" We had to wait in a queue for an hour and forty minutes to get the car. There was one guy on the desk , dealing with a long queue of customers. He was ok but clearly the desk was massively understaffed for the number of customers arriving. When it was our turn there wasn't a car available and we had to wait another 20 minutes whilst one of the recently returned vehicles was quickly cleaned. Having landed at 10.15am we should have had plenty of time to pick up the car and get to a supermarket before the local half day closing. As it was, we didn't get the car until 1pm which left us with a mad dash to the nearest store before it closed at 1.30pm. Once we got the car to where we were staying, it started showing an overdue service reminder which came on each time we started the car. This was a bit irritating but the car itself was otherwise fine. Altogether it was not a very happy experience picking the car up, and was ultimately extremely stressful, hence the low score. "

" I've hired numerous cars in the past and this experience was by far the worst. "
" Firstly we were told we would receive an email with photos of existing damage on the car, however to date I've never had that email (and I've checked all inboxes). The main issue for us was that the tyre pressure warning light was on as soon as we left the airport. Therefore we returned straight away, having to queue all over again, to inform staff of the problem. The tyre was inflated and we were told there wouldn't be any more problems. We didn't drive many miles during the hire period, but had to inflate the same tyre twice when the warning light appeared again. There was obviously a problem with this tyre (probably a slow puncture) and we shouldn't have needed to keep topping up the air. On returning the car I informed the staff of this problem and their attitude was extremely dismissive, commenting that "it's a common problem". The staff member didn't even make a note of the issue until I said that it wasn't normal for the same tyre to constantly need inflating. Warning lights are there for a reason! The time waiting in a queue to collect and even drop off keys was ridiculously long and very uncomfortable as no air conditioning. Also the signage at the airport for the car hire return is extremely confusing. Whilst there is very small writing to indicate which barrier to use, the same barrier has 'NO ENTRY' signs on it. Isn't that a clear contradiction? As we were not given any guidance on how to access the rental return parking area, we ended up on the wrong car park as this seemed to be the only option. "

" I rented a car on 30th Sept and received my receipt. Firstly, when I picked up the car, I had just driven out of the car park then saw that the fuel tank was only 3/4 full. I had been instructed to return the car with a full tank, so I took a photo of the fuel gauge and emailed it straight away to BZE50@hertz.com. I had no reply from them since then. I sent Hertz the photo to prove that it was taken just after the car was picked up, not hours after, so it's not possible that I used up a 1/4 tank of fuel before taking the photo. In the email I said I would not return with the tank full, but I did in the end return it full as I didn't want to be charged extra for fuel, then I planned to complain about the issue. When returning the car there was no-one at the office at Bezier airport to talk to, even though we arrived within the opening hours shown on the door (11am on 3rd Oct). I've asked Hertz to refund for the quarter-tank of fuel that we put it. It's completely wrong for them to rent the car with a 3/4 full tank then expect it to be returned full. Secondly, on the receipt, I was charged 33.42 euros plus tax for fuel (carburant) even though the vehicle was returned with a full tank. I've also asked them to refund this amount. Since returning from France we have had a message to say that the wheel trim has been scraped and they have threatened to charge £652 to replace it. Firstly, the wheel trim photo showed no scratch whatsoever and secondly a replacement wheel trim costs £27 on the citroen website so we are very annoyed by the ridiculous threat of taking our deposit. Had extremely frustrating time listening to recorded messages and speaking to answerphones, before eventually being put through to a helpful lady who was able to confirm my booking was in place, I asked for email confirmation, but she said no bother as everything was in order. Two days later I went to collect the car at 11.00, there was no Dollar office at the location identified on autoeurope website, I tried to call to get help, but it being saturday, I only got recorded messages. I went back to my hotel where the french speaking receptionist made several calls on my behalf, and eventually we discovered that Dollar cars were managed through the Hertz office, which I had seen but it had been closed (french lunch time) so could not ask. Eventually I went back to Hertz at 2.30 when it had reopened, and from then on the rental went OK. I wasted half a day and was significantly stressed by this. The cause was the failure to send me a confirmation email telling me that I needed to go to the Hertz office, and not a Dollar one, and warning me that it would be closed from 12.00 until 2.00. "

