" Auto Europe did not pass the request for child seats on to Drivalia so I hold them predominantly responsible for the inconvenience and having to buy child seats that I do not need or want. Because the request didn't go through I had to leave my young family for two hours at the airport, whilst I went on a wild goose chase to buy child seats. A very stressful experience. "

" I recently hired a car through yourselves and Drivalia at Naples Airport. The hire dates were 24/7-5/8. I paid for an estate vehicle which is large enough for a family of five plus the luggage. However upon arrival at Naples Airport I was told there were no estate vehicles available and that they were now going to provide me with a Jeep Compass. I asked the lady behind the desk if this was going to be big enough for our luggage, she informed me that it was and was larger than the estate I had booked. The vehicle was Infact not big enough so I had to return to the desk and inform them of this. I ended up waiting over an hour for a replacement vehicle which was a Citroen C3 Aircross, which was old and had in excess of 300, 000 miles on the clock. I again complained to the lady behind the desk, all she could say was there were no more estate vehicles left and that the Citroen was all they had remaining. I don't believe this is acceptable given I paid for an estate vehicle I was provided with a downgraded vehicle and wondered if it would be possible for a reimbursement? "

" Everything was bad and continues to be bad. Firstly a long queue in the hot sun for the courtesy bus at Florence airport. Secondly the two hour queue at the Drivalia desk to collect keys. Thirdly the condition of the vehicle, so many nicks and scratches that it wasn't worth taking photos. Fourthly the fuel tank was not full - it showed 350km in the tank. The two hour queue meant there was no point going back to the desk .. we had had enough and just wanted to get away. The return was worse. Drivalia office locked. Designated Drivalia parking spaces overflowing. No Drivalia staff to help. A return visit to the Drivalia pick up desk showed a massive queue. We had no choice other than to abandon the vehicle in a parking spot for another rental company. We emailed Drivalia to let them know where the vehicle was and to emphasise that we returned the vehicle with more fuel (400km) than on departure. The only response we have received to date is an invoice for fuel plus surcharge and a scratch to the vehicle totalling 450 euro. We have disputed the fuel charge and asked for a photo of the damage so that we can claim on our insurance but we have had no response. "

When we arrived and were attended to, the booking seemed to go well until they ask3d for our deposit with my credit card. Initially I put in the wrong pin number and the payment was declined. They advised me to contact my bank which I did. On speaking to the bank I realised I was using the wrong pin number and the bank told me to proceed with the correct pin. But when I then inserted my card it was declined before I had the chance to put in my correct pin and the receptionist suggested I call my bank again.. My bank (Barclays) reassured me the card was in good working order and I should have no problems. To check I went to the nearest cashpoint and was able to withdraw cash. On returning to Drivalia when I inserted my card it was declined again before I could put in my pin number and the receptionist said they could not accept my card. She said the only way to proceed was to use a debit card and take out their full insurance for 500 euros. This was in addition to the additional insurance I had taken out with you. By this point we had been waiting over two hours, were tired and stressed and needed to get to our destination as soon as possible. We were also aware that we had already paid for the car via you. We therefore agreed and made the payment in order to have a car and not be stranded at Bergamo Airport. When we eventually started our journey with the car we realised that the petrol levels were very low and as soon as we arrived on the motorway (less than 5 minutes from the airport) the light indicating very low petrol came on and we only just made it to the first service station to purchase petrol. We returned the car with the same amount and Drivalia accepted this. The whole experience was stressful and upsetting as well as having to pay an additional 500 euros that we did not need to pay and would like compensation. "

