" Initially there was a problem with the vehicle Europcar provided me. On the booking page it said I would receive a "Nissan Note or similar", but they actually provided me with a massive, totally inappropriate 7-seater (for 2 people) that was far too large, as the property we were staying at was down a very narrow lane with the entrance at an acute angle; manageable only with a small vehicle. I asked immediately for a downgrade to a smaller vehicle, but the staff-member said they could not do that. (He never explained why.)Thus for two days we were burdened by a totally inappropriate vehicle, and I was not a happy customer as it was spoiling our holiday. However, I then emailed Europcar's manager at Kalamata explaining again the situation, and received a very apologetic reply, assuring me that yes, they would change the vehicle to something more appropriate to my booking request. This they did promptly and without any further fuss, and provided me with a lovely, virtually new Opel Corsa which was a delight to drive (the previous sliding side-door 7 seater had an appalling gear-box). This redeemed Europcar in my estimation; so that instead of rating them at around 3, I'm happy to raise it to an 8! "

" I was very disappointed to be told that I could no longer cancel my rental as we had entered the 48h period. A full lockdown was announced for northern Greece that morning and I would not be allowed to travel as movement outside the metropolitan area was no longer allowed. Regardless I was told by staff at Auto europe that a cancellation was not longer possible. "

However I was not allowed to cancel within 45 hours of my rental as I was told the 48 hour period had passed. " When we collected the car, we had to wait about 15 minutes before it was available. I had the impression that they couldn't locate the car and were desperately trying to find another. When one finally arrived it had numerous scratches and scrapes - it wasn't in great condition. It had 87,000 kilometres on the clock, which is a lot more than I would expect on a hire car from a front line company. The washer bottle didn't work - I thought it had no water so refilled it and it still didn't work. When I opened the bonnet I could not prop it open as there was no bonnet support. It was difficult holding the bonnet and refilling the washer bottle at the same time. Also, the inside of the windscreen was not very clean which made visibility difficult when the sun was shining. "

" Auto Europe web site did state car collection was from inside the airport.. actually its off site and you have to call Europcar to come and collect you from the departure area of the main terminal "
