" I have had to raise a case with Europcar. I paid you £170 and confirmed top insurance. At the airport i was told the car I had was too small. So I had to upgrade. I was then told I did not have top insurance. So I had to pay another £482. Now I am back in the UK I am now being charged another £86. The total for 3 days hire in total is now £738. This is no where near my original payment. I appreciate I paid Austria crossing and 2 additional drivers. However I feel I have been ripped off. If you can offer some assistance it would be greatly received. Even the man at Europcar Bristol said it seemed high when I raised the complaint. I'm not a happy customer at the minute. "

" This was a replacement booking for one (with Sixt, voucher UK5218217 ) that I had to cancel because my earlier flight was cancelled. I could not get hold of Sixt at all on the morning of 20 May, and relied on AutoEurope letting Sixt know that I would arrive on a later flight. However, I was told that because the cancellation was at short notice, I would lose all money. As a long-time and regular customr I'm quite appalled at that poor level of service from both AutoEurope and Sixt, especially since you both had the flight details and knew the flight was cancelled. I request a refund for that booking. "

Just as well I took photographs all round the car otherwise I would have been facing a repair bill for one scratch that had not been listed. All of the scratches and marks were very minor. "

The car she allocated to me had a lot of scratch marks listed on the rental sheet. " It is hard to write about Global Rent as having booked with Global, the actual dealings I had were with Europcar. The counter staff at Europcar were very helpful. However, I asked if I could pay the excess waiver (not wanting to incur a significant excess should any damage be caused to the car during the rental) but was told that this would not be needed as I would already have it with Global. I asked twice as I do not believe I had paid for it. As it happens, no damage was caused to the car but I would have been very unhappy had I been charged in such an eventuality. As for the car, there was a fair bit of superficial damage to the car, all of which was recorded on the Europcar documentation. However, the car was basic. "

Called the company to ask whats going on and was told by the operator that there is nothing she could do. After the call I knocked on the door again and managed to get someones attention just to be told again that its lunch time and I can't pick up my car even though my booking was for 1PM. I insisted I needed my car so the person reluctantly let me in and processed my booking with lots of bad attitude and borderline rude. " I was originally allocated a Dacia, which had the be swapped before leaving the airport as the boot wouldn't open. I was reallocated as Peugeot 308 Estate which was fine. I had a very unsatisfactory issue on returning the car when an over zealous check inoperative tried to charge me for a scratch on the rear offside wheel arch that was barely 1 cm in length. Harsh words were exchanged because: 1. It was well inside the permitted size of a scratch 2. The car had been driven straight to a private house with no stops and parked in isolation on a huge drive. after that the car was again driven to a private car park and left in isolation for week before return to the private house;in both those case the car was driven non stop so it was impossible that the vehicle had been scratched during may rental. The operative quickly backed off, saying he wouldn't report it, which I found quite patronising because he was acting outside of his remit and trying to rip me off. Not happy sums up my feelings. I can supply photos if required. I have another booking with Global and Munich Airport on 29 Feb and I will he raising this issue directly with them at the collection desk "

I had absolutely no problem with the car during my two day rental. Now I have received an email from Buchbinder/Global Rental claiming there is new damage to the vehicle. If true, then this damage occurred AFTER I returned the car. I repeat there was no incident while I was driving the car. I am very disappointed and angry that the company had no staff on pick up or on return. At present they are holding my deposit. I have never in my life damaged a rental car and did not this time either. "

