" Overall, adequate, I paid for the extra drivers insurance cover so avoided the much criticized insurance push, but fell foul of the after hours service charge. I will be more cautious about booking next time. "
" Not happy about the out of hours admin charge levied by Europcar office, this was not made clear at point of sale, only appearing in contract small print. The fee charged was more than the contract amount, but either way was excessive as a percentage of the hire charges. The car provided was tatty, had 40,000km recorded, and covered in bodywork and wheel defects. The interior was dusty and jaded. Plastic trim was loose in the boot (I fitted it back myself before returning the car). It made me very nervous suspecting claims for damage on drop off of the vehicle, I had to take more than twenty photos to document the existing condition at time of pickup (in the dark it was obvious the car was covered in scrapes, chips and scratches. However upon returning the car the member of staff was efficient and polite, explaining that we were intended to be the last customer for this car as it was scheduled for disposal. I am not a fussy customer, so the car worked out suitable, but the additional admin charge spoiled my start on holiday, and not what you would expect from a front line service provider. Flight times are not always predictable and fines on top of delays are not welcome. "

" Absolutely awful service from Keddy/Europcar. Loads of administration time taken chasing a refund and still no resolution after 10 weeks. The returns staff were dishonest in their dealings with me and falsified the claim and documents. To date my photographic evidence has not even been acknowledged. Worst service I have encountered in over 50 years of hiring vehicles extensively throughout the world. "
" Nobody was available to agree pick up damage. I was told to take photographs. Rental was uneventful and when returning everything was agreed verbally to be in order. No mention of any perceived damage or charges. Despite everything being okay a charge was made to my credit card greater than the cost of the rental for a week without any invoice or billing. When queried through Auto Europe they sent a Declaration of Return that had been falsified to say damage had been incurred during my rental and pictures of a scratch which was much smaller than their minimum size of 2cm. This scratch existed when I collected the car and I had taken a timed and dated photo on collection (as instructed by them!). This irrefutable photographic evidence was submitted to them through Auto Europe. To date (6th May 2025) no further response has been received. Awful and illegal service "

" Experience at the pickup desk was very poor indeed. I have never encountered such a laborious process in more than two decades of hiring rental cars. After waiting at least 20 mins in the queue (of about three other customers). The difficulty all seemed to hinge on us not having accepted the "optional" insurance cover, which meant (according to the desk man) that we had to wait "up to 15 minutes" to receive a confirmation email about the rental; despite having brought all our printed out documentation with us. We waited patiently (if slightly bemused) for more than 15 mins for the email to arrive, then asked the man where it had got to. It turns out he hadn't even sent the email in the meantime. He and gave the excuse that he had been very busy so had not had time to send it. Of course, as soon as he sent the email, it arrived and we were able to head off to pick up the car. What a ridiculous performance. I felt that I was being punished for not paying their insurance premium. A very bad way to start the holiday. Shame on you Hertz. "

" We ended up not picking up the car at all because even though we had additional insurance paid the Goldcar staff member in fuertavertura told us that this insurance cover ONLY accident on the main road, what is of course very unlikely. We choose to pay for extra insurance with autoeurope to avoid an unpleasant experience with gold car like my last time when they tried to charge me for scratches on the car already existed. So on the end gold car staff offer us 3 options pay additional £200 for their insurance or £1100 deposit +£140 deposit for fuel for fiat 500 with fuel tank 35l . We ended up leaving the office without car as everything looked way to bad. Never again will do this mistake to rent with goldcar. "

" Dollar was at the airport Hertz. They were very good . But for me , my only concern is they tell you that the car insurance you take out with Auto Europe is worthless . I took out the better insurance with Auto Europe aswell . So to be told to either put down £800 on your credit card or pay their insurance for £80 was a bit of a joke . But I took the £80 insurance cos last year when we booked with Auto Europe it took nearly two weeks for the £800 payment to be repaid on my credit card . When you are told it won't be taken off your card , just held . So I felt I had no choice but to pay their £80 insurance as I didn't need the worry of having to pay their insurance £800 before it was returned to me . So my advice is . If you're taking out a car hire don't do the insurance in this country cos it's just not worth it . "

" Rude drop off person. Rude when we parked up, rude about demanding a fuel receipt (tank was full and nobody told me I had to keep the fuel receipt) and accused us of damaging the car. Fortunately the excellent desk staff had told us to takea video of the car at pick up which saved the day. Drop off staff refused to apologise for the accusation and only begrudgingly accepted the truth when presented with the evidence. "

