" Everything was bad and continues to be bad. Firstly a long queue in the hot sun for the courtesy bus at Florence airport. Secondly the two hour queue at the Drivalia desk to collect keys. Thirdly the condition of the vehicle, so many nicks and scratches that it wasn't worth taking photos. Fourthly the fuel tank was not full - it showed 350km in the tank. The two hour queue meant there was no point going back to the desk .. we had had enough and just wanted to get away. The return was worse. Drivalia office locked. Designated Drivalia parking spaces overflowing. No Drivalia staff to help. A return visit to the Drivalia pick up desk showed a massive queue. We had no choice other than to abandon the vehicle in a parking spot for another rental company. We emailed Drivalia to let them know where the vehicle was and to emphasise that we returned the vehicle with more fuel (400km) than on departure. The only response we have received to date is an invoice for fuel plus surcharge and a scratch to the vehicle totalling 450 euro. We have disputed the fuel charge and asked for a photo of the damage so that we can claim on our insurance but we have had no response. "

" Auto Europe didn't ensure that the partner site I used to book (CarRentals.co.uk ) has the correct information, said it was an in-terminal pick up - it was not, never has been, the Florence car hire area is a 20 minute bus wait, then 5 minute drive so circa 25 minutes away. Taking disembarking, passport control etc. into account, there was no way I was ever going to make this booking from a 22:30 landing! so it should not have been allowed to be booked! I had major stress trying to find somewhere to stay - ringing multiple hotels around midnight trying to get in somewhere due to the car hire office being closed. My second flight was late, and I then found the 'in terminal pickup" was a shuttle bus away so I arrived late to find office closed, I was stranded at the car hire pickup point, no shuttle bus, no taxi, no hotel - as my booked hotel was 45 minutes away south. I spent 30 minutes at midnight ringing around hotels, at one point it looked like I'd be sleeping in the pick up location car park! - I finally got one and had to walk 15 minutes with luggage and pay 80 Euros extra, despite having a hotel paid for that I could not get to. I can't say as I'm overwhelmed with positive feelings towards Auto Europe/Keddy/Europcar as it would seem my cash was more important than my experience or welfare! Change in Car Type Without Notice Upon arrival at your office, I was informed that my reserved small compact petrol car was substituted for a large diesel vehicle, without any prior notice or consultation. Inconvenient and Illogical Pick-Up Process To add to the frustration, the car pick-up location was a 15-minute walk from the office, requiring me to carry two pieces of luggage across streets--an unreasonable inconvenience for a rental service. What is typically standard practice--providing car pick-up at the store or arranging transport for customers--was not adhered to. Having to walk this distance both ways was entirely unnecessary and reflective of poor customer consideration. 3. Lack of Support at the Pick-Up Point Upon reaching the pick-up location, the staff there made it clear that they were not responsible for rental issues, leaving me unable to raise my concern about the inappropriate vehicle substitution. This lack of accountability and cohesion within your team was frustrating and unacceptable. 4. Poorly Maintained Vehicle The car I was issued was severely under-maintained: It was delivered without sufficient AdBlue, critical for a diesel vehicle. After driving only 200km, the car displayed a warning that it could not start within 200km without a refill. The staff at Europe Car VIA BORGO OGNISSANTI office were very apologetic about this, but we should have been told about this with our booking. By the time we got in the car to face the Florentine traffic (!) our stress levels were already unnecessarily high! " An astoundingly badly run business. Our flight was delayed so we were going to arrive post 20.00hrs. endless calls to the office (pre,20.00hrs) all unanswered. The result of this being I had to hire another car (from one of the many operators who were still open!) for one day as I had to get to where we were staying some 2hrs away. I telephoned the following morning (Sunday) and eventually got an answer. I explained I was en route to collect and was everything still okay with the hire. Yes I was told. When I had worked out that the shuttle was in fact ParkingGo and not Rental plus (this could be made much clearer in your correspondence and vehicle signage) I made many further unanswered calls to arrange collection. None of which were answered. On arrival at an industrial wasteland and waiting c. 90mins to be seen, I was told that "as I hadn't arrived the night before, I'd been treated as a no-show and the car was no longer available. This is despite having been told all was well earlier that day. After approximately 5hrs I was provided with a car. Only one member of staff was on duty at Europcar and she was inundated with dealing with a very awkward family - this took over half an hour to resolve, On returning the car on Saturday 8 June, the office for Europcar in the car park was closed but three members of staff were dealing with cars and instructed me to put the key in the drop box outside the closed office. I was then shocked to find, when I received the invoice, that I was being charged for an extra day's hire to Sunday 9th June. I queried this immediately by contacting customer service with your form and been informed by email today that the charge will be refunded. This leaves me feeling concerned about the processes and the instructions being given by your staff. "

