" To be fair I have only marked you down because we were upset by the somewhat aggressive behaviour of the young lady when we returned the car. She found a very small dent on the rear o/s wheel arch. Although my wife has taken many photographs of the vehicle to check against the pre-existing condition report we could not find a photo of this area.. We then pointed out additional damage that we had found after we took delivery of the the car but she did not appear satisfied with our explanation. We have used your company a number of times and this is the first time that something has been raised. I could understand if it was significant damage but the dent was small and insignificant compared to the items we found. "

" I booked a jeep renegade which was not available and ended up with the most basic version of the VW t cross which was awful. The car also ran out of engine oip while I had it , I had to get the oil filled at a local garage. Car was also dirty when handed over. All I was offered was a refund for my expenses of oil , the Sicily by car drop off did not even apologise, very poor customer service and poor vehicle condition and maintenance. "

" I was satisfied overall with my rental with Centauro. The car was not what I expected, not as advertised, but was in the same group standard, so it was fine. The condition was okay, showing signs of considerable use having done over 122,000 km, although it functioned well and I had no problems. The staff were very good during collection and drop off. The return shuttle from airport to depot was smooth. The main disappointment was with the pick up shuttle - I followed the instructions and walked to the pick up point. I waited for over 30 minutes, during which time many other shuttle buses came and went, before I telephoned the main office. They told me to try a different pick up bus stop. I walked to the other stop with my family and all bags. Eventually a shuttle bus arrived - apparently the pick up point had been changed recently, but the instructions had not been updated. Overall, I had waited almost one hour to be picked up. "

" Your browser showed the pick up point at the Bologna airport, but in reality, I had to use a shuttle service to pick up the car. The instruction of picking up the care was different between what was written on the voucher and what the agent told me when I phoned them. Very unfair! "

The agent informed me that dropping off time cannot be missed even by minutes as I had no additional insurance. Very stressful. "

On arrive we were unable to find a desk that related to our arrival. Only after calling we were sent a WhatsApp message with a pin location to get too and then call again to let them know we were at their pin location (7/8 min walk around airport building) we then had an 8 min wait till a car arrived to take us to office. I except that these good deals would be impossible if their office was based within the airport but it just didn't help with a current knee injury which restricts my ability to walk much distance without pain. We arrived there at 21:00 to find the place closed, the lady of the rental place next to it went to check if the employees were still at the office at the back closing down but they already left! So we were left in the airport without a car with a three years old child crying. We had to rent another on the spot for triple of the money. How can a reservation be taken for 21:00 of the rental place closes at 21:00. Our flight was on time and I left them my flight number. So they obviously closed before 21:00 without communication at all. We tried to call Auto Europe straight away to help us with another reservation but all their offices were closed. "

This wasn't correct, we were there and the staff told us to go. "

It being only 11am I asked if it was possible to have a Jeep , as described on my booking . I was told this was not possible and was given a dangerously underpowered and terrible Chinese Dr 4.0 There was a relevant amount of damage to the rear end of the rental car , and , to some of the alloy wheels but this damage did not appear to be noted on the rental documents . " We collected a Fiat Tipo (as ordered) from Bologna airport on 4th April. Upon collection it was apparent that the car was covered in dents and scrapes, which was disappointing but we accepted it. We then set off for Florence where we were staying for 3 nights, approximately 30 minutes into our journey the engine management light came on when we were on the Autostrade. This obviously gave me some concern but we managed to get to our accomodation okay. We did not use the car for a day as we were using public transport to view Florence. On 6th April, the car would not start using the key. Luckily I'd parked on a slight slope so I managed to bump start the car. We then set off for Siena for a day trip. Again, approx 30 minutes into our journey, the engine management light and power steering warning light came on along with another light that I did not recognise. This caused me some real concern as we had 3 children in the car. We googled the nearest depot and luckily you had one in Siena. I must say that the staff there were extremely helpful and exchanged the car for us.The replacement car was however a petrol, not a more efficient diesel that we'd ordered. Also, despite the car being an SUV, the boot was much smaller and did not fit our suitcases in, which was an issue as we were touring around a bit. My other concern is regarding the fact that I have received a 'return report' a short time after i'd returned the car to Bologna airport this morning. Despite me filling the tank in Modena last night (at a cost of £76.25) and topping it up 1km from the airport this morning (at a cost of £6.79), the report says that we returned the car only 7/8 full. The staff member did not mention this to me as I would have checked myself.I categorically disagree with this. I would really appreciate it if you can please review this case and come back to me. "