It would be great if Dollar were aware that I had already taken out collision damage waiver insurance with you as it took some time to explain this at the counter. It seems that at this day and age the car should come with GPS as it had everything else. It knew when the spead limit changed. It was a good car but the alarms were hard to deal with in the dark driving throuh a town. It was beeping because I was travelling slightly above the speed limit, but I was only keeping up with traffic. So an option to turn off the alarms or only have them beep once would be welcome. The rear passenger door would not work, but we worked around this for the week. the return was very efficient. "

The agent convinced us to upgrade our cover and we were told our car was changed to an SUV. However, on our drive to correlejo that evening, whilst having to negotiate driving in the dark on the right hand side of the road, we started having concerns because the car was difficult to put into gear and upon approaching roundabout's, the car would not change gears, causing the engine to falter , to our consternation. On our next attempt to use the vehicle it quickly became apparent there was a serious mechanical issue causing us to pull over as soon as we were able. We then tried to ring the number provided in our contract but nobody answered and answerphone message was in Spanish so we could not understand. After several attempts to contact Europcar but to no avail, we were forced to abandon our plans and drive back to the airport to make contact with an agent, with the car failing at several roundabouts during this journey. Upon arrival at the drop off at the airport, our first contact was with a Gold Car agent who recognised this car and knew it had problems. We are extremely unhappy that we were placed in a position of danger by being given an unsafe car. This is unacceptable as surely all cars should be thoroughly serviced and inspected after each rental? We would like this to be taken seriously with an appropriate response "

" Poor collection processs and instructions. Had difficulty finding the shuttle bus to from airport to GoByCar offices, as printed instructions on voucher were rubbish. Had to raise a call with the office to eventually get better instructions. Final drop off shuttle bus from GoByCar offices to airport was unnecessarily slow, almost 30 hour lag time. I have taken many holiday car rentals, and this was honestly worst experience. "

" Your suppliers are working against you, no matter what level of insurance I buy via Auto-Europe, the rental desk staff argue and try to force you into buying more expensive insurance, sometimes even costing more than the rental itself! Its much less painful whenever I have booked direct with the company. "

The car we were given had lots of damage dints scratches scrapes ect thankfully I took at least 20 pictures of all the damage as anticipated maybe an attempt to try to blame us after we hadn't taken their add on. We were correct as on return the lady checking the car homed right in on the smallest of scratches.Thankfulky I had photos which clearly showed this scratch was there so was done before we took possession of the car. We felt that this was just an attempt to scam us and get us to pay for something we had nothing to do with on a car that already had damage. Awful and I feel sorry for others who may not have the evidence to prove their innocence, "

" Shocking hard sell tactics to take out extra insurance at Hertz desk. He said if I didn't take it we would have to wash the car before bringing it back. My wife was very upset. He said there are always extra marks on the car when it's brought back so very unlikely you would get your 820 euros deposit back but pay 162 up front and you don't have to wash it. I've hired cars in many countries over the years I'm 57 now and visit the island often. He even tried to say you have no insurance. I said you couldn't let me take tge car without it so he said OK you only have 3rd party insurance which is all I wanted. I'm back now but still angry as he obviously does it with everyone making lots more money at the customers expense "

I was forced to take out their own CDW and leave an 800 euro deposit on my credit card. I was told that if I had an accident, I would be immediately covered by Gobycar and that I would then have to claim the money back from Auto Europe. This is not acceptable. If you are being forced to take local CDW, this should be clearly stated on the Auto Europe contract otherwise in effect, you are paying twice. I have also been told by Gobycar that the 800 euros will not be refunded to my card until 3 to 5 days after returning the car. Very poor and totally unsatisfactory. "

I made my selection and followed the link to Auto Europe and completed the booking process. When arriving in Fuerteventura I was surprised to find out that the Gobycar desk was off site. There was no clear indication on the paperwork I'd printed out to say that it was offsite or where to get the shuttle bus. Having now gone back into the Auto Europe website I see that it does show that the Gobycar desk is offsite so the error is with the travelsupermarket website. However it would have been helpful if this arrival procedure information was contained in the Auto Europe voucher I'd printed out. "

I provided my passport, driving licence and credit card as required/requested. I did not provide my International Driving Licence (I don't need one as per the UK Gov website). The agent refused to supply my hire vehicle as the UK had left the EU. I contacted AE who concluded the agent was being difficult and awkward and I therefore had to hire an alternative vehicle from Auto Reisen (another AE supplier), with no requirement for an IDP. None of the other airport hire companies required IDPs from UK drivers and no UK drivers I spoke to had one. I have had to contact AE to refund my costs and consequential losses for Breach of Contract. Granted, not AEs overall fault but the disgraceful Gold Car?interrent - again. "

We had a problem after a few days in that oil warning light came on, I phoned the SOS Number supplied and first of all a tow truck came to our hotel but he said he did not have any oil with him and that another mechanic would come out . Later a very nice young man came and he added the required oil and then checked everything out and spoke with me via the translator on his phone this made understanding him very simple. After this the car was back to normal and helped to make our holiday. "

