" Worked out great this time. No queues first thing in the morning. Quick and efficient pickup with absolutely no pressure to buy additional insurance. 45000km vehicle with a number of undocumented minor scratches and dings. There's no one around to acknowledge and sign off on any existing damage so make sure to inspect carefully and get plenty of photos. Return was quick and efficient. I was a bit concerned about the prior damage but none of it was noticed during the return inspection. I guess they must have a pretty high damage threshold. Toll charges appeared on my credit card a few days after the return for exactly the amount I had expected. The overall cost was a bit more expensive than the off airport alternatives but the premium is fair for the location, convenience and time savings. "

" Car was good to drive , but pick up experience was the worst I have ever experienced in my life. Lots of other people also complaining at the desk too due to 3 hour wait times to pick up car. Girl at the desk said that they did not have enough cars or at least return cars were being cleaned and sent out immediately hence no held car stock , basically long wait for old car return, clean and eventual pick up. Not the counter girls fault , she was great in handling the queue of dissatisfied clients. Problem was with back end supply and turn around of vehicles causing huge delays. Fix that and I'm happy again and may return !!! "

" If rental companies can get away with these tactics autoeurope will have to rethink about the rational for competing with them. What happened was manageable because I could pay the difference, but this could have had far more serious consequences, and at the end of the day I bought the service from autoeurope. "
" The first impact was me and my family arriving to the pick up 4 hours after the time we'd included on the reservation and being told we'd lost our reservation. Then the staff told us that because we booked via autoeurope we only had 2 hours to collect the vehicle (I was shocked as I dis not read this in any step of the booking process and have never heard a similar clause with any of the other rental companies). I then asked for an alternative and said I was ok to pay a bit extra if required to be able to have a vehicle. The staff proposed a vehicle that costed an additional £1000 and I asked for anything cheaper. They did find another vehicle that was an additional £600 which I had no other option than accepting. It felt like entrapment and extortion, and Hertz clearly hasn't realised that they will only do this once and that no customer will return. I will be weary of making more bookings via autoeurope until I have more clarity on how rental companies can behave like this. The vehicle was poorly cleaned with sunscreen stains on the dashboard and seats, and one of the tyres was a bit low. Not what you expect when you are forced to pay £170/day for a car, no matter how fancy it is. "

On the pick up, informed girl she said sorry had just come from hertz. She would put on notes, I asked could I have a email confirming she said not to worry on the notes guy in same depo informed me at 5pm on same day it was and not to worry. Kept same car on new higher on 19th car had more petrol in tank, as girl on 19th about notes she said all on not to worry. Went to drop off on 29th October guy tells me no notes on system after about 30 mins they say sorted and I will not get charged for not bring back full or no parcel tray. I assume still the same. I also asked why firefly had charged me £4.78 they posted on 21st October but shows 10th October??? What is this for. "

They should have charged only the 12.92 Euros plus the toll fees. I'm disputing this transaction with my credit card company. "

" First complaint is that directions to pick up office are dreadful and unclear. We spent 40 minutes trying to locate office. I purchased the car hire from the UK. The deal included a free additional driver. I paid in full using my credit card and it was fine. Upon arrival at pick up we had a problem. I named the main driver as my daughters boyfriend who would be responsible for all driving and my husband as additional driver. The problem encountered was that the main driver did not have a credit card, we knew this was a requirement but we thought it could be easily resolved by using additional drivers credit card. This was apparently true but it negates the free additional driver. We were told we needed to purchase the additional driver cost to enable this to happen. I explained to the member of staff that it was included free with the original purchase. This person was very unhelpful and said there was no other way he could complete the transaction. I explained the additional driver would only drive 1 day out of the 7 days hire, he would not listen. I asked if he could look for a solution to the problem but he was dismissive and in helpful. At the time of pick up the main driver was not present. We explained that he was enroute and would arrive before completion of transaction. However, it appeared that your member of staff was not really concerned regarding v seeing the main driver only concerned with getting additional monies from us. I am perplexed that it was ok to hand the car over to the additional driver who had credit card and made the necessary hold payment but nothing could be sorted to wave the additional driver fee we were charged. The counter person was totally unhelpful in every way and I am really disappointed with the treatment we received by this person. Additional to this I booked a Nissan Juke car costing £158. We were given a Renault Clio which is not like for like and is also listed cheaper on website. "

I tried to phone Firefly to ask whether they had found it and nobody replied. Therefore I had to return to their Office and ask the young lady if they had found it. She was an keyed and irritated that I had interrupted their reverie and muttered that she would have to look for the key! She came with me to the car and gave a brief look and said it's not here and 'in any case it's going to Lisbon now'.
