Driving Licence Requirements

The driving licence requirements in Kuwait state that you must have a full driving licence valid in your country of residence. It is recommended to also have an international driver's licence.

Age Restricitions

To hire a car in Kuwait, you must be at least 21 years old (age may vary by car category) and have held your licence for one year.

Road Rules and Petrol Stations

General Kuwait driving information, laws rules and regulations:

• Driving in Kuwait is on the right hand side of the road.

• When entering a roundabout a car must come to a complete stop, not just give way.

• Seat belts when driving a hire car in Kuwait are mandatory.

• The use of a mobile phone while driving is prohibited, with the exception of a hands-free system.

• Drivers are to carry at all times while driving, a valid driver's licence, registration documents and insurance documents.

• Petrol stations in Kuwait generally open from 7am to 9pm with some stations in major cities and on the highway open 24 hours.

Tolls

There are currently no tolls in Kuwait.

Parking Information

Be careful when parking your Kuwait car hire as parking against black and yellow blocks painted on kerbstones and on pavements is illegal in Kuwait.

One-Way Car Hire

Domestic one-way car hire within Kuwait is possible. Some restrictions do apply. International one-way car hire is not permitted.