" Unfortunately, I had a bad experience when I tried to pick up the car. There was a technical fault at my credit card provider, which meant a security block could not be put on my card. The only alternative offered was to purchase the Super Relax insurance, which obviated the need for a security block. I'd already paid for extra cover anyway, so that the excess was brought down from 1250 to 450 euros, so wasn't keen to do this, in spite of being pressured by the counter staff. I had to use my wife's card to purchase this, which in itself meant I automatically incurred an extra charge of 30 euros, on top of the extra 240 euros for the extra cover. So a booking for a Skoda Fabia 1.0 ended up costing me £400. I realise the hire car company was not responsible for the card fault, but the extra charges are excessive, and just look like an opportunity to make money. On top of this they also retain a deposit for 115 euros in case you don't return the car with a full tank. Money for nothing. "

Many of the scratches not recorded on the europcar receipt given when picking up the vehicle. 4.) I had recorded on the receipt given before leaving with the car more scratches/dents/etc than there were on the europcar statement of return - this shows that europcar do not inspect their cars thoroughly which is highly unprofessional as customers like me are having to do their work.9) I doubt that all europcar customers are aware or even should have to inspect the cars as thoroughly as I was compelled to do. 10.) I was compelled to check thoroughly becuase a customer in the line at the airport told me that their given car had tyre damage and needed to change it. "

" Dreadful. The staff on the Sixt desk in the airport insisted we paid for additional insurance for the car which we were not expecting and didn't want. I showed them the voucher details from Auto Europe which clearly said that we had an Excess Guarantee with additional coverage for wheels, underside and roof, physical damage coverage and theft waiver. We told them that we had already taken out cover with Auto Europe and didn't require any extra but were told that there we had to pay either "basic" or "full" rate insurance - an additional 22 or 42 euros per day. There were 2 staff on the desk, neither would give us straight answers to our questions and brow beat us by insisting that we had to pay this additional insurance. This is clearly a deliberate strategy, they made the process incredibly complicated and confusing and clearly used the fact that it was late (9pm), we were tired and wanted to get to our holiday resort as soon as possible. The family next to us cancelled their car and took a taxi as they refused to pay the additional 500 euros the Sixt staff were insisting upon! When we picked up the car outside, a female Sixt member of staff told us we did not need to pay the additional insurance, it was optional. We were furious, we knew they were ripping us off, we were just unable to prove it. We are out of pocket now by £148 (including taxes etc) and since I've returned home, I had been appalled by the shocking reviews of Sixt on Trusted Pilot, Trip Advisor etc. by people who have had exactly the same experience. I bitterly regret not researching reviews of this company beforehand and am seriously surprised that you still partner with them, they are clearly happy to scam vulnerable customers late at night with kids in tow in a foreign country. We will be pursuing our complaint vigorously. We are not naive people and are disgusted at being so duped. I will also be reporting them to my bank in case they attempt to take more money out of my account under the ruse of "damages". I've heard that this is another favourite action of theirs. The car incidentally was returned in exactly the same state as when it was picked up with a full tank of petrol. We even spent 10 euros at the garage hoovering it out. "

" This is the 4th occasion I have used Interrent and on each occasion there have been problems over charges, refund of deposits etc. This time I had a problem with the tyre - tyre pressure light came on so I inflated the tyre - later it punctured. I took it to a local tyre service and they showed me the inner tyre wall which had perished and said the tyre had obviously been like that for a while which would account for the pressure drop and the eventual puncture. I returned the car part way through the hire with the puncture and was charged 50 euros (this was deducted twice and I am still awaiting a refund) They also said that I would have to take out a second contract and therefore a second deposit of 1100 euros on top of the original 1200 euros - I am still waiting to see if this deposit has been unblocked. " Few years ago I went to Rome for 3 days. I booked a car from Goldcar with the cheapest option not knowing the real cost of rental. After arriving at Goldcar desk I was informed that I have to pay additional 150€ for 40l of petrol. Massive surprise and just that doubled the cost of my 3day stay in Rome. People at the desk were unpleasant and rude. I had no choice but to pay, it was close to midnight and I had my one year old sleeping in my hands. I promised not to rent from Goldcar ever again. A year later I booked from Rhodium and learning from previous bad experience I booked with option full to full. At the airport I found out that Rhodium and goldcar is the same company. Regardless the fact I bought option full to full I was charged deposit of 130€ for the petrol and promised I will receive full refund after returning of the car. After a week of waiting I received only 100€ back. After arriving at Fuerteventura airport Interent office was closed with information that I should attend to Goldcar office. That sounded like trouble and it was. Even though I paid for full to full and excess insurance I was told to pay deposit for the fuel and a block of 1100€ had to be made on credit card. Unfortunately I had my card stolen and my wife card was not accepted (month earlier we had no problem with that on GranCanaria). I called the office and asked for amendment on main driver to change it to my wife name, I found out it's not possible. I was asked to pay outragously high additional 170€ to be able to rent the car, making total cost of £250 plus deposit for petrol of 66€ . That's over £300 for weeks rental. I left without a car. This extremely unpleasant situation put shadow on the whole stay in Fuerteventura, destroying my family holidays and causing problems in my relationship. I am in the process of seeking legal advice advice on this matter. I would like request a full refund for the rental. Mostly because I was made to believe I was booking the car with different company than Goldcar but at the airport I was told by Goldcar attendant that Interent and Goldcar are the same company. "

