" I have been renting from AutoEurope for years and it has mostly been a great experience. But lately, not so. Even putting aside the huge problems with this rental, the AE website is also a problem now. It gives you prices that are NEVER the actual price. When you click on "Find a Location" not a single one of the locations has the advertised price. This has happened to me on my last two rentals and consequently I spend hours clicking through looking for an actual price that matches the first price shown. Further, the website is glitchy in that once you click one location and don't like the price, you can't just click a different location - you have to go all the way back to the start and begin again. It's a ridiculous and annoying waste of time. "
" It was the worst car hire experience I've ever had. 1. the directions to the car hire (given on a document sent by Enterprise) were wrong. I was not the only customer who arrived late after getting lost. 2. the phone number Enterprise put on the above document was not in service, so I could not phone for directions. 3. I arrived to find a huge queue that went out the door and a zoo-like atmosphere. When I finally got to the front of the queue, I was asked for information about my arrival flight, which I was not warned of ahead of time. 4. When they finally finished processing me - which took at least 20 minutes, even though my car was pre-booked - I was told I'd have to wait while they checked to see if my car was there or at another office. 5. They didn't even begin to start checking where my car was - instead they processed four other people behind me in the queue, saying they had to check them in before they could find me a car because they were closing. I waited at least half an hour. I was not the only person in that situation. Several others were as well, and when we said politely that we needed our vehicles, we were told off by one of the employees, (I believe he was the manager) who said he didn't have to rent to us at all, and we should just be quiet. Then to me, he said "that's what you get for renting through a third party." 6. Three people who came in after me were given their cars first. When I pointed out that I was there before them, the same employee said "that's what you get for only renting a Corsa." I was made to feel like I was discriminated against for not being able to afford an expensive car. 7. So many people were complaining, one of the other employees kept telling us "everyone please calm down." She wasn't rude, she was responding to the fact that people were getting upset because we were being treated so badly and the car hire office was so unprepared for any of us. 8. When I returned the car, the queue was even longer. There was no facility to drop the keys, so I had to wait again. I took half an hour to drop the car. 9. A side note is that Enterprise does not include the London congestion charge in its price. Other downtown car hires do. Yes, it did say on the T's and C's that you get after you choose that car on the website that you will have to pay for the congestion charge, but that is revealed by the time you've already committed to it. It's an extra £15 and a pain, because you have to get on the TFL website (frequently out of service) and pay it yourself. Most car hire companies just bake it into the price they quote and take care of it for you. Enterprise is disingenuous, tricking you into thinking you're getting a deal, until you discover this hidden charge. "

" Collected car - this took a ridiculous amount of time. Landed at midday at Stansted and did not drive away until 1.30pm! Drove car one way to Greatford village, parked it in a secure gated driveway all week and drove it back to airport on Friday 13th. Now being told I will be charged £325 plus admin fees for a so called tyre rupture that I apparently caused! Said rupture, more like a nick was 1cm long and 1mm deep and there is no proof that this was caused by me. I was told to check the car on collection and told to look for scratches and dents. I highlighted marks on the hub cab and was told those were irrelevant and not to worry about those. At NO POINT did anyone tell me to look for 1cm nicks in a tyre! I will NEVER use Enterprise again "

" My message to Enterprise below; (no reply yet) ENTERPRISE reservation number 2060556873 I arrived late at the car rental village, due to EasyJet flight delay, BFS-STN 31 May, EZY43. Scheduled ETA 21:15, actual ETA 22:15. The shuttle bus took me to the rental village, but it was closed, bus driver thought somebody should be there. I called the rental desk 3 times between 18:15 and 18:30 and left a voicemail, and emailed to advise of the delay, but nobody responded. Net result was because of being marooned at STN, I had to book at hotel room at STN to pick the car up the next day. Cost to me, £178.00 hotel at STN and no show fee at original hotel £145.00, total £323.00. Car Hire fee £114.00! Young lady who met me following day was pleasant enough and said that while they couldn't refund the car hire, as it was booked through autoeurope, they could do something in terms of compensation. When I returned the car, her manager advised there was absolutely nothing they could do in regard to refunding any of the car hire fee. I felt that I should have been refunded the whole fee, not only because of the significant out of pocket hotel accommodation costs I suffered, but also because I felt someone should have remained to meet delayed passengers. You had my flight details on the voucher, my voice mails and my email advising that also. Your terms and conditions clearly state; "For airport bookings - If you have included a flight number with your booking, a vehicle will be held until the flight has landed and cleared. If a flight delay results in your arrival after the branch closing time, a staff member will wait for the flight to land and clear. If the delay is in excess of 1 hour after the branch closing time, an out of hours fee may apply". Having had no help at the rental office in regard to at least refunding my hire fee, (which would still leave me out of pocket), I write this to you for your consideration and await your reply. "