" I called Autoeurope to complain and ask for a refund as we did not want to use this rental company anymore, they said nothing could be done until after the rental period which would mean we wouldn't know if we could get a refund. This meant that we had to stick with global rent a car which was something we did not want to do. Although it was easy to reach their helpline, Auto Europe did not help at all to try to rectify the situation at the time when it was needed. Auto Europe also did not provide a confirmation email with the terms and conditions for car rental, which if we had had would have prevented this situation from occurring. "
" I called the global rent 3 hours before I was to collect my car, saying I hadn't received a confirmation email and asking if everything was in order with the booking and if there was anything I should be aware of. They said everything is fine and just to come along and collect the car. Upon arriving we were told that we had to have a passport to collect the car, a term which we had not been made aware of by global rent due to zero communication on their end. We asked to see the terms and conditions and asked how we could have known beforehand, at which point we were shown a small print poster in German a literal crevasse in the corner of the office. We then asked for the terms in English, which they had to then specially find and print out for us as it was not readily available even for the staff. These terms stated that a passport OR an identity card was required to pick up the car. We had an identity card but they still insisted on a passport despite the fact that this was not in the terms and conditions and that the terms and conditions had never been provided to us despite the phone call we had. We had travelled over 2 hours on public transport with a disabled 80 year old to reach the car rental, on our way to visit her extremely sick husband. The employees could see this and her distress and instead insisted on complying to a policy that was not even detailed in their terms and conditions, and which was impossible to access for non-German speakers or anyone who had not yet been in the office. As a result we lost a day with our sick family member, 4 hours in travel (there and back), travel fees there and back, the fee of the car rental for that day and created a lot of unnecessary stress. This is unacceptable and I would like a refund for the car for the day of rental I was denied to use. "

" Firstly we had real issues finding the collection point for the car ad Frankfurt airport is massive. However after 25 minutes of walking with all our luggage, we came across what we thought was the collection point, it was in fact Terminal 1 pickup. The operator on the desk was less than helpful with our current situation. We were a party of 5, one of them was a 15 month old. He suggested I did the paperwork with him then go across to terminal 2 to collect the vehicle, transit time & collection would be 2+ hours. The car being offered (A Ford Courier Kombi) was not the one we requested (A Ford Mondeo Estate), when I questioned this, I was told this was an upgrade, so basically think yourself lucky. I explained we has a ton of luggage which was why we requested and estate car, 'Well we have none' was his reply. However we do have a Ford Edge at Terminal 1, if you want that for €50/day extra, it will also save you the extended time to go across to terminal 2. His attitude and business ethics were questionable at best, he gave us no alternative but to accept the Ford Edge and kept quoting how difficult it would be to get any cars from other dealers as it was late in the day. In the end, in the interests of everyone's sanity I was left no alternative but to pay the extra for the Ford Edge. An issue I will be taking up with Santander. "

" Some experiences that I would like to share. 1. Collecting the car does take a long time. There is always a queue for the counter staff and sometimes we have to wait as long as 1/2 an hour if the persons in front have not pre-booked. Perhaps a designated queue for people who have gone to the trouble of pre-booking should be looked into. 2. Globalrent/Buchbinder have their own app but it doesn't work if I book through Auto Europe. Perhaps a closer link would be better? 3. On this occasion there were small dings/scratches on the vehicle that were not pre-marked on the 'Check Out Report'. I got them recorded prior to leaving the garage but it is an extra hassle when you just want to get away. "

" Have used AutoEurope many times and would recommend it. However some of the more budget rental companies especially from Munich are poor and take a very long time to process - you can be at the car rental desk for an hour - which is very frustrating "

There always seems to be a hike in the price on arrival. I booked a Ford Escort (or similar) and was given a Ford Eco Sport Small SUV and I have a feeling the price increased. This was a good car, but to be honest all I wanted was a Ford Escort and pay the price as advertised when booked on line. The insurance requirements are also unclear at the point of booking. On arrival it is confusing when asked to pay extra for insurance you thought you already had paid for when you booked the vehicle. It appears the hire company can charge what they like for the insurance, and the bigger the car the more the insurance is. I believe you should get the car you asked for, and the price paid includes everything including the option for extra insurance. I was not given an option, pay the fully comprehensive insurance premium and it is taken from your credit card. "