While what I spent for the flight was given back to me super fast, Auto Europe told me I can only get a refund if I cancel my flight 48 hours in advance. So Auto Europe kept my money. The car rental told me if I had booked directly through them they would have refunded me. In that case I was told that I need to contact Auto Europe. Which I did. I even forwarded them with the email I received that was saying my flight had been cancelled. I got a reply saying what I said at the beginning with added, the part of the contract that says that I only get refund if the rental is cancelled within those 48 hours. Useless and very disappointing. I couldn't enjoy my hols as I couldn't reach my destination and i lost a good amount of money. Enjoy my money Auto Europe, but you can be sure you've lost a customer. We had taken full cover online and we were not asked to purchase more cover when we arrived (this had happened to us in Italy before and we felt pressurised to pay more for the car on arrival). The customer service was very good. The only small thing was that we waited a long time at the desk at drop-off and no-one was there to serve. My husband went looking for someone and was told we could just drop our keys in a box. Had that been clear from the beginning, we wouldn't have wasted so much time waiting around. I am requesting a reassessment and cancellation of the above invoice for an amount of 255.36 euros, because at the time of picking up the vehicle at Palermo airport, the car already had the mentioned damages, and I asked the employee to change it because it was broken. The employee then informed me that there was no other replacement available and that I just needed to take pictures of the damages for a subsequent liability waiver. I have and attached photos were taken in the Drivalia parking lot at the time of pickup. I therefore ask that this charge be reviewed and canceled. " Only issue which has been highlighted before is that the rental courtesy bus stop is left out the airport and not right as on the voucher. It was a long wait (20 mins) and no chance we could get on with the crowd that was before us. Waited another 20 mins at least before the guy returned. Should have walked despite 37 degrees (red path takes you all the way in less than10 mins) but had lots of bags. Next time will leave passengers in the A/C Arrivals hall , walk, collect car and then return to pick up passengers and bags. "

Maybe because we were late arriving there was no waiting time and we were off in the car within 20 mins. Returning was a bit more frantic as lots of cars were milling around but having dodged the crowd we parked exactly where we collected it and were seen immediately by a charming agent who did the paperwork then and there with no hassles. We didn't take it but they made it clear that they weren't happy about it. This was very disappointing and tainted the holiday as soon as we arrived. This delayed our trip further as this took, over 90 mins, we then had to buy food for our daughter as we would not arrive in time for dinner where we were staying, again, this will be claimed for once the deposit is returned. The car was horrendous to drive, the 2nd gear was impossible to get in to from 1st or 3rd gear, this was fed back at return. The flight delay was out of my control and the lack of care or understanding from the Drivali staff, made this even more frustrating to the whole hire process. "

You would have thought we would have got a discount or something from them but NO. All in all a really bad car, & poor end-2-end service. "

" Drop off was no problem and Verona drop off counter staff member was very efficient, but pick up at Rome Fiumicino was not. We had to wait an hour to be served at Rome. We have hired cars before for several years but we were new to Drivalia and this was our longest ever wait and pick up process ;there were too few persons for the numbers of clients waiting. The car we were allocated in the pick up car park was different to either what we specified at order or what the pick up desk offered as equivalent, but it was equivalent, worked OK and got us around so no complaints about the model of car or its abilities. It was quite battered so we had to take a lot of pictures to be sure we didn't get charged for damage as the pick up paperwork damage description section was fairly general so there was "room for misunderstanding". The car had been turned round very quick from it's previous hire as it was not cleaned and no water in windscreen washer for example. The pick up staff in the parking lot refused to change it for another car and moved on to their next client after handing us the key. Due to the very long wait we had just had at the main service desk we did not try to take this up with the staff at the main pick up desk. Tyres were OK and air-conditioning worked. Sun roof we didn't dare operate as the fabric screen was damaged and we felt it may fail if we tried to open it. The transit charge payment for different drop off was not clear as to amount and when we would be charged. Rome said it would be at drop off and Verona said it would come off the deposit but we had to wait for an e mail invoice to finf out how much so this could have been clearer. It was close to estimated amont on website when hiring but there was tax on top of 16 euro. Overall, not our best car hire experience in Italy but we would use Auto Europe again but maybe not choose Drivalia from Rome Fiumicino. "