In BRISTOL one waits 15 minutes to get a shuttle that drives for 10 minutes to the Rent a Car. So that is 30 minutes wasted. STAY AWAY FROM BRISTOL AIRPORT AT ALL COSTS. Same in Heathrow.... the car rental is 10 minutes shuttle away from the terminal and you wait 10 min on average... so here again its 20 minutes wasted. "

There should have been a more comprehensive document in the car apart from a picture of the basic controls. As mentioned a simple and friendly process for booking and returning the car. For me the ability to hire a car when over the age of 75 was gratifying as many others refused me. I hired the car for 3 weeks, added 2300 miles to the clock without an issue so proves retired persons are not all a liability! "

" I booked the attached car with you from St Pancras station. When I went to the car rental area, there was no Enterprise office there. I phoned auto Europe and I was patched through to the Enterprise office. Turns out it is at Baker Street, not st Pancras. The Enterprise office in st Pancras closed 2 years ago!! So I phoned back auto Europe and they said to take a taxi to the location and you would sort it out. As the traffic was incredibly bad, I took the tube to baker st (with all my bags) and finally had my car an hour later. So here are the issues: 1. I rented from st Pancras and wanted a car there. To travel 25 mins to get my car was not convenient or pleasant. 2. I bought a tube ticket costing £5.50. 3. I was delayed by an hour hence traffic out of London was way worse than it needed to be. So I am very disappointed in auto Europe to say the least. I need you to i) make sure the change is made on your system so no others have the same issue. ii) Reimburse me for the additional costs incurred iii) offer suitable compensation for the inconvenience and delays to my journey. I look forward to your response. "

" Most shocking & unpleasant experience with Enterprise! They failed my Identity Check which meant they couldn't release the car as arranged. I provided my UK driving license, 'freshly' generated Driving License Sharing Code, my current bank statement and Council Tax statement. None of them meant anything apparently as they only relied totally on their computer screen. No effort of phone calls being made to their software provider to check accuracy (or inaccuracy). I would ensure not to rent any cars from Enterprise, Alamo & National from now on unless their management could convince me that they have a reliable data software check which provide accuracy - and a 'back-up' plan carried out by human check for ID verification! As the result of being refused rental car from Enterprise, I managed to get one from their competitor right next door to them, and I PASSED the identity check from AVIS & Budget. "

" My original booking through Auto Europe was for Hertz. About 2 hours after making the booking AutoEurope phoned me to tell me Hertz weren't able to supply the car I was looking for. The agent asked me to phone Hertz, but the number he supplied was wrong and he did not reply to my email. I still cannot understand why I had to phone Hertz. Why couldn't AutoEurope deal with it? Instead I had a number of calls to Hertz and then finally again to AutoEurope who didn't know anything about the rejected booking. AutoEurope did sort out a new booking at the same price, but it didn't get sorted until after 11pm on the night before the booking. "

" Auto Europe's service delivery needs to be improved. Based on your Auto Europe voucher, we were asked to pick up the car at St Pancras Rail Station. When we arrived at St Pancras Rail Station we were told that Enterprise had shifted location to Marylebone Road. Due to the outdated information on your voucher we had to catch a cab to Enterprise Marylebone Road. We incurred cab fare of GBP14 and we are now asking that you reimburse us for the cab fare, a copy of the receipt as attached. As stated in your voucher, our rental included a Rail Station Surcharge of 17.5% of the rates [i.e. GBP635.58 (Rate) + GBP111.23 (Rail Station Surcharge) = GBP746.81 (Total)] Since we ended up renting from Enterprise Marylebone Road and NOT St Pancras Rail Station, kindly reimburse us for the Rail Station Surcharge of GBP111.23 as well. When we raised the issue of the wrongful levy of the Rail Station Surcharge with Enterprise Marylebone Road, we were told that Enterprise merely rented out the car and we had to raise the issue with Auto Europe who had collected the payment and in addition had not updated Enterprise's new address, resulting in us having expended our time and resources ($) going to the old address. Enterprise Marylebone Road also added that they had no knowledge of any Rail Station Surcharge charged by Auto Europe and any claims we seek will have to be addressed to Auto Europe. When we called up Auto Europe to raise the issue of the wrongful levy of the Rail Station Surcharge, your company gave us the run around and told us to claim the same from Enterprise Marylebone Road instead. We had to call both companies a couple of times thereafter and yet we did not receive a satisfactory reply to our complaint. Kindly expedite the refund of both items as claimed above "

