    Worth knowing about Oslo

The capital of Norway, with a population of over 660,000, lies in the south-east of the country. Surrounded by mountains, hills and woods, the city is divided into 15 districts. Visitors to Oslo arriving by plane have a choice of two airports: Oslo-Gardermoen Airport which is about 35-minute drive from Oslo and Torp Airport, situaed 74 miles away. The latter is mainly dedicated to budget airlines, such as Ryanair and Wizz Air. The location of the Norwegian capital city, at the end of the Oslofjord, gives Oslo a special flair and provides numerous outdoor activities. But before you leave the city to explore the surrounding area, be sure to visit sightseeing attractions in Oslo. Start with the old town, Gamlebyen. Here, you can see many ruins of ancient houses and churches, e.g. St. Clement's Church. In the open-air Norwegian Folk Museum you can experience the past of Norway; over 155 traditional buildings have been built in the museum, where the culture is introduced to visitors through regular events.

Other recommended museums include Framuseum, Kon-Tiki Museum, Maritime Museum, or the Viking Ship Museum. Particularly interesting is Karl Johans gate, the main street, in the city centre. Take a stroll and admire historic buildings, such as Oslo Cathedral, the National Theatre, the parliament building Stortinget, or Grand Hotel. The Royal Palace of Oslo sits at the end of Karl Johans gate. A real highlight, Ekeberg park, sculpture and nature heritage park with free entrance, is located in the south of the city. Plan your time wisely as even a small circular route through this quiet area can take two and a half hours. Feel inspired by extraordinary sculptures and the spectacular views of Oslo. Another nature experience awaits in Frognerpark with Vigeland sculpture park and the largest rose collection in the country. There are regular events and festivals taking place annually, enriching the cultural life of Oslo. One of the most famous events is Oyafestival in August with music fans flocking to see international and emerging stars.

With the right campervan hire in Oslo you will be free in your travels. Explore the region, enjoy the beautiful scenery or visit other cities in Norway. For example, head to Bergen, Tromsoe or Kristiansand. The distances between the cities are quite large, but thanks to a mobile home and countless campsites in Norway, the trip can only go well. If you chose a model with a built-in kitchen, the only things to remember will be stocking up groceries and ensuring you do not run out of gas.

"As usual, the online support was perfect. Auto Europe´s staff helped us a lot with all the paper work and the entire pick-up process in Oslo went really well. Coming back to McRent Norway, we were extremely unhappy with the bedsheets provided at a cost of EUR 44/ person. Extremely used [abused I would say], not matching sets, therefore not meeting the expectations level. Almost the same with the camping set, 4 chairs - 3 different models, a rusted table. We did not face any of these issues last year in Switzerland during our two weeks trip with a motorhome rented from Lorach. The overall positive feedback is also based on the experience with the Oslo staff... helpful and friendly. Guys, you are just one step away to be perfect. Don't be afraid to do the extra mile! Till next trip, all the best!"