My flight was delayed by 40 minutes, so I arrived to the desk around 5:20 pm and it was closed. I tried to call Drivalia first, no reply or whatsoever. Turns out that they close at 5 pm! It was Wednesday, not the weekend, not a holiday. There were other rentals around but none of them was closing at 5 pm. They had my contact details, they had my flight number, so they could have easily checked that my flight was delayed and waited for me. I called Autoeurope explaining the problem and expecting them to help me resolving the issue. The member of stuff was defensive from the very beginning, she blamed it all on me, refused to help finding me another car and refused to give me a refund. So, I ended up paying €220 for taxi. Autoeurope gave me the worst car rental experience I've ever had. Never again! "

Contestazione del danno: Il presunto danno, nello specifico un graffio, non era presente al momento della riconsegna del veicolo. La macchina è stata restituita alle ore 17:15, come da mia dichiarazione e presenza fisica, mentre il controllo da parte del vostro personale è stato effettuato successivamente, oltre le ore 18:00. " I hired a car from one of the providers recommended by your website: Drivalia. I am a returning customer however I not sure I will actually come back to use your services again in future. My carhire was for 6 days. When I picked up the car in Linate Airport terminal, I checked the car for existing damages, as one usually does at the point of pick-up. The car was parked in a corner of the parking space, with the passenger side of the car against the wall so I could not see it properly. While I was trying to look that side of the car, the guy supervising the car collection kept saying that all the existing damages were included in the paperwork sent to me by email. He insisted that he personally checked for damages after the previous customer had returned that very car, so to trust him. I left and drove to Brescia which was my final destination. I kept the car inside a private courtyard and did not use it until the day of my return to Linate 6 days later. When I returned the car, the Drivalia guy spotted a couple of dents on one of the car rims on the passenger side of the car. As I did not use the car during the hire period, it is evident to me that those damages were already present at pick-up and had not been properly documented on the paperwork, together with the existing damages. Parking the car in a corner against the wall did not help me making sure that what was documented on the car paperwork did actually match all the existing damages. This costed me an additional 110 Euros. While I am happy to pay for car damages I am responsible for, I am not happy to be taken advantage of due to a careless lack of professionalism on Drivalia's part. It is evident that the sited damages were already there at the point of pick-up. Drivalia quite conveniently did not care enough to record them properly and most likely an additional bill was picked up by the next customer, for the very same damages. I hardly believe I will use Drivalia again. "

What was annoying was a warning which kept appearing on the dashboard to check the tyre pressure. It did not indicate which tyres and I had not time, or inclination to go to a garage to have it checked. Cars should have a minimum of service including tyre pressure. On a previous occasion, in a different car, I got the warning to check the engine oil levels. We dit=d and it was perfect, but the warning kept coming and could not be switched off because it was connected with the digita maintenance check clock of the car. However, I was charged €363.56 by Drivalia for "Super cover" and "Extra road assistance" and a one-way fee. I was not told of any extra charges either when picking the car up or dropping off and only found out at a later day. These extra accessories "Super cover" and "Extra road assistance" were in no way explained to me at pick up. I did not request them and would not have expected them to be added because I had selected "Full Damage & Theft Protection" with Auto Europe. "

" We were given a dirty car - filthy on the outside it had litter left in it and was covered in muck and had a light odour of puke . It wasn't the car we'd asked for -it was from a manufacturer we've never heard of when we were expecting a Fiat. Half way through our trip the rear tyre exploded while we were driving on a motorway - this was a frightening and deeply dangerous incident and from looking at the tyre it looks like it should have been replaced a long time ago. we managed to get the car stationary on the hard shoulder . We have 2 young children and we had our lives endangered by driving in an unserviced car that was not fit to be hired out. Having reached the service number we managed to get the car towed but there was no provisions,care or concern for our family. We had all our suitcases in the car and we were being asked to get out the car on the hard shoulder of a motorway with our children so that the vehicle could be taken - There was no assistance for us - no taxi we could locate despite calling all the local companies we could find, and your company makes no provisions for the people renting the car - instead we are expected to make our way to your rental office somehow. We tried multiple numbers but couldn't reach anyone to help us, the UK and Italian offices were closed and the local offices just endlessly rang out. We ended up having to sit in the car while it was on the back of the tow-truck and get dropped at a service station by the tow-truck - which is unsafe, illegal and uninsured. The service and organisation is truly disgraceful - we were later told that your phone line wasn't working in Bari Airport so we were calling a number that didn't even ring anywhere. We were then charged for the repair of the vehicle that put our lives in danger. "