The young lady was very good and efficient but there were too many customers for her alone to deal with. Just one extra colleague could have lessened the strain for her and the customers. We hired a Hyundai Tucson and the handbrake was very high and the centre "pod" situation made releasing the handbrake very difficult - eg for a hill start. Obviously this is a manufacturer issue but I have not encountered it before on this car (which we also hired in December 2018). Maybe ensure the handbrake is adjusted so it doesn't come so far up. "

" This is the second time I booked with AutoEurope and not given all the information upfront. This time, I booked the car for immediate pickup. The agent on the phone told me she can only book 2 hours ahead but that I can go to the pick up location as sometimes the rental companies can give the earlier, if it is ready. When I arrived at the car rental they clearly said that the car is ready but they CANNOT release it earlier because I booked with AutoEurope because it takes 2 hours for the booking confirmation to arrive. The agent should have told me that there is no chance of getting the car earlier and that if I need the car immediately, I should book directly with Enterprise. "

" On the one hand I was not provided with a car, which I can understand, can happen sometimes due to lack of availability. But it was a huge inconvenience caused to me. Auto Europe should compensate me with a free voucher for the future. What I don't understand is that Auto Europe had taken my money and are taking more than a week to refund my money back. This is not acceptable. I needed to call Enterprise/Auto Europe a number of times for getting the refund. These SLA's need to be redefined. In my opinion, Auto Europe should refund my money immediately and should also give me a coupon to use in the future for a free car hire to make up with the inconvenience caused to me that time. "

I would have just picked up the vehicle from another Enterprise car hire location to avoid the surcharge if the car I wanted was available at the time. " Auto Europe did not list all the requirements satisfactorily for the Enterprise hire. For instance, no mention was made of a £200 refundable deposit required by Enterprise. Enterprise required proof of my home address, which was also not on the Auto Europe notes, but I was eventually able to give these details from a Premier Inn receipt. With the Enterprise staff not really finding your notes clear, it took three quarters of an hour to complete all the paperwork making the hire three quarters of an hour later than booked. An altogether awkward experience. "

We were told that Enterprise didn't charge for scuffs to alloys so we didn't look that closely, and weren't told we could to re-check the car the next morning in daylight and report back any problems. When we returned the car, this time to Luton Airport, the damage was spotted and we were told we could be liable for £1,400 or 2 new tyres! On protest this was reduced to £200. I know we didn't cause this damage but its difficult to prove it if you don't do a forensic examination of the body work and tyres! "

When we got chatting and I explained my planned journey and mileage,he suggested upgrading from a petrol Astra to a diesel VW Passat at a cost of 49 odd pounds. Not only was it a more roomy car, but with all the luggage that I was going to have to carry,to my daughters wedding in the Lake District after my grandaughters christening in Milton Keynes.At the end of my rental I had driven just over 1100 miles at a fuel cost of about 130 pounds (GBP),which justified the cost of upgrading to the diesel Passat. "

" I have used Auto Europe a number of times in UK and France. A simple and efficient way to compare and get the best price for cars from leading rental companies. Auto Europe are able to provide significantly cheaper rates for one way drop offs, dropping cars off at different points to pick up. This is a massive benefit. Each time I have booked through AE I receive a notification advising that booking is under process and a confirmation email that a vehicle is available will be sent. Those emails never arrive. "

Their staff are extremely customer focused and helpful. The rates offered by Enterprise are always favourable to other rental Co's. use them regularly and I recommend them to all my friends without hesitation. "

" Everything was fine. but although I saw afterwards that they take £200 deposit off your card it was not obvious and I feel there should be clear indication of this when one books. It felt as though one was being used as a bank taking money out on day of hire, but not seeing it back till two days after finish of hire. "

" I was told that there was a £600 excess and that if there was a small scratch or dent when I returned the car then they would deduct the full amount. I was pressured into taking out the extra insurance for 8 days which cost me £106 extra. Queried this with Enterprise by email and told this was their policy. Returned the car in good order. Felt ripped off. Will check terms of insurance first next time, will not use Enterprise. "
