Bratislava Train Station is one of four railway stations serving the city of Bratislava. The station dates back to 1848, although numerous additions, modernisations and alterations have been made since. Namely in 1987 with the addition of a new foyer in front of the original 1905 building. The internal parts of the original building were modernised in 1960 – with the addition of an impressive mural. Almost all rail routes depart or terminate at this train station, making it the city’s main central railway hub. It consists of six platforms and ten railway lines – which together serve regional and international rail routes to Poland, Switzerland, Germany and many more.
Although being so centrally located the closest car hire offices are near the Bratislava Airport. This means that for those who wish to rent a car at Bratislava Train Station, they’ll have to collect at the airport, with Alamo and Budget being a great option at this location. Together they have many years of car rental industry experience and provide an excellent service. Car rental desks are found in the main train station building foyer.
Make sure you have ready all the necessary documents before you arrive at the desk. This will include the car hire voucher, identification, driving licence (International Driving Licence, if required), and a valid credit card under the main driver’s name. A deposit will be held on the credit card and released only once the car is returned in the same condition as when it left. We therefore recommend you fully inspect the vehicle during pick-up and note anything of concern on the pick-up slip. Take photographic and video evidence if possible.