" The only reason i picked Drivalia when searching online was because it said 'desk in terminal'. This is not true - the desk is at least half a mile from the terminal. I have hired cars many times from this airport and did not want to walk half a mile in heat with children, or wait a long time for a shuttle bus so I was very keen to pick up from the terminal. This information is false and misleading. I waited almost 2 hours at the Drivalia office for the car. I was told not enough cars so was offered a much smaller car. Eventually managed to renegotiate a car large enough for a family of 4. No one took me through the scratches etc so i had to take a video. No information given about what to do if there was an issue with the car. No water in windscreen wipers. 2 weeks into my 3 week hire, the car broke down (16/08). I was staying in a rural location with my children (with no other adult) - I needed a car even to get to the nearest shop. I called Drivalia at Naples airport and the line went dead. I tried this 3 times. I then emailed Drivalia at Naples airport using the email given on the rental paperwork. The email was not answered. Over the next 3 days I emailed repeatedly and no replies or attempts at contact were made. I could not get to shops for water or food and lost 3 days of my holiday. I was a single woman with 3 children. My husband tried contacting Drivalia from the UK (17/08) and got no answer so contacted Autoeurope and received terrible customer service - he was told nothing could be done and that we would just need to get a taxi back to the airport at the end of the holiday and claim back the fare. He finally managed to get someone to send an emergency email to Drivalia (17/08) and was assured that it would be responded to within 24 hours. It was never replied to. None of my emails have ever been replied to. During this time i contacted the nearest Drivalia office in Frosinone and was given an emergency assistance number. I tried this number multiple times and it went dead/did not connect. On Monday 19/08 i managed to get a relative to drive me an hour to the Frosinone office. I took the key with me intending to request a new car and give the key to the Drivalia staff so they could retrieve the broken car. The man at Frosinone ( I think his name was Gianlucca) was incredibly helpful and the only person in my entire experience of dealing with this company that was willing to help. However he spoke to the roadside collection people and was told that I needed to be back with the car with the key and that he would not be able to release another car until the broken one was collected. I explained that this was unacceptable and that I had driven an hour and had already endured 3 days of no car. I explained that I had no way of getting back to Frosinone (my elderly relative could not drive me a 2nd time to Frosinone) and that I was on my own with 3 children in a rural area. He was sympathetic to my cause and called customer service. This woman was incredibly rude and shouted at me that i 'had not followed the process of calling special assistance first'. I had done this - and the number did not work (this was verified by Gianlucca who also tried the number on my phone). She insisted i could not have another car until i had gone back to to the original car, waited for the tow truck, got the paperwork and then travelled (somehow - seeing as i had no car) back an hour to frosinone. As you can imagine, this was incredibly stressful and i was visibly upset. He then tried his manager who also was not willing to agree to releasing a car. My relative had to drive me back to my accommodation, where i waited for the tow truck and I then had to arrange for a taxi to come from the nearest large town (no taxi companies in my actual location) and go back to Frosinone. This cost 150 euros - which I will be claiming back from Autoeurope/ Drivalia. This whole experience took 6 hours. This has undoubtedly been the worst hire car company I have ever dealt with and it has also been the worst and most disgraceful customer service that I have ever experienced. This was a health and safety issue - as I was alone with 3 children and had no way of getting to shops even for water. I am appalled at the service at the airport, the lack of replies to emails and phonecalls, the phone numbers that don't work and policies that do not have the customer's best interest at heart. I am also incredibly angry at your company's seeming willingness to leave a woman with 3 children effectively stranded for 3 days. I lost 3 days of my holiday, incurred significant stress and expense - because of the outrageous ineptitude of these 2 companies. I would like someone to contact me with information on how to log a formal complaint and start the procedure of making a financial claim. "