" We had a bad experience with Ecovia/Autovia. We were less than five kilometres from Bologna airport and in a busy motorway when the front tyre blew out. We had to stop and get towed. We discovered the two front tyres were in such bad condition that the metal was exposed. We were lucky we weren't injured. We returned the vehicle and filed a report to the staff. Five months later Ecovia charged us €250 towing costs. Despite a letter of complaint, accompanied with photographic evidence proving the issue was their fault, they continued to take the money from my credit card. I rent vehicles four of five times a year in Italy and have done for years but Ecovia are by far the worst company I've rented from. They might be cheap but for the sake of safety, inconvenience and ultimate cost I'd pay a few extra Euros to go elsewhere. "

Fortunately the petrol station carried it. They charge an extra 38 EUR for that. I am now arguing with customer support of LocAuto (their local contractor) to get this amount back. " Upon receiving the car in Bologna I noticed the warning light for air tyre pressure was on. I went back to reception and explained to them there was a problem with the back passenger seat tyre. An employee put some air in the tyre. During the course of the next two day's driving I had to get air at the service stations 3 times. The air pressure dropped from 2.9 to 1.3 fairly quickly. This in my opinion was very dangerous and time consuming. They should have changed the vehicle at Bologna wen I indicated there was a problem with the air pressure on the rear passenger tyre. "

After an hour of pleading with her we had no alternative but to go to another rental firm who were more than happy to accept my documents & provide the vehicle. Hertz and Avis bith offered us a vehicle. So we were not provided with a vehicle from our booking with you and trust you will refund the full amount I paid back onto my credit card. I trust you can resolve this matter swiftly as I would not wish to escalate the matter with my card provider & report bad reviews on socials after this extremely distressing experience. " We were talked into paying an exorbitant amount of euros for extra insurance which I think, introspect was completely unnecessary. When we finally found the Cinque Cento, it appeared to have just been in a crash and had scrapes and dents to the front. I complained to the girl in the car park area and she eventually exchanged it for a Fiat Panda. At the time, I asked the girl to sign our agreement to that effect but she just said I would receive an email saying that we had been given a different car. That email did not arrive and when I telephoned the office they said that although the booking had been amended online, I would not receive any confirmation. During the first hour on the road the Panda flashed up a warning light on the dashboard saying the oil was dangerously low each time we went round a bend. My husband inspected the dipstick and found that there was no oil showing at all so we bought a can and put it in. There was also no water so we replaced that as well. The car has obviously not been checked between customers or maintained in any way and could have been dangerous to drive. I do wonder if the guy on the desk even knew that the Cinque Cento which he offered us had been in a collision. "

A little later it told me I had 800km to go before the engine would refuse to start and as I wasn't going to get to 800 km I ignored it however the 2x warning lights continued to flash throughout the 5 days. " I have used budget a few times now and always been pretty pleased with them. This time on my return They wanted to charge us for snow chains as it was listed as an additional item on their contract that they emailed us from the desk. I said that I had taken a car out with them in December and was not charged, why is this different this time. They did not really have an answer. I have re-looked at my voucher and it said snow chains were included as part of the voucher. Anyway after some discussion they eventually removed the charge for the snow chains as it turned out they were not even in the car, but it made us feel as though a good experience with the car turned out to be an unpleasant one. "

Every time we opened the boot, we were left with a black residue of dirt on our hands. Additionally, we were advised by Auto Europe to go with Leasys as they were able to provide ski racks. This was confirmed in our contract for hire. Staff at the Leasys counter knew nothing about this and appeared very disorganised. They did not supply the racks we ordered. "

The gentleman who signed return of the vehicle in Bologna was particularly helpful though, as I was running a little late. He even offered to get rid of some rubbish for me. Really good of him. "