Was told they were going to charge us £1000. So unfriendly and unhelpful. Found key and was told we could get car, no help getting car, had to spend £15 taxi to retrieve car. In the meantime our card was used with out our permission for fuel????? No additional fuel in car. We were on holiday and this experience completely ruined our first few days, customer service was the worst and as a result I would never use or recommend Alamo to anyone "

" Endless issues - pick up took 1.5 hours and counter staff were blunt and unhelpful. Car was dirty both inside and out. Previous customers details including his name, address and credit card details were left in the car. We reserved 2 car seats and were given booster seats when we challenged this the staff were very defensive and claimed that we had ordered the wrong seat. We had to produce our Auto Europe confirmation to prove it was in fact there mistake and were then told that they may not have 2. After scrambling around two eventually appeared. When the car got a flat tyre and had to replaced Europcar (despite claiming they had organised a replacement) failed to supply a similar car at the agreed time and location. As a result we had to go to another location having dealt with unhelpful staff to collect a car. When we returned the 2nd car we were questioned over damage, luckily we had photos to prove it was there on pick up. We were then informed we'd be charged approx 80€ for fuel for the first car that was towed as it was returned full! We queried how much fuel was in the car and the unsympathetic staff member said we don't know so our policy is to charge for half a tank at a massively inflated rate of over 3€ per litre. We were also informed we would be expected to pay for the tyre despite previously being told there was no cost however we have no idea when that will be or how much. When I asked to see the manager I was told he wasn't working and if we wanted to complain then we had to call customer services. I was also told that if I refused to pay for the fuel they would hold the 420€ preauthorisation until I did. I can say one thing for sure I won't be using Europcar again! "

" I'd had my licence stolen in the day before we flew to France. We went to the airport having only images of the license, hoping that would be sufficient. The person on the desk told us that we could only hire with the hard-copy, and would not ring UK DVLA to verify licence (as you can in the UK). Fair enough if that is the French law. But they also told us that we could not sort a refund there and then. Told us to wait until after the booking was supposed to be over... This seems odd. Bit frustrating, really. "

" Had previously (2 weeks before) used AutoEurope very successfully. This time made mistake with dates ( acknowledge that) and arrived to be told by sullen rude unsympathetic young woman to be told "the car was booked for last week". Then on my asking about "why no notification" or " any refund" she was very blunt and rude. Pointed us in direction of Hertz which at 430 in afternoon were able to help us in courteous sympathetic way. I realise I made the mistake but being pleasant and 'sympathetic' would have made a huge difference to 4 tired hot tourists. Hertz were the winners on the day and 2 wks later in London when we needed another car we avoided autoEurope. I know Alamo is an agency and our Liverpool experience with you was fantastic "

" I requested a small/economy car and when we arrived we were told we were upgraded to a bigger car. We did not want a bigger car as we stay in a village with very narrow roads and tight parking. There was no choice of car, we were told, and having to make do with a larger vehicle (a Kango - very large indeed compared with what we are used to) was actually a bit of a hassle for this trip. It would have been nice to have a choice! Otherwise, service all good, staff, condition of vehicle, no quibbles at all "

The wing mirror drivers side was very badly cracked and I tried to report this. I telephoned the pick up desk several times and told that the person was too busy to deal with my complaint. I was promised a call back but never got one. So, rather than making more calls I struggled with it for the rest of the holiday. On returning the vehicle I was made to feel very uncomfortable. The man at the desk admitted that the car had not been checked and cleaned before I took it due to the heavy rain. This does not inspire me with confidence. "

" I have used autoeutope many time. They are usually the cheapest ofetn beating the deals via Ryanair (hertz0 or Easyjet (Auto Europe). The only thing I would like is greater availbility of diesel cars in France where diesel fuel is far cheaper than petrol. Quite often I end up with a petrol car. "

" I was involved in a head on smash ( not my fault) shortly after picking up the car. Enterprise staff were great . I want to make special mention of Antoine Eliot in Montpellier who stayed back way beyond his finish time so we could get a replacement vehicle because we were trying to get to a family reunion .I believe it was only his second or third day in his role and he could not have been more helpful. All three of us in the car had injuries and he and the other Enterpise staff we dealt with on the phone turned what was a very unnerving experience into just a minor inconvenience.Many thanks to all involved. Sorry about the car! "