" Auto Europe would do well to offer the option of a fully comprehensive insurance with zero excess, to cover all eventualities, as they used too, but directly with the prospective hire company the booking is made with, to avoid complications in the event of an incident. "
" Understaffed and ill prepared, it took us two hours to retrieve a car, primarily because they didn't have enough staff to deal with the volume of clients and then to compound the delay, even though the booking had been made weeks in advance, cars were not available to distribute to customers. When I pointed out that it wasn't right that customers were made to wait in long queues for hours, delaying their onward journey, no apologies we're offered, no responsibility was taken, no attempt to make amends was made. Upon receipt, the car was spotless, but they must have had a quick turnaround because the screen wash was empty. When we arrived at our destination, we could not fold one of the wing mirrors, we later discovered that it had been glued in the open position. Not great, when driving the narrow roadways of the Amalfi coast line. We took an early morning flight to ensure we would avoid the heat of the mid-day sun and arrive at our destination in time for lunch, with it taking us longer to retrieve a car, than the time it took to fly to Italy, not only did we miss lunchtime, but we found ourselves to be characterized by the famous saying, " mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun. "

" Pick up experience was a joke. Customers without bookings taking priority over customers with bookings who would have been served much quicker. One family took 40 minutes to be served and at one point had both counter staff helping them. Horrendously inefficient. Got to the car and it looked as if it had just completed the Dakar Rally. Covered in scrapes and bumps and had not been cleaned. This is without mentioning the car we got was on no way the same level as the one booked. On returning the car I was made to wait 15 minutes for someone to show up to receive the car. When they arrived they had no record of the state the car was in. Luckily I had pictures of everything so could prove none of the damage was me. Don't book with these guys. Just don't. "

" We booked an Alfa Tonale for c£900 for 10 days, on arrival at the Drivalia desk we were informed that the Tonale was not available and we were provided with a JEEP! The Jeep we were provided is currently advertised for c£600 for 10 days and is classified as a Intermediate class whereas the car we actually booked for classified as an SUV class so not "or similar" or a Jeep in another class! and £300 difference in price which wasn't returned to us or offered to us!. Drivalia only have ONE Tonale on their books at Verona and even though I had booked this vehicle in May/June they still sent it to be "serviced" when it was meant to be available for our collection date. They didn't tell us ahead of the collection date possibly due to the cancellation policy. We were able to cancel our booking right up until we arrived at the desk as we had included the cancellation cover. "

Despite the queue not being long, the amount of time per person dealt with was about 20 mins! The vehicle broke down within the first 48 hours and had to be towed away. I was then left to fend for myself to obtain a replacement, calling Drivalia locations directly. I was without a vehicle for 36 hours and then had to travel by bus to collect a replacement of a lower standard. Drivalia have charged me an extra fee of €130 for no apparent reason and without explanation. They have not reimbursed me for the lost 36 hours or lower grade car for the majority of my hire period. I will NEVER use Drivalia again. "

" On collecting the car, the person behind the desk was insisting i take additional CDW even though I told her I'd alrady purchased it in the UK. She was adamant that it doesnt work in Italy that way, and when I refused her demeaner changed to being very rude. There was no one around when i collected the car to point out there were marks on the car, so i just took photos. On returning the car we had to drop the keys off very early at 5.30 (Which is fine) however, I discovered I had left my mobile phone in the car and couldnt retriev it due to opening hours (My stupid fault, I know). Once my flight landed at Catania, I went to the Drivalia rental office, where they were no help and indicated they couldnt call the Naples team as they use the same contact number (390 81 7512055) as I had ben calling. They told me to contact customer service but couldnt give me a number. By now there were a few people behind us and it was obvious they wanted us out of the way and getting very irratated by my asking why they couldnt give me a number. I have since found a customer service email and had no response. I still try the above number everyday several times hoping soemone will answer. I have alsotracked my phone and its still in the vicinity of the drop off so someone has see it and and put it somewhere. "

