There are four classes of SUV shown on your website: Compact, Intermediate, Standard & Full Size. Of these four, full size seems to be the largest, so I chose that, deliberately, but apparently your definition of "full size" does not translate to a large SUV...far from it. This is an appalling misrepresentation and as a result it was incredibly tight within the car, causing all sorts of stress. It's 100% false marketing and will be following-up if no one gets back to me based on this. "

" Not taking advantage of your customers would be a good start. I paid £550.54 / ~$1050AUD on 17.02.2024 to secure my booking of a "MG3 or Similar" vehicle. When I arrived to collect the car, I was told that there was no such vehicle available, so I would have to be "upgraded" to a larger vehicle. I was bombarded with information about excesses, charges, fees, and cars. None of this information was presented clearly, and when I asked for any kind of explanation, I was treated as though I were stupid. After a very arduous process of repeatedly seeking clarification and not receiving it, I gave in and agreed to pay an additional fee so that I could leave. Initially I was told it would be an additional $1100AUD, more than doubling what I had initially paid. After further unclear changes, it was put down to £936.98AUD / ~£490, which I paid at the desk. Forcing me to pay a ridiculous "upgrade" fee for a vehicle that I neither wanted nor booked is awful. It was not my fault that the vehicle that I'd hired was unavailable, and the fact that I was charged for it was shocking. Pressure sales tactics are clearly effective, and I absolutely was pressured into agreeing to these terms. On top of this, the car broke down near the end of my trip. I phoned the roadside assistance number that was provided to me, and I was unable to reach anyone. I also phoned the Europcar desk at Brisbane Airport, and the general Europcar Helpline, to repeatedly be palmed off from one person to another with no answer. It took my father phoning from the UK to supposedly get an engineer out to check the car. I was told at 19:00 that the engineer would be there by 20:30 at the latest. I waited a further hour, until 21:30, and there was no sign of them. I hadn't yet eaten, so I went back to my hotel room to order in. Numerous further phone calls revealed that the engineer arrived at around 22:00, and since I wasn't there, simply left. No attempt was made to contact me. Another callout was then arranged. I was told at 22:30 that they would then be with me by 23:30. I waited outside until 00:30, with no sign of any help. A lone female traveller sitting outside in the dark gone midnight, with nothing to show for it, wasn't really a great way to close off my holiday. On top of that, I could not complete the activities that I had planned for the following day since the car wasn't working. I took a chance on driving the car 2 days after the breakdown, only so that I could get it back to the airport to catch my flight home. I got lucky and the vehicle did make it back to Brisbane International, but I did not feel safe the entire journey. When I went to return the vehicle, there was nobody at the desk. There were a number of other rental companies nearby with staff members, and the Europcar desk was the only one without a member of staff. I have never been so dissatisfied by a company before, and I've never complained like this before either. The treatment that I received from start to finish was abysmal, and I will not allow this to go unreported. You need to do better. "

" Awful - would never use again. For context, my boyfriend (the named driver) had his wallet stolen the day before we're were due to fly from uk to Australia for 6 months. I rang auto Europe to assess what we needed to do re picking up the car given the named drivers physical licence had been stolen in his wallet. It was an extremely stressful 24 hours (as we also had all of our bank cards and travel money taken) and the man I spoke to at auto Europe was the most unhelpful, inconsiderate person I have ever dealt with. He informed me that there was nothing to be done and that we would need to cancel the booking, losing all of our money. I asked to be put on as the named driver instead, asking for some sympathy given the circumstances but was told that given it was less than 48 hours until car pick up, we couldn't change the named driver. He was extremely forceful about telling me I needed to cancel the booking as we would not be able to pick up the car, to the point where I had to shout down the phone at him and tell him under no circumstances to cancel the booking as I refused to believe there was nothing that could be done and that we just had to loose all our money. Funnily enough, I rang Europcar at Brisbane airport directly and explained the situation. They were extremely helpful and told us to not worry, turn up after our flight and they would see what they could do. We arrived and they happily and with ease changed the named driver on the booking, for no fee and then also added my boyfriend on as an additional driver when his new licence arrived. Again, not charging us the full fees for this and showing some sympathy in the circumstances. All of this goes to show that auto Europe were only concerned in keeping our money and have no interest in helping customers. Disgraceful service. "

" Booking via Autoeurope was good and found a competitive price for two weeks car rental. I received the Europcar voucher for a Hyundai i30 or similar. On collection I was given an MG XS, a lesser car in poor condition. I was told this was an upgrade despite being a much more inferior vehicle. The car provided had numerous warning lights on and during the rental exceeded its next service interval. On returning the car, the Europcar colleague agreed that the MG XS is not an upgrade to the i30 and is a very poor car, especially for a two week rental when covering significant mileage. "

