" The collection through Hertz at Edinburgh Airport was a nightmare with a queue of 12 people ahead of me. Significantly the lines at all the other Rental Companies were much lighter, two or three at the most. The queue moved slowly and it took an hour to get to the desk. Naturally I had all my paperwork ready and having carefully perused it the lady said that I had failed the Security Test -first I had I ever heard of this in my long career of hiring cars - and she could not therefore rent the car to me. When I asked in what way I had failed the test she said she was not allowed to tell me! I told her I had pre paid the rental and the Company had had plenty of time to check my details. I then told her I would escalate my situation to Hertz management and she therefore asked her next desk colleague for a second opinion. Magically whatever the problem was disappeared and the process then proceeded smoothly. I had a note from Hertz asking me for a review and I replied along the lines I have just done to you. They responded saying that they would call me within 72 hours to discuss the complaint. 76 hours on I am still waiting. "

" We booked online , and on arrival were told that the driver must be the same as the person whose name is on the credit card that was used for payment , this is required for the insurance. As that person who had paid had no driving licence we were obliged to pay a new insurance plus the cost of a second driver. This almost doubled the price of the rental. The staff although professional and courtious in their work were unable to re book the rental on the card of the new driver (and refund or cancel the initial booking). We found this particularly inconveneient. "

He told me that I would have to pay three times as much and that I would have to pay an additional fee for the sat nav. I arrived at desk at 00.10 and the staff had gone as they did not have flight details. If they had received this info even incorrect they would have waited because the only flight into East Midlands that day was the Ryanair one and they would have recognised the flight number. The result was a £72 taxi fare and had to rent a car the following day from Sheffield. Your comments would be appreciated. P J Gilbert "

" Being offered a car with faulty seat belts is a very concerning matter. Had I not noticed this at the pick up point myself and had we been involved in an accident we would have been in serious trouble with the law. The rental companies failure to properly check all of the safety features of their cars puts peoples lives at risk! "
" The boot of first car offered was not large enough to hold one large suitcase and two smaller bags. Further the vehicle was not fitted with a Sat Nave system! However, the agent offered to supply one for £20 per day! The car was rented for 10 days and the charge for the sat nav hire would have been £200, almost as much as the car hire cost! A Tom Tom system can be bought in Halfords for as little as £70.00!! Also one of the three rear sat belts was broken making the vehicle unfit for use on the road. The replacement vehicle however was very acceptable. "

" I would recommend almost everything apart from the pick up which was so awful I probably wont use firefly again, the Hertz office was disappointing in efficiency. I would be even more disappointed if I had paid a premium and booked direct with Hertz. The best thing was the price and if you dont mind waiting then Firefly is good. "
