pick-up and drop off staff were frendly and accommodating. They didn't have the car requested, but up graded to another make. However, half way through the high, the battery in the key ran flat. Thankfully we were in a town and so managed to get a replacement battery. Perhaps in cars over 100,000 miles a replacement battery in the glove compartment wouldn't be a good idea. "

It might be worth mentioning to renters that the nearest fill up station is some way away. Failing that, the only pump I found was right by the airport at extortionate rates. " The counter staff dealt with the grumpy couple behind us effectively. They weren't prepared to accept that a man had stood aside to make a phone call for a rental related purpose and was rejoining the queue as we finished. Might be worth considering whether to have extra staff on duty when many booking are scheduled to arrive. "

There were a few very minor items of damage to the car which had not been listed and because of previous poor experiences (with another company) we had to waste time inspecting and photographing them before we could drive away. Would have been great if this had been done before we picked up the car. Better drop-off instructions would have helped us as we are not as tech-savvy as some. Windscreen wipers were rubbish. Needed blades replacing. Would be great if this had been checked as it made driving in the dark and rain very difficult. But overall we were pleased. "

" I got an upgrade which usually is nice, but with the current petrol prices undesirable. More importantly the car showed an electrical fault which meant it could not be used for a couple of hours. The assistance line lady, tow person from adac were very helpful and fantastic. It still had an issue with electrics showing low tyre pressure. For the short time period the car was used two hours of trouble were significant and worrying for the drive to the airport. The staff were fantastic and very professional. The car was problematic "

The man on the counter then suggested I consider taking out emergency breakdown cover, which he said was not free on rentals in Switzerland. I declined, but I think that it is either inappropriate that breakdown cover is not included in an expensive hire car which should be new and reliable (mine had significant damage at the rear); or the man on the counter was offering misguiding information to push customers into unnecessary spend which would also be highly inappropriate. On top of the usually much higher cost of car hire in Switzerland, this has put me off hiring there rather than in France in future - I am a regular customer of AutoEurope. "

" My business meeting finished early and I had caught an earlier flight to Basel to make sure that I could get to my hotel 2 hours drive away before it was shutting for the evening. On arrival at the Thrifty/Hertz desk, I was told that I couldn't under any circumstances take the car until the time it was booked for; even tough they had cars available and the car would still have been returned within the one day rental that I had booked. They wouldn't even let me upgrade and take a more expensive car straight away. The best they could do was let me have the car half an hour before the time it was booked for. They made me go away and wait for 2 and a half hours til I could return half an hour before the booked time. This was despite me telling them that the hotel that I was trying to get to 90 minutes drive away would now be shut. The clerk had to talk to the hotel and arrange for them to hide a key in a mailbox in order for me to get into my room. NOWHERE IN THE T&C'S DOES IT SAY YOU CAN'T TAKE THE CAR EARLIER THAN BOOKED. I understand if there were no cars available because I was early, but this wasn't the case. The clerk insisted this was company policy and refused to help me out in anyway - until 30 minutes before the booked time. I have use Auto Europe many times for booking car hire an both business and personal and have never had this as an issue - ever before. "

The small print in the agreement appears to tend towards 15 Euros per hour. As previously mentioned I am disappointed that Budget took this stance and refused to take our comments into account as past experience with the company have generally been satisfactory. Still had to deposit 1500sf to cover a light brush marks from a hedge. "