After long telephone conversations with various call centres a mechanic looked at it and advised that Sixt should send a new car. When I contacted sixt the next day they refused to send a new car but offered that I could exchange it at the airport. So that meant 180 km drive at my expense because I needed to return the first car with a full tank. I was advised that I would get a discount which will be reflected in the final credit card payment they will take. This never happened, instead I was charged an amount that was higher than I expected. I will not use Sixt again and will certainly not recommend them to others. "

I do not read or speak Spanish. We decided that it was some kind of warning and we'd ask about it at the hotel. We were told the message said that the car had a tyre pressure imbalance and we might have a puncture. We decided to return the car to the airport and exchange it but on the way back the tyre blew out. We rang the helpline number they told us we had no cover and we must change the wheel ourselves. We eventually managed to loosen the wheel nuts but the wheel was rusted on. Eventually we managed to free it and change to the spare. We drove back to the airport and queued up again only to be told that they would not replace the car, we needed to pay another 900 Euro deposit. We asked to speak to the manager. We were subjected to a continuous and slow barrage of up-selling. we denied this several times, but in the end it was clear we would only get our car by accepting an additional 'insurance' we did not need. I thought this 'attrition' sales method was a thing of the past, but obviously not in the car rental business. This delayed our arrival at our villa and spoilt the start of our holiday. To be honest as someone who works in professional sales, I thought the 'at desk' experience was an example of how not to deal with customers and to ensure you never have repeat business. Well done!! "

" Very good. I liked that on this occasion I paid immediately so that Avis only could make a reservation on the credit card. Like all car hire providers, you are not going to get 10 until some basic information can be input in advance of arriving at the hire car desk. Having to try and explain how to input basic information such as your home address at the desk is such a waste of time. "
" As always, it is cheaper to book an Avis car through a company like yourselves than booking directly with them which doesn't make sense to me. Their cars are always good but you pay a small premium for some reassurance from the 'brand'. Normally the premium is much too high "

" You need to clearly show all the costs which will be added when making a booking. I took out zero excess cover and to have the tank full at collection and return. I pay additional costs so as to avoid having to pay at the collection desk, but on this occasion was unhappy with the way Ze Interrent misled me regarding the spare wheel. Maybe you need to get clarification from them on there policies so you can highlight them to your customers, before placing an order. "
" There wasn't anyone at the collection point, so had to wait 10 to 15 minutes for the person to arrive. When she did arrive, she then apologised but needed to then go to Europcar to return some car keys. Once we got served we were informed there isn't a share wheel & if we didn't pay an additional fee of 72 Euros, then we would be charge 350 Euros for any call outs including punctures. We paid the additional cost. When we checked the car did have a share wheel! The total cost of the vehicle was now over £130, so it would have been cheaper to use an alternative supplier. Again when returning the car. The desk was closed & no-one was around. There were 4-5 people waiting to collect their vehicles. After 10 minutes I went to the Europcar desk & asked if I could leave the keys with them as the hire car had an Europcar key fob. They confirmed it was fine to leave the car with them as it was theirs. They gave me a confirmation note that I had left the vehicle with them. I now hope, I don't get charged any costs due to not returning the keys to Ze Interrent. I will not be using them again due to there poor service & for taking additional costs. "

There was no fuss or bother either in collecting or returning the vehicle, car parking at the airport too was most convenient and well appointed. I do always like the 'return full' policy, mechanically the vehicle was also great despite its fairly high mileage. However, a couple of minor concerns ----- it was a little disconcerting to see a damage log for me to have any further I might identify entered and stamped by Avis when I was collecting the car in the dark in a poorly lit car park, I did have a nagging concern throughout in case any were attributed to me. Would prefer to pick up empty as petrol station was only round the corner. Windscreen wash hadn't been filled and was empty when picked up (i felt it was a way for them to make money not to make it easier for the customers). Passenger window would go down but not up from the passenger control - fortunately the drivers side did work. "
