Driving Licence Requirements

The driving licence requirements in North Macedonia state that you must be at least 18 years old and have a full driving licence that is valid in your country of residence.

Age Restrictions

You must be at least 25 years of age to drive a hire car in North Macedonia and hold a full UK driving license. There will be some vehicles available for people 21-25 years, you must check this before you book your car hire in Skopje.

• You will find Leaded, Super Petrol, Unleaded, Diesel, Euro Diesel and LPG at North Macedonia petrol stations. It is easier to carry the local currency in cash as not all cards are accepted.

Tolls

All the motorways in North Macedonia are toll roads and use a ticket system. You take a ticket at the beginning of your destination then hand it to the North Macedonia toll inspector at your exit and pay the amount equal to the distance travelled.

People in North Macedonia park anywhere and everywhere. Even in the middle of the road, so be careful where you park and make sure it is somewhere safe where your valuables are not on display.