" The queue and wait at Brindisi airport was horrific- one person working the counter simply not sufficient. Technical errors meant manually adding information. Upon finding the car, there was significant side damage which was not on the paperwork. The counter guy happened to be crossing the car park and I called him to say there was damage but he just waived me away saying Si, Si, Si. The car was absolutely filthy outside to the extent you got dirty hands just opening the boot. Finally turning the engine on there was only three quarters of a tank of petrol. Given it was late, the horrific queue we did not return inside to contest the petrol level but We returned it full anyway. Happy with the quality of vehicle in general. It being only 11am I asked if it was possible to have a Jeep , as described on my booking . " I will not use Drivalia again. At pick up there was only one assistant working and it took about 45 minutes to start the check in process. It was then very difficult to find the office location in the garage at Linate (up to Level 5, walk through the garage, look for an Avis office, go through an adjacent door, down the stairs to Level 4) and when we did eventually get there we were met by a very indifferent staff member who gave us our keys and we were pretty much left to find our car amongst hundreds (it was not parked in a numbered bay but outside on a terrace). The car make was DR. Never heard of it, and it was a pretty sluggish ride and difficult to overtake on the motorway. But the worst experience was on returning the car in Bologna. There were no staff in the garage to check the car back in. Also Drivalia don't have an office in the garage like most of the other car companies. We asked nearby reps from Sixt and Sicily by Car where they were and everyone just said we had to wait for them to return. One suggested we just go back to the terminal office. After 10 minutes with no show, we just locked the car up and went into the terminal as we had to check in bags for our flight. The staff member at the desk said to me "You have to go back to the garage". No apologies, just a barked instruction. I said "No way, I've got a plane to catch. If you can't organise to have a staff member there, that's your problem not mine". A full on argument followed. I was told that I should take pity on the guys as they had 50 cars to wash (apparently) and I should show more humanity. He snatched the keys off me, and he refused to give me a receipt for the car's return. That was my experience. Not to be repeated. "

The best bit though was when I started the car the display said I only had 412 kilometers before it would not start - Please refill with Add Blue. When I went back to the desk I was told they did not have any and that I should get some from a petrol station, it would be about 5euros for a litre. Well it does not work that way, garages sell in 5 or 10 litres and with the mileage being so low would need nearer 10 litres to reset the cars computer and at a cost of 35euros. Completely disgraceful, I shall not be using this company again. "

Three days later we discovered that Drivalia had deducted €90 from the Blocked deposit, for what we assume was for fuel. The car was left Totally FULL, unlike when we picked it up, at the time the fuel gauge showed it was NOT full by about 2 bars. We have evidence of this as I photograped this on pick-up. We have since then contacted Drivalia AND Europacar notifying them. We have had no response from either party. Hence the poor ratings. "

So we were on the Autostrada, in driving rain, when the display showed that the front left tyre had "insufficiente" air. When we stopped, I checked the manual and there should have been 2.4 bar in each tyre. The front left had 2.1, all the others were 2.2. Really bad that they didn't check the tyres as it was a real pain to find out the correct pressure and top them up in the rain! "

The person in charge told us it was due to our VISA card wasn't a credit card; but it was. He was unpleasant, we feel hostages, We didn't know why we had to pay this amount of 151.28€ . The person talked about an "insurance" and corresponding to three amounts = 59.78€ + 48.80€+42.70€. That was the only explanation we've got with no invoice or receipt. "

" The first car was old, not very clean and the seats insiode were stained. It drove poorly and within 15 minute sof leaving the airport I hit a stone in the road and the tyre burst. We fitted the temproiray wheel and it was obvious the tyre was in a poor conditron with lumps out in variuous places. We returned the car next day and they supplied us with a mych better one which was fine. However we were told we would be charged for the new tyre! I will challenge the charge if it appears on my credit card and may need to involve Auto Europe And we had to fill the car up even though all our driving was caused through them supplying us with a car that had a faulty tyre. However the staff were friendly efficient and the replacement car was fine. "

