Driving Licence Requirements

The driving licence requirements in Zimbabwe state that you must have a full driving licence that is valid in your country of residence. It is also advised to have an international driver's license when travelling in Victoria Falls and other places in Zimbabwe..

Age Restrictions

To hire a car in Zimbabwe you must be at least 22 years old (age may vary by the car hire category) and have held your license for one year.

• Gweru to Bulawayo - 167kms (3hours)

• Harare to Mutare - 255kms (4hours/15mins)

Road Rules and Petrol Stations

General Zimbabwe driving information, laws rules and regulations:

• Driving in Zimbabwe is on the left hand side of the road.

• Seat belts when driving a hire car in Zimbabwe are mandatory.

• Drivers are to carry at all times while driving, a valid driver’s licence, registration documents and insurance documents.

• Petrol stations in Zimbabwe are easily found in the main cities and towns. However in more remote areas they are not.

Tolls

You will come across Zimbabwe tolls along major roads, the fees range from $1 - $5. It is best to carry some change with you when driving in Harare.

Parking Information

You will not have any problems finding places to park your car in Zimbabwe. Check with your hotel before you book as most will have free parking available or be able to provide you with Zimbabwe parking information.

One-Way Car Hire

Domestic one-way car hire within Zimbabwe is possible. Some restrictions and charges do apply. International one-way car hire is not permitted.