" I booked the car for 11.30 am. At 11.15 I was queuing. There were 3 customers before myself. In particular in front of me there was a group of 5 eastern spoken customers (?Russians). They were all taller than me hiding the vision of the lady sitting at the counter desk. After 10 minutes, another customer arrived and he stood next to me. He was much taller than me and could be seen by the lady at the counter desk. At midday, it was my turn. When I approached the counter, the lady was rude to me accusing me to have skipped the queue, that the the guy next to me was there before me. I told her that I arrived before the guy and she didn't see me because I was hidden by the 5 tall ?Russian customers. Despite my explanation she seemed not to believe me. Please note that in the meantime the guy who was waiting next to me was not complaining about me at all, because I was right. When I told the lady that she had just offended me, she did not apologise. She eventually replied that it didn't matter because she had to serve us all anyway. When we completed all the paperwork, she did not tell me that the car was not ready but just instructed me to go to the car park. When I arrived I had to wait for another 10 minutes before a guy arrived and told me that the car was not ready. And again no apologies for the delay. The whole experience left me angry and upset. Luckily the return was better. "

" The staff at Bologna for both drop off and collection were not very customer focused and not what I have experienced as an Avis Preferred customer with work. I was pressured/encouraged into purchasing additional insurance cover saying the Auto-Europe was not sufficient. I refused. The car when collected was in quite a dark garage at night and I surveyed the car and had been advised to take pictures of any additional damage. It was quite clear the car had a number of additional scratches and dents not covered in the paperwork, it was not clean and smelled of cigarette smoke inside. The next day I found the windscreen washer bottle was completely empty. It was not presented to a standard I would have expected from Budget/Avis. I noted the next day whilst driving in day light a stone chip on the windscreen, it was not in direct vision. On return thus was noted and not disputed by myself which I did not agree with was that it had happened whilst under my contract. I am fairly confident it was there on collection but not seen by myself. The staff claim they would never release a car with such a defect but given the level of un-recorded damage I cannot see how they can make that as a factual statement. As it is my word against theirs I am now left with an invoice to pay for a new windscreen and recover some costs through insurance. The whole affair was not handled well by the Budget staff at Bologna (collection or return) and did not meet with the service level I would expect with such a global car rental company. The final straw was being sent an invoice in Italian language so I do not know what I have been charged for and there was no refund of the collection fuel tank charge as we had returned the car with a full fuel. tank. I was left with the impression Budget staff were not as supportive as if the car had been rented direct with Budget, they looked down on Auto Europes involvment as an agent I will make a claim through Auto-Europe but believe the cost should lie with Budget. " There is a fundamental issue with car hire - whether to take the 'full cover' insurance via the booking agent I.e Auto Europe, or with the company that supplies the vehicle I.e Maggiore. The desk attendant spoke excellent English and was quite candid about the difference between the two options above. In effect, he said, if you do not take out the extra insurance with us, as far as we are concerned, you have no insurance, and we will charge you or any new scratch on the vehicle. I was amused by this comment as the vehicle had done 68k km and had multiple existing damage. I think this issue of full additional insurance and whether it is with he booking agent or the supplier of the vehicle needs to be nailed down. "

It took two and a half hours from the time I got to Sicily By Car reception desk at Bologna airport until I drove off in a relatively clean car!!! The desk queue was so long and slow as there was only one person working there. I was then made to feel incompetent by the desk rep because I refused to buy excess insurance (which was being forced at me!) I had to insist three times that I had my own excess insurance. This was dismissed as 'unrecognised' even though I know it is recognised and valid. I then picked the car up but it was filthy dirty!!! Sand everywhere! I suggested that the previous driver had obviously taken the car to the Sahara desert! The wheels were muddy too. I was close to taking the car in that state because I had been at the airport for so long, fed up and the company said they only had much bigger cars available - I was a lone traveller and had hired a small/economy car. Fortunately, one member of staff offered to take the car to the car wash and he was back within 20 minutes. The car wasn't cleaned to a high standard but it was a lot better than before. I liked the actual car and the airport would be convenient for me as I will be travelling more frequently to Italy. However, I could not cope with this Sicily By Car customer experience again!!! "

When I pulled the car forward to put luggage in boot found panels in boot missing with wires hanging out etc. They then agreed to change vehicle which meant redoing all the paperwork. I had 5 disabled and 4 over 80 who had to wait with us in the heat without any apologies or sympathy. On return was made to park the minibus in a a very small confined space with no assistance. Overall extremely poor service. "