" The whole car rental set up at Florence airport is chaotic - not just with Leasys - the car rental parking area (used by all firms) was too small so numerous rental cars were effectively abandoned on the roadways making driving v difficult especially with most drivers having quickly to adjust to LHD, an unfamiliar car etc. The car allocated to me was absolutely brand new and had only 1-2 miles of fuel in it and also no manual on how to operate the car/satnav etc - so I had no choice but to brave driving immediately into v busy city traffic to try and find fuel before the car ran out. The Leasys lady was keen to stress it was a free upgrade but they had no car at the range I sought. There was no system of returning a car - no one did a visual inspection of it, nor checked the mileage nor even bothered to ask where I'd left it, indeed they were surprised and pleased when I told them. I have never seen anything so shambolic in my life and await seeing if I get my 800 euro ! deposit back from these people. Obviously I took plenty of photos to show that the car was undamaged and had more fuel than when I collected it (not difficult) in case this turns into an issue. "

I had a printout of our voucher - maybe bigger text of what to do if you are late might help? FYI - the person we did eventually speak to was VERY good and re-booked another car for us. We eventually got it to an adjacent car park but this was not good enough and they insisted we bring it to the right one. It was a case of it being parked behind the offices instead of in front. It was a one way system so returning the car was incredibly stressful. I did not feel they helped the situation and our flight was getting closer and closer. We had set off in plenty of time. " I knew that Thrifty represented value for money but this was more like Rent-a-Wreck. Our car had a panel missing between the hood and the windscreen, a dent in the front left fender, a scratch on the right rear wheel arch, no aerial and had over 20,000 klms on the clock. We waited for 30 minutes for the shuttle from the airport to the car hire venue and another hour to pick up the car as there was only one customer service assistant on duty. Car drop off was complete guesswork with no guidance or signage. Frankly I'd rather pay more. This was poor beyond my expectations and I won't use this service again. It was so much better last time - I really am disappointed and feel badly let down. "

" Within 10 miles of collecting the car we had an oil warning light and a tyre pressure light come on. Because of the nightmare collection/waiting time we continued with our journey. I called several times for advise, but to no avail. I ended up taking the car into a local garage, they checked the tyre and oil. The tyre had been badly repaired and was leaking from this poor workmanship. The oil was checked and the mechanics report said it desperately required an oil change as it was thick and dirty (inferred it had never been changed!). We also had the aircon checked as every time this was switched on the smell was horrendous (like bad cheese/milk!) - once again this was assumed to have never been serviced! "

I do appreciate that we were asked to bring it back with a full tank but Florence is very busy and it was not easy to find the hire centre coming back so we decided we would head straight there and pay the difference (I was assuming 30 euros would be reasonable as 71 euros would fill the tank completely). Disappointing end to what was in all a good service and let the company down. "

" We suffered a double puncture and the car was rescued. Unfortunately whilst we collected from the airport at Florence we were staying in Cortona. The replacement car had to be collected from Florence so we had to catch a train back, which wasted a day of our holiday. we incurred costs of train fare and taxi. Further more we had to pay a penalty of 50 Euros for the failure to fill a quarter of the tanks fuel worth about 20 Euros/ I shall be submitting receipts to claim from the insurance that I took out with you when placing my booking. I did take out the extra insurance with InterRent of 32 Euros per day to cover any accidental costs. Whilst expensive it did save me the inconvenience of paying out larger sums and claiming back from Auto Europe insurance. "
