" Great service overall. They made me pay for a full tank of fuel on collection of the car (at an inflated price it turned out ) and said I could return it empty then OR return full for a refund. We did return full and in fairness the refund was issued at the airport booth within a few minutes. Aside from that, collection and return was quick and efficient and the staff friendly. The car itself wasn't in great shape, it was roadworthy but a lot of little nicks, scratches and dents on it, which we didn't notice until daylight the next day but they had taken photos when we picked it up and it wasn't a problem when we returned. Overall, we will use again and we would recommend as the service was good and the price was very reasonable. "

The garage did not accept my bank card and when I used cash instead it gobbled that up too without a drop of petrol. This should not happen. I also visited another self service garage on Cyprus and even with help from a Cypriot lady we could not work out how to use the pump (the lady could read greek). It would be helpful if you could provide some guidance on how to use self-service garages on Cyprus. It should be straightforward but it is not. In Scotland it is easy. You insert your card, then type you pin and your ready to go. "

Two days after that the car (which was inferior to the first and looked very well-used) developed a fault with the gear stick and became undrivable. This happened on a busy road and could have caused a dangerous situation if I hadn't been able to pull in to a bus stop. Yet again, we needed a replacement car to be brought. Before returning to the airport to drop the car off, we filled the car with petrol but the EuropCar attendants refused to reimburse me as promised because the cars they had provided had had some petrol in them (not full). I was astounded but she quickly changed her tune when I insisted that I had booked AutoEurope because the cars were at the airport. When I asked if there was anyone in the office in the car park she said there were No staff in car park she said they left at 11pm and it was after 12. I was allocated an the old boneshaker that it took me sometime to find in the dark on my own. When I drove off the car made a horrible noise as I tried to drive out of the car park There was noone to ask so had to park and go back into the airport and thankfully the girl at Auto Europe was still there She came out with me and gave me another car telling me I had a "Free upgrade" which was so insulting because I wanted to get to my destination in the quickest time possible and this debacle took over an hour to sort out. Auto Europe do not service their vehicles as far as I can see and give them out without checking their roadworthiness. No staff to appeal to when you arrive late. On my return as I drove up to the car park office an employee of Auto Europe shouted at me that he "Hoped I had insurance". I was nonplussed as he knelt down by the front left bumper and started examining three scuff marks. When he examined in detail the car details the marks were recorded so he had attempted to intimidate me into thinking I had damaged the car. I could not wait to get out of that office. I will never ever hire from them again. They are seriously out of order. "

Also paid more for full to full fuel and they charged me beforehand in case it wasn't brought back full. Never experienced that with Sixt. They take your credit card details so why charge you beforehand? "

Once I found the car, I was supposed to accept the damage report as a given, but I took photos all round and I found a lot more damage that was not on the report. It was dark at this time, and if you don't know what you are looking at, you'll get stung. Also, although I had purchased top up insurance with the booking, I was told that I should purchase Europcar's. This I feel is an attempt to con. It's a nightmare anyway, and other people may not be so switched on to realise they've already bought it. "

" The car that I picked up at Larnaca airport should not have been on the road!!! The front suspension was knocking, I don't think there was any bushes remaining in the wishbones, it was knocking even on smooth roads, also brake disc's were warped/bent. The front seat's were very badly stained and dirty. I exchanged this car at Paphos airport for a more roadworthy car, and was informed that other people who had hired the first car had also complained about the road worthiness of the car. "

" The pickup experience was awful. This wasn't assigned to Cyprus airport car- a company that doesn't exist- but to Europcar. They had 1 person working on the counter, slowly. It took 55 mins to collect the car. I would usually be home by then. And I wasn't even the last. Every other company had at least 2 agents and cleared their queue in 15-20 mins. " When I picked up the car I was just given an envelope and told where it was. I asked if it needed checking and was told no it's all done. So I took the car and left. When I dropped the car back I was told it was scratched and I said it was already there that we hadn't done any damage to the vechile. The attendant then took all my paperwork and said he was going to hold €200 back and would call me once he had spoken to the garage to see if damage was already there. I was in a situation where I could do nothing as I had to book in for my flight. While waiting to board the plane I received a phone call saying the damage was my fault and that it was €200 fee. I asked for receipt as I have insurance to cover it but I have received nothing from them but they have taken £180 from my credit card. So I am very unhappy "