" My only complaint is that I booked a small Fiat 500. I much prefer a small car in Italy because it is more economic and much easier to park. I was told there were no small cars available and was given a large DR which felt very clumsy and was very heavy on petrol. I felt as if I was driving a minibus instead of a small Fiat 500 or Fiat Panda. As I said , this is my only complaint about Drivalia whom I have used several times in the past couple of years. "

" As above. The queue system tests your patience so you need some recognition of your frustration when picking up the car. Have had Drivalia before without this but at that time they were not sharing their space with another company. "
" The queue to pick up the car was unacceptable standing in the hot sun. Two carhire suppliers at the one desk made this worse. The desk was well staffed but some hirers took nearly half an hour. There was a queue number system but not in use. Took 1 and 3/4 hours to pick car up. One of faults noted was tyre puncture. When asked about it I was told it was a new tyre which it clearly wasnt. On switching the engine on a message came up "urgent maintenance needed". When I pointed this out I was brushed aside while the service worker just reset the computer. On return a different service worker was courteous and friendly. "

" Awful, a real rip off, vehicle unsafe for driving, dirty, even whit a white sticker on the outside which all my family asked about what it was!!!! Probably a reminder that the car was supposed to be checked out properly, washed, tank filled etc before been giving to customers. " I do come to Turin quite often at least once a month and this time was the first time using Drivalia. The car was extremely expensive for what it was, a fiat panda which was given to us dirty and with the rear screen wiper broken! Please note that it did rain quite a lot during our stay in Italy and not having working wipers was really non convenient and unsafe. Car was suppose to to be on full tank and was given with less which is not what I signed for. I asked at the counter to speak with a manager as I expected to get a reduction on the charge for this car which was extremely expensive for the condition of the vehicle we obtain on the day. I will be posting a negative review as I wrote on the contract handed in to the young lady at the desk unless I will get some money back from this very bad rental experience. "

" I have been booking cars with you for 15+ years sometimes 6/8 times a year. I booked an electric car as this was not clear when I booked. It was impossible to recharge as you needed to download the app and put details in which included Italian tax details which we don't have. We had to cancel a trip to the Aosta valley, the whole thing was a nightmare. "

I thought I would miss my flight, so I just pushed the paperwork and the car key through the window onto the desk! It's absolutely shocking when there is a flight leaving (and bear in mind Genoa is a tiny airport) and there is a passenger who needs to return a car, to leave the office totally unattended !!! "

Ground crew refused to swap car without us walking back to terminal, but did relent after a couple of minutes. No computerised checkin/out system so all bits of paper, and no damage logged on sheets- had to take own photos! Very good value though (£100 less than next cheapest) and got a car upgrade, and didn't have to pay for second driver. Would probably say was worth the hassle. "

" Absolutely appalling pick up experience, which is largely why I've rated it as unlikely to recommend. Rome Fiumicino airport felt very quiet - it was early afternoon on a Wednesday. We flew through security and baggage reclaim and headed straight to the Drivalia desk. Three staff were serving, and then only two. It took 2.5 hours from picking up my ticket until I was served. Every other car hire desk seemed very efficient with no queue. Drivalia had a huge crowd around it and was exceptionally slow at processing each rental. For people who had made a prior reservation, there should have been a fast track lane - as I believe it was the people turning up wanting a car that were causing a lot of the delay. Waiting here 2.5 hours on the first day of our holiday meant we were late for our check in, late for meeting friends and only got to our accommodation in time for dinner, when we'd hoped to do far more with our first day. The car was also in a much worse state than was declared on the contract form, and I had to identify at least 5 significant bumps and scratches myself and go back to the office to get them to come and do a further review. I'm glad I did this as I would undoubtedly have been penalised for them. Drop off of the vehicle at the end was fine, very efficient. But overall, this was a poor experience and I'll be unlikely to use Drivalia again. "

