It now serves many of the low-cost and charter carriers operating at the airport. The 27th of December 2006 marked the opening of Terminal 2 which was designed to allow for a future expansion and increased passenger numbers. to meet the requirements of the fast developing traffic during the next decade. Covering a total area of 56,850 square-metres, Terminal 2 is designed to handle 2,000 passengers per hour at its peak. A third terminal - Terminal 3 - is currently in the pipeline and is due to open by 2030 with the main purpose of replacing the existing Terminal 1.