Even tried to point out that it was insufficient cover and was I happy to pay for the whole cost of the car if it was seriously damaged! Otherwise car and service was fine. We ensured that the small marks on the car were recorded on camera and by an Agent before leaving the pick up area. "

The collection sheet was not showing some of the damage on the vehicle and I had to find someone to report this to. The vehicle was undercover in the dark and it was only when I hit the daylight that I realised the windscreen was so dirty that I could hardly see where I was going so I had to stop at a service area to clean the glass but it would not come clean due to some contaminant on the glass this was a real safety issue until I managed to get it cleaned professionally. I have rented many cars over the years and this was my worst experience. "

" It was a disaster! We had to e mail Budget Italy 2 days after pick up to get clarification on returning the vehicle empty to which they did not reply. My wife phoned Budget Airport desk and they said it was correct as the my agreement covered full fuel when hired. But this now seems to be an addition? Auto europe have responded to my e mail complaints but fail to say why Budget don't recognise their voucher and why the end cost of rental through them rather than Budget direct has cost me double the advertised rate. I will be contacting Buget HQ to find out what they have to say. I now find that they have a lousy reputation from TRIP ADVISOR and I will be giving them my experience of them and Auto Europe. "

Having paid £35 approx to Auto Europe I was reluctant to pay Budget for more insurance. The desk representative was "forcefully persuasive" that I needed cover against damage and theft. I have complained because of the non recognition of the cover auto europe provide which made any discussion of further insurance impossible. I have received Budgets invoice 109056807902937 against a rental agreement E234914260 which shows that I have paid euro 153.75 for collision damage waver E17 for windscreen protection. What exactly did Auto Europe insurance provide? We have also paid Euro 60.12 for refuelling charge (we returned the car 1/4 full as we were told to retun it empty ... a near impossibilty) and an airport surcharge of Euro 43.37 and a Euro 20 Road fund licence charge. Non of these were identified on the booking site which is totally misleading and makes it impssible to know the REAL COST of hiring from Budget. In my case Euro 378 for 8 days for a compact car. If I had taken your Auto Europe advice and refused to pay anything further to Budget my cost would have been £149.25. "

When we returned to the airport there were diversions on the tangenziale which made our route to the airport difficult, and we had no time to fill the tank. He then became very rude when he realised that I was not going to fall for his lies as I knew exactly what I was covered for. "

She said not, so again I declined the blackmail. After an hour of attempting to sell me additional add ons, I finally walked away with the keys and no additional fees. This is ridiculous and i deliberately booked through Budget, as a reputable company, to avoid these standard issues you experience with smaller companies such as Goldcar. Of course i saw other people being fooled and conned into these add ons. Something needs to be done to stop this criminal ripping off of holiday makers. " DON'T book a car through auto europe/inter rent. I arrived at the counter at Bologna Airport more than an hour after my specified pick up time (30 - 40 minutes of which was spent waiting for a shuttlebus at the airport) and they told me that they had given the car away, as the reservation was only valid for an hour after the specified pick-up time. I had to pay an additional sum for a new car. The man behind the counter complained that I had spent 50 minutes complaining and said that "it isn't all about the customer". "