After arriving at the counter to be told that they had a Golf or Focus for us we had a disappointment when, after a lengthy check, they said they'd no Golf and 2 Focuses - both of which were Estates & required an additional charge per day. We refused this and ended up with a Skoda Rapide. This car had many more scratches than they'd documented. We had to spend time getting these documented as I was worried about incurring an excess charge when we returned it. When I complained about the overall service they said it would have been better booking with them direct! Overall a stressful experience especially after a flight when we were tired. "

So this time I checked the car even more thoroughly than normal for damages even though apparently the car had none. " Its a quick way of getting the prices of a range of rental cars from various firms at a price usually lower than through the rental firms themselves. "

And even then, the staff in the car park never showed up, I just took a car seat and located the car on my own. Overall 1 hour wait to get in the car driving away is too long. I will pay slightly more for a better staffed car rental firm with quicker pick up of keys and a proper office in the car park next time. " No issues with Auto Europe, but deeply unhappy with Global/Buchbinder return and sigh off procedure, which was lamentable on the night in question. "
" We returned the vehicle to car rental return area at Munich Airport at 8.30 pm, 17 Feb . We were inside our 7 day rental limit by about 40 minutes. On arrival there was no representative from Global/Buchbinder to inspect the vehicle, sign off, give us a clean bill of health and associated receipt. We waited 30 minutes and no one arrived. Furthermore the general supervisor was rude, ignorant and offered no assistance suffice to safe it could take another 30-40 minutes. In the end i had no choice but to leave the keys on the dash board an check in around 9.00pm bearing mind we were boarding LH2504 at 9.45 pm and had to clear security, passport control etc. Whilst I anticipate there will be no issues I do feel vulnerable to mistreatment and without a receipt my concerns are that i have no control over what happens next, as they may: 1. Seek to charge for a late delivery if they don't get to the vehicle by shortly after 9.00 pm 2. Charge me for a spurious damage claim, when the vehicle was returned in the same condition as at the start of the rental - I have photographic evidence showing the condition of the vehicle on return 3. Charge me for fuel, when we filled the the vehicle to full at the AGIP petrol station on the airport i have used Global twice this year and we had a similar experience in January but managed to get the vehicle checked and signed off on that occasion after a 20 minute wait. The bottom line is that they need to do better. i have a further booking with them on 2 March and if the the return is as bad as last rtime i will not be using them again. "

" Misrepresenting terms of a contract to a lawyer is never a good idea. Told the car was in perfect condition. Even the garage man laughed at that and after 10 minutes had marked the damage. Couldn't get into car so had to get him to climb across and move the car. Reviews warned of this in advance so was very careful having blocked 1000E off my credit card against damage. Still not had confirmation of satisfactory return but spoke to garage man on return who confirmed it was all ok. Felt like a very unscrupulous organisation to deal with and not to be trusted. "

" The counter staff just did not want to help. she would not block £1000 on a debit card and continuously demanded a credit card as she said people in Germany always have a credit card and could not accept a credit card. my husband then offered his credit card but she refused to take it as he was not the driver despite the initial booking being made with the same card. she then said she would be able to take a debit card if i agreed to pay £27 per day extra. with no choice at hand i paid £350 extra. their policy is you must have a credit card, and she would not take my debit card to block the funds. she only took the debit card once i paid for the full insurance £27 per day! "

When I return hire I report the damage to which i am now being held accountable for, i have 3 witness in the car to confirm damage was not cause by me, also my driving was all motorway driving and who ever was driving when this damage occurred would have known. I ask for cameras to be checked as this will prove damage was present before i lifted car. I was told i had cause the damage which i know i did not. I feel this is a money racked and no doubt many customers will be charged for this damage as who ever had check the car before me had NOT recorded this damage. " This has got to be one of the worst experiences I have encountered in a very long time. I booked a car on-line with yourselves on the 7th of Sept., I opted for an upgrade and additional insurance cover. I was advised by a friend to check if payment needed to be by credit card (I was not made aware of this during the booking process) I called your booking office that evening to clarify and was asked to wait while the lady asked for clarification. When eventually I was told a credit card would be required I asked to cancel. I was told I would be charged 100 Pounds! I decided to wait until I got to the booking desk. This call took almost 24 minutes!! When I arrived at Munich Airport I got in a very big queue at your booking desk... There appeared to be very few staff at the desk which was surprising as most people had pre-booked so you would have known how many customers would be arriving and what time they wanted to pick up their cars... 1.5 hours later I was still in a queue, eventually when I got to the desk I was advised that the lack of a credit card was not a problem as I could upgrade the insurance. I was quoted an extortionate fee on top of what I had already paid and when I questioned it the lady at the desk got quite rude. At this stage I had been waiting 1 hour 53 minutes. I decided not to proceed and within 30 minutes I had a car from another rental company for a combined fee less than what your company wanted to charge for insurance alone!! After all this you still had the cheek to charge me for car hire which I never had!! "

