" We were a bit confused with the pick up instructions but after calling the company's number, we were told to go outside and wait at a bus stop for a minibus to pick us up. It was convenient and we only waited less than 10 mins. When we got to the office, the lady who dealt with us was efficient but not that welcoming or friendly. Might be because of it was later in the day (around 8pm). We then went to the rental car, the multi storey car park was not very lit. We took a vid of the car both inside and out for any damage. The car was OK but not very well looked after. The next morning in the day light, I was horrified to find a used surgical mask in a gap between the passenger seat and the hand brake! We were in the middle of the Covid-19 outbreak! It was disgusting!! I had to clean the whole interior of the car with disinfectant! I also took a few photos of what I found and the state of the car in daylight. Just appalling! Never again we will use Eastcoast! "

" The vehicle was unpleasant to drive. It has covered 95,000 miles and the gearbox is terrible. We had not used East Coast before. We felt it had not been made clearer to us that we needed to phone you on landing in Cairns to arrange a pick up service. We expected you to be inside the airport. We have also used AVIS, Enterprise and Alamo whilst in Australia and we have preferred thwir processes. Although staff were efficient and friendly, the process isn't as good as the vehicle was poor, so we would default to another provider first in future. "

" Vehicle, registered in QLD not SA, had almost 100,000kms on the clock, worn/torn carpet in driver's footwell, lots of minor scratches and scrapes and an annoying dashboard rattle at speeds over 80kph. The gear change and clutch were stiff not as one would expect from a Hyundai. When returning the car I mentioned these matters to counter staff and was told 'it's a rental - they get mistreated and anyway you're not paying Hertz prices!' The return shuttle to the airport was a farce! We waited for 20 minutes for 2 minbus renters to go and refuel their vehicles to avoid the refueling surcharge. We could have been dropped at the airport and the shuttle back at base while staff were 'faffing' around like headless chickens. We have always used Atlas thru Economy Car Rentals in the past and they have never let us down. We will go back to them next time. "

" we was late arriving to pick the car up due to our flight being delayed. But on arrival at east coast rentals it wasn't ready and had to wait another half an hour whilst they cleaned it. One of the team checked the car over with us and showed us the address to return the car to on the reverse side of the check sheet and not to bring it back to the pick up point. On arrival at the drop of point there was nobody there. We called the number on our documents and was advised this closed at 12 noon on a Saturday and they couldn't understand why they had told us to take it there we needed to take it back to the pick up point, which was another 15 min drive. We asked the woman at the call centre to advise the office that we was on our way as we had a plane to catch and therefore had a further delay making us very anxious. On arrival the person was there who had told us where to drop the car off he chuckled and said "who told you to go there" I reminded him it was HIM. Very disrespectful with no apology from any of the staff. We was very dissatisfied with the service and won't be using them again. "

The counter staff was helpful but the handover staff not at all.... they didn't seem bothered. The location was also not ideal as it was not easy to access.... "

" This feedback is solely directed to the company Auto Europe, and not East Coast Cars. Auto europe provides a completely unacceptable service and unreasonable attitude towards its customers. The staff provide conflicting information and advice, and an unwillingness to help resolve issues. If you cannot 100% guarantee your travel plans will run on time, such as delayed flights, DO NOT book with Auto Europe as they will leave you stranded in another country and WILL NOT make an effort to help you. They will then likely quote their terms and conditions at you about not giving a refund, when you ask only to pick up the car you booked and paid for one day later. It will result in you paying twice for your hire car, and working up international phone call bills as you try to speak to someone who will only tell you something different than the last person. They are even unwilling to let customers talk to a manager. I have tried to make a formal complaint, yet have not had any response or even acknowledgement in 10 days. My experience with Auto Europe ruined my holiday plans and made me use my holiday money to pay twice for the car I booked through them. DO NOT use this company, it's not worth booking through them as it will only cost you more money - book direct with a hire car company. "

We had to wait for about 1.5 hours, which is not what you want after a long flight. This is despite the company having our flight details and arrival time well in advance. " The actual rental location is too far from the airport. With waiting time for the transfer plus over 20 min journey time in traffic, it took over half an hour to reach it. Same for drop off. Also, I have never had a rental car with so much damage on the outside and there were several stains on the interior upholstery "

" Cheap....and you can tell! The cars are old and not in good condition at all. The car I got had scratches and chips all over it and the inside was not cleaned to a very high standard. The staff were great though. Very efficient and got us on our way quickly both at pick up and drop off. "

" they were pretty good though I was disappointed to have to use a shuttle service which is something I always try to avoid - my fault for not reading the voucher though, not yours or theirs. I felt it excessive that the stated fee for managing any tickets etc is $110 (I hope this isn't pit to the test!) but the service was courteous and efficient and it was a nice vehicle so all good. "
