The exceptionally beautiful city of Dalaman is located in the province of Mugla, on the southwestern coast of Turkey. Despite being popular among tourists, the beauty of its beaches and archeological landmarks is still well-preserved. This is a Turkish speaking region with a population of over 37,000 inhabitants, but communicating in English will not be a problem here. A car hire in Dalaman allows you to explore the province of Mugla and all its glorious mountains and rivers. You can even reach the Turkish resort city of Antalya with just a three-hour drive. Why not contact Auto Europe and learn how we can help you plan your journey!

Tourism is the main economic driver in this region. And that's not surprising, as there are many attractions to keep visitors entertained in Dalaman. A trip to one - or several - of the unspoiled beaches of this area is the perfect way to enjoy the sun and relax. We recommend a nice mud bath to rejuvenate the skin and recharge the batteries. Those in need of adrenalin rush can opt for a wide range of water sports, such as white-water rafting, or even parasailing into the skies.

Nature lovers must stop by Kerkova, a neighbouring town that has an entire village underwater! The place is called Simena, and a guided tour through its ancient remains will provide you with fascination information about how it disappeared as the result of an earthquake. You can also rent a kayak to paddle along the mesmerising turquoise waters. Additionally, be sure to visit Turtle Beach, where loggerhead turtles go to lay their precious eggs. The sight of small baby turtles racing to the water is unlike anything else!

Families can take the little ones to the Atlantic Waterpark in Marmaris (one-hour drive from the city centre). And for the grown-ups looking for something to do at night, just head to the Beach Club of Marmaris and dance the night away! Tourists looking for a good place to grab a bite can drive to the delightful fishing village of Kalkan, which offers a great assortment of restaurants and cafés.

Many resorts are within a walking distance or short car ride distance of the Marina. There, the Dalaman Harbour lights up, especially at night, with a variety of restaurants and bars. Some places offer spectacular traditional dance shows, very colourful, rhythmic and uplifting. There are many different Turkish ancient folk dances, such as Kasik and Horon, and each region has its own, reflecting the cultural life of that area.

You will not want to miss anything!

    Traffic

Dalaman is well-served with municipal and national roads. The motorway D400 is the major road of the Mediterranean coast and it goes through the centre about half a mile to east. It connects Dalaman with destinations south and north, such as Fethiye and Marmaris, respectively. Those driving to the Turkish capital of Istanbul can take the E881. Better roads and recent renovations are making it easier to drive from busies cities to Dalaman and the Turkish countryside, where some places still are unspoilt by tourism. Keep in mind that the steering wheel is located on the left side of the car and that you must drive your car hire in Dalaman using dipped headlights during the day.