" My comments about my experience with Interrent are already in Box 3. I have nothing else to add. "
" Getting the car has been very difficult. I rented a car at the Bologna airport (Italy). The interrent car park was not in the area with other agencies, but was far away from the airport, served by a shuttle. This in principle was not a problem, except that finding the shuttle was almost a nightmare. I had to call a telephone number with an automatic system and go through a number of different options, then I was quickly given voice instructions on how to find the place where the shuttle would pick me up, promised that I would receive the same instructions via text message, and reassured that the shuttle was booked for me (but I was not given an estimate of the waiting time). I did not receive any text message, but I tried to follow the instructions as I remembered them. I was not really sure if I ended up waiting the shuttle in the right place (which was not exactly around the corner!) and there was no sign suggesting where the interrent shuttle would stop. After 15 minutes I called interrent again, this time I decided to try to talk to the Bologna agency instead of trying to rebook the shuttle again with the automatic system. While going through the automatic phone system I was asked to enter the first letter of the city where I was on the numeric keypad of my smartphone.. the problem was that the keypad was in numeric mode because I was making a phone call!). That was really confusing, but I somehow understood that to enter the letter "B" (for "Bologna") I had to press twice the number 2 .... Finally I spoke with a human being, and discoverd that while I was waiting in the right place, no shuttle had been actually booked and sent to pick me up! So he sent a shuttle.. .and after 20 minutes I was in his office for the check in. The agency operator was kind, but clearly interrent has adopted a policy of trying to force the customer to buy their insurance. All excessess and penalties are exceedingly large, e.g., €1500 for damage excess and €3000 for theft exceess. And even small damages will attract exceedingly high fee! I was also told that if I did not buy insurance, the deposit that they would take from my credit card would be returned after up to 30 days, which I find it absolutely unfair once I return a car with no damage! In conclusion, similarly to what happens with Goldcar, I felt that the customer who does not buy the full insurance is treated almost as an ennemy. Finally, getting out of the carpark was tricky, the bar would not lift without almost touching it with the car but nobody told me that in advance. When I returned the car (with no damages, thanks God!) I was at first invited to park it in a really narrow slot (the only one available to interrent), then graciously allowed to leave it in a common area - the operator would move it for me. No big deal, but not the most customer-friendly service. Although my experience was not so terrible as with the Goldcar company, in the future I will try to avoid also interrent. "

" I had a very bad experience at Bologna airport with Sicily by Car. They would not accept my Australian drivers licence, even though everyone other car rental at the airport had no problem with it. With two kids with me this left me in a very bad position, but the girl I was dealing with had a terrible manner and could not have cared less. This was some of the worst customer service I have ever had, and the only bad one I've had over many years renting cars. My brother in London contacted Auto Europe and you were very understanding and cancelled and refunded my money. I was then able to rental a car from Sixt - who had no problem accepting my licence - although at almost three times the price for the same car. I had no issue with Auto Europe but suggest you review your relationship with Sicily by Car as with this level of service they could damage your reputation and business. "

" A long queue at the pick up desk, only one person on duty. But I was plucked from the queue by a Hertz rep, who said Dollar was a subsidiary of Hertz, and she would process my booking. The car had under-inflated tyres, and when cornering, the front spotlights came on, and then went off when straightening. The brakes squealed when applied in reverse. Also, never been asked to provide proof of re-fuelling before, in many years of car hire in Italy. But the drop off was good. "

The damage was recorded in words rather than pictorially, which meant we signed for something we couldn't read. "

" Terrible company, hardly any organisation, car broke down on a second day, lost 4 hours waiting for a mechanic, taxi to the airport, waiting for a new car. So far still waiting for 75 which we had to pay for the taxi. When I wanted to speak to someone regarding the 1.5 hr wait for the replacement car, no one was to be found in their office as all three customer service representatives were smoking outside. Shocking! Not to mention the way they were dressed! Hertz, Enterprise etc all wearing suits and ties, Firefly reps in jeans hardly on their bottoms, torn t-shirts. They were also annoyed that I interrupted their cigarette break! Never again! DO NOT RECOMMEND, AVOID AT ALL COST! "

" Negatives: I was told the pick up point would be closed on our arrival at 2330 and so I arranged stay in a local hotel and pick up the car the following morning. It was open when I passed it on the evening of arrival and was able to pick up the car then. I was not informed that I had to check the car in at the mobile check in and I went to the hire office in the airport where I was told I had to return to the car park for check in. This caused me considerable delay and frustration. The 12 volt plug did not work and therefore I could not charge my sat nav which meant it was useless during my holiday. The car and car park was difficult to find on collection. The positives: Great little car, clean and well presented on pick up. Very reliable. "

We wanted someone to look over the car so that we could be ensured that we'd not be charged (something like up to 1500) in case a scratch was found (we knew we had not marked the car) - but it took another 20-30 mins before the rep (same young lady) had time to accompany my husband the 5 mins walk back to the car to check it out and confirm all was well. Had it been Hertz or similar, someone would have met us at the car. Had we been in a hurry to catch our flight we'd have been in trouble. Will use mainstream car provider next time. :( "

Car was not what we had booked and not really equivalent - we had requested a high-chassis car for driving on white roads. Won't be using Firefly ever again. "

Would not use this company again. The rep. also tried very hard to sell us their over-priced extra insurance, despite being told we had an annual policy to cover.