What I then found strange was that they were happy however to hold €250 for reasons not clear and €65 for fuel so I could return the car empty. Again this was without choice even after I said I was happy to bring the car back with a full tank. They said I could do that if I wanted and would be refunded the €65. I would recommend anyone doing this as there is a petrol station right next to the airport and only cost me €35 to fill from just below a quarter tank left. "

As we were picking the car up at 1am lights were a necessary. Replacement vehicle was eventally made available. During the upheaval of changing cars I accidentally left my mobile in the first car & even although the this was reported to their help desk within a couple of hours my phone has never been found. "

" I requested an upgrade on arrival and paid 300 Euros, when we got outside the upgraded car was not big enough even though he had been told the size we needed. On going back he issued another and when we again went outside the second car was a total wreck, banged, broken and dented. After leaving we found the aircon didn't work and we then he'd to return it after two days due to an engine management light. We were then given a suitable vehicle, that is if we disregarded the huge dent in the back! Ady on the desk was just a rip off merchant, Kevin on the pick up point was the only one who helped preserve our sanity. Five hours wasted holiday dealing with a hire car not fit for purpose. "

Telling me we did not have enough insurance, i said i had included insurance but she would not accept this and she repeatedly said we did not have insurance. Her english was also difficult to understand to such an extent we gave up discussing insurance and i caved in feeling pressurised. Im still not sure, but i think i paid a huge sum for insurance which i did not want to but, in the end just wanted to get on my way. I feel this selling of insurance at the desk by someone with only limited english and late at night is unacceptable. I was tired and didnt want the hassle of this pressure selling. " I booked a vehicle for a 9 day hire to be collected on the 23rd July from Larnaca Airport in Cyprus. On arriving at the Europe Car desk i presented my print off to the check in attendant, as she was processing my booking she stopped midway to inform me i have booked a vehicle with no air conditioning and asked if i was sure i wanted a car without this option as the weather was 35c! This came as a complete shock to me as during the booking process and upon reviewing my booking email confirmation there was no mention that the vehicle didn't have A/C. When she showed me my voucher/print off the spec of the car stated 'NO A/C' however this is the only mention of the vehicle no having A/C. Clearly there is a requirement for Auto Europe to state this option is not included but they failed to do this at the time of booking and also within my email confirmation. As a result i had no choice but to pay a 80 EUR supplement to change to a car with A/C, given the rental cost a total of 185 EUR (which after just checking is the going rate for the same size vehicle in peak season with A/C) the supplement equated to 45% of the cost of the total rental cost. I have been using auto Europe for about 4 years. "

" The car supplied to us by the europecar desk was substandard. The radio didn't work, the air conditioning didn't work, the central locking (key operated) did not work properly, the car interior was tatty. The car given to us had 120,500km on the clock - this was reflected in the general state and wear on the car. I cannot recall the last tiime we hired a car where it didn't have a remote locking operation - this one was key locking and didn't lock one of the rear doors. Cars this old and in this condition with faulty radio & air con & locking should not be on the books to be given out to customers. Worst car we have ever hired. "

" I took out the cdw access when I booked the car but was advised to take out their cdw at a cost of 150 euros when I arrived at the collection desk. I did not take their offer but they preloaded my card with over a 1000 euros. All was refunded at the end of holiday ok but this is not a good way of dealing with car hire. "
" I was offered an up grade to a newer car for and extra cost of over 130 euros , when I said I was ok with an older car they said they didn't have one and gave me the newer car for nothing which they said they might change later at my hotel when an older car was available. " We specifically booked an 'offsite' car hirer (Cyprusaptcar) this time to avoid the 20 euros airport charge. The information by Auto Europe was quite specific. Stated 'offsite car hire company; shuttle to location'. The car was at the airport and we had to pay the 20 euros. So not offsite and not a shuttle! "
" The hire car was a Ford fiesta auto, which had peculiar characteristics, re' door sensors, gear change and drive modes. I had to visit one of your offices in Limassol to sort out why doors wouldn't lock and gears not engage. The car had several bodywork abrasions, screen washer did not work due to water tube being perished and I had to slam doors to ensure the sensors allowed correct drive modes to be engaged, as per your rep,s instructions. A simple instruction sheet which noted the cars parculiarities would have resolved the drive problems but there is no excuse for bad maintenance and the missing screen wash filler cap.Having to keep slamming doors to ensure they would lock got a bit wareing over two weeks. "