I eventually went to the information counter at the Sydney Airport to enquire why Europecar was unmanned and they advised that it should be manned. A call was made by the Information staff and lone behold a person was available and opened the counter. The next issue was that there was only one person, all your competition had two people manning the desks. It took 30 minutes to process my vehicle pickup. I arrived around 7am and it took three hours before I got a car. The poor customers behind me who were 5 deep had a very long wait. "

Took some time to work out how the mechanics of the car worked...never easy when it is dark. Only realised once I got going that the tank was NOT full and only 3/4 full but too late to do anything about it once I had left. In the daylight the car wasn't very clean... empty pop bottle found under driver's seat and just generally not clean in the interior. The boot stopped opening after a few days which wasn't great but not worth the inconvenience of reporting. Which after we drove off, turned out to be faulty! I complained and the counter staff reduced the price to what I had been quoted The car itself was clean and there were no problems in returning it However, when I received the invoice for the GPS charges, they have processed it on the wrong card. I emailed customer services a week ago to advise this and ask them to process an alternative payment method (specialist currency card) and they haven't bothered to reply I specifically told the counter staff which card this was to be processed on, this is just utterly bad service Will try to avoid using this company in future, as it doesn't just seem to be local counter staff that are incompetent, not to receive a reply from customer services is appalling "

" Overall impressed with Autoeurope booking and communication e mails. The data capture by Europcar when collecting the car was a bit painful / slow. I realise that there are 2 companies involved but it wasn't as seamless operation as perhaps I was expecting. "
" There was a few people waiting in the queue to collect their cars. A couple of people were told that the car wasn't quite ready - perhaps a 15 minute wait. Our car was ready and waiting. The process of capturing my details took about 5 minutes. I said that I had provided a lot of detail to Autoeurope when I booked on line. They said they had to re - enter the details due to data protection. The biggest issue was that they tried to sell me more insurance to reduce the excess to zero. I said that I already had taken out more than the standard insurance. " An absolute disgrace that cars are being booked and paid in advance by customers but when customers arrive to collect the car, they are told there are none available and are then given a car from a lesser category all because Europcar have overbooked the cars. Surely when the customer is asked specifically when they will be arriving to collect the car, that car should be available for them? " Arrived at Perth airport to be told that the car I had booked and paid for was not available as they had overbooked this type of car. I ended up having to take a smaller model as this was the only type of car they had available. I asked the counter staff to inform me when the intermediate car would became available & was told Xmas day. So I had to give up 2 hours of my Xmas evening to head back to the airport to collect the car I should have received from day 1. " I was expecting the counter to be in the main terminal, I had to ring them and then walk at least 500 m in 35 degree heat with luggage after flying for 18 hours to domestic terminal, the staff tried to sell me upgrades which is not welcome when tired. I was told the vehicle was in perfect condition, it was not several scratches and scuffs. Not clear where to drop keys on return I was told the counter would be staffed at 6am it was not. Very complacent need to remember people have traveled for long periods of time from different climates and are tired, stop trying to sell upgrades "

We couldn't get all the luggage in boot, it was a much lower spec than the X-trail. The parking lot is undercover and we had to use the torch on our phone to check the car, glad we did as one of the alloys was scuffed. The staff weren't aware of this and if we hadn't spotted it, we could have been charged on our return. Am now wary of booking a category of car and not getting it. "

I suspect that booking through your agency deters companies from spurious allegations as it would quickly become apparent if one company reported an out of the ordinary number of increased extra charges etc "
" The young lady working on her own at pick up but with no other customers gave no eye contact and spoke down to her computer keyboard. As a result the combination of my age-related presbycusis and the background noise made communication difficult when it needn't have been. Having said that, the rest of the experience was hassle-free as it had been with Europcar in Auckland the previous 3 days. In both cases, the cars had some minor paint damage which had not been mentioned at pick-up. The cars both in Auckland and Brisbane were collected from a dark outdoor car park and the scrapes were only apparent the following day. This didn't bother me but having had problems with cheaper Portuguese car hire companies in the past claiming old blemishes were new I was a little concerned. (Fortunately on the two occasions when this has come up I had collected the cars in daylight and photographed them comprehensively) Anyway, the drop off was keys into a box and I received an email from Europcar without comment and I would use them again. " First impression count and the lady that served me in Sydney Airport was unfriendly. The car was fine although I was under the impression that a Hyundai i20 or Golf would be available. I had to pay extra for the sat nav too which is way to expensive for the quality of the device rented. It was very poor. "

This is what I thought I had booked, only to discover that the booking made was for drop off in same city. I then had to phone to change it and the lady operator was very helpful but informed me that I would have to pay extra for the Sydney drop off at the time I collected the car from Melbourne. She amended the booking and sent me a new voucher with the correct details. I also purchased the additional insurance cover, however the Europcar office seemed unaware of this as they tried to sell it to me again. "