" We spoke with the emergency customer service who advised us to email the customer service team and tell them about our experience in order to get a refund for the price of the hotel we had to stay at. It took days for a reply and they asked for a picture of the reciept showing what we had paid for the night at the hotel. I sent this a week a go and I still am yet to hear anything regarding this payment. "
" When I picked up the vehicle I was given the keys and went to go and check the car. When I got to the car it was blocked in on all sides. I walked back to the desk and the lady Giulia I think she was called was gone and the desk was closed. People from other companies tries to help me to locate her but she did not answer the phone. We were stuck with a baby and myself being pregnant at the airport. We luckily found a place at the hotel next door and had to pay for this for the night. We went back the next morning and the car was still blocked in. The lady at the desk denied leaving even though I had phone call evidence and picture evidence and was very unhelpful, shouting at us and refusing to help. I rung customer services who advised me to take the car and who assured me we would get a refund for the night we had to stay in a hotel due to the staff members incompetence. "

However, no Drivalia rep came to review the damage on the car at the start of the booking so I had to video the car to make sure I wasn't held liable for any of the previous damage. The car itself ran smoothly and efficiently though. Drop off was straightforward, other than the pretty awful directions in the car hire car park at Naples. This was a known issue I've had previously though so not a reflection of the hire company in any way. All in all, pretty happy and would definitely book through Drivalia (and auto Europe) again. "

I had to drop car off before the office opened but there was a box to drop the keys in so again I was pleased with this. My only complaint would be that when I picked the car up there was only 2 bars of petrol which dropped to one bar before I got out of airport. I notified woman in carpark office and she that's OK. I put 50 euro petrol in car and dropped off car with same amount as when I picked up. I have received an invoice by email for filling up car and also refuelling charge. I haven't today (9/7/23) been charged and really hope I am not charged as I would be extremely disappointed and angry. "

" I telephoned Auto Europe from holiday, held for ages to let them know I did not get a car. Was told to email them to get refund. Did so twice then called. They said did not receive emails. They sent me a secure link then responded. Was told I would get refund in 10 days. Did not get refund. Called several times and was told different stories (would take 8 days, 10 days, 11 days then 15 working days after Drivalia contacted them. Received money almost 1 month after not receiving vehicle. Booked on credit card and it does not take that long to refund a payment. Would never boom with them again, worst customer service and did not care. "

I choose Drivalia as it seemed like the only car rental company that on the airport, but it was away from the airport with all the other car rental companies.. so rather misleading. Other than this, the service from Auto Europe was very good. "

" Pick up point far from the airport. We had to wait for a shuttle which we didnt find easily outside the airport. Wrong directions led us to the old pick up point. The car was dirty inside and outside. The staff told me they only cleaned the car inside (it was dirty anyway) and could not wash the car on the outside since they recently moved to this new pick up location and the car wash did not work. The tank wasn't full as expected. They told us the car returned to them with the tank full to 7/8 and we could have returned it the same way which was not easy to do since we didnt know how much petrol we should put to get back to tank 7/8. Getting to the car hire location in Pisa airport requires a short courtesy bus ride (don't bother walking) but currently the system is not clear on site, but that is the airport's responsibility "

" I rent cars in Italy a few times a year and I use AutoEurope because I just want the cheapest car. This car rental was VERY cheap so I'm satisfied overall but other rental companies are better (their counter staff turn up). "

" It took 90 minutes to get to the desk, there was only one person on and it was taking 20 minutes plus to deal with each customer. They were not interested in any of the paperwork (voucher, DVLA record) I had printed out, all they wanted was me to fill out a form. There was no walk round of the car, the tank was 3/8 full and was to be returned the same which is not easy to judge. I had never heard of the vehicle - a DR that we were given but it was totally useless for driving in a mountainous area, I basically had to use first or second gear to keep any speed with a tailback of furious Italian drivers behind me! Drop off was strange to, nobody there to check the cars, I had to go across and hand the keys in at the rental desk in the arrivals terminal, I would have preferred that that they agreed the car was in the same condition when I dropped it off, we took photos of scuffs on the boot lip and a chip on the tailgate before we departed. Overall not a great experience "

" After driving just a few miles a warning came on about low pressure oil. I took the car to a petrol station and they add 2 litres of oil (max capacity it's about 4.5 L). The car could have broken down any minute. Still waiting for a refund (2L of oil =€30) "