" When collecting our pre-booked car we were told that the type we had booked wasn't available, and the substitute proved unsuitable for our needs regarding passengers & luggage so we had to upgrade to a larger vehicle at additional cost, whereas we could have pre-booked a similar vehicle at less cost. This upgraded vehicle proved to be only just large enough to accommodate our needs despite assurances at the counter and one of our family had two uncomfortable journeys to & from our destination. In addition, when dropping car off at airport the person checking the vehicle back in for Global /(Buchbinder) was not readily identifiable and there was a reasonable wait before someone came to look over the car on return. Also we were told we had to go back to the hire desk to obtain a receipt and had a lengthy wait there before someone became available. When we did get to the counter, we were advised that we hadn't needed to come back there but that we could have obtained a receipt from the office in the returns area. This was impossible as there were no staff available there as we had gone there first as on previous occasions when hiring a car at this airport. eventually after some discussion the lady on the desk managed to give us the receipt requested. The process of doing this took a fair while to do which in the past we had not experienced. Fortunately we had plenty of time on this occasion before our flight departed but if we had been in a hurry this would have been more distressing. "

It would have been interesting to have seen what ' Global Rent- A- Car ' would have done if we had said that we didn't want it. Not as if they would have been able to switch it off ! This felt like sharp practice and detracted from the overall value of the product and service. "

However, we were confused and disappointed to be told that we had to pay an addition amount for a navigation system - 8 euros and 40 cents per day - for something which came as standard with the vehicle I.e. it had an integral satellite navigation system which of course we could have chosen not to use but which was available to us as a standard accessory with the make and model of vehicle we had chosen. This was. This would seem like ' sharp practice' and I feel we need to point this out to any future customers on your site to warn them of this additional and we feel, unjustified cost. My husband said OK but we ended up with a Renault Clio - no explanation given. " My comments above explain the experience, and even worse was that we had a fairly old car. It had scratches on it that were not on the original documents but which were added at the point of collection. Whilst driving the car, the engine management light came on, and when I emailed the collection desk at Düsseldorf, they simply replied telling me I should take it to my nearest Global office for inspection. They did not arrange for an emergency service agency to come and have a look. There is NO way that I shouldn't be expected to drive to them, when their vehicle was faulty. They should have either arranged an emergency or local garage to come and have a look, or arranged to bring out a replacement vehicle. Again another example of Global Germany, not caring about or contemplating customer service as an essential part of trading. "
" The experience here was in marked contast to the treatment we received in Vienna. We arrived earlier that we had booked the card for, we were told in no uncertain terms that the card would not be available for a further hour( or at our reserved time), There was no suggestion that it would be any sooner as we had arrived early, and we were also told that there were no other cars available even an offer of an upgrade, and in fact were told there was NO chance. The whole team on the check in desk was pretty surely and not in any way welcoming, or apologetic for needing to wait. We did try going back a little earlier than our hours wait, but we're again told to go away as the car would not be available any earlier as it needed to be cleaned. Eventually one of the team went over to the car park where cars are collected, and said he was going to collect keys. This took longer that the walk we had to make to eventually collect our car. The treatment here was very very poor, and customer service and welcome smiles are completely missing. I would NEVER, NEVER make a booking with Global/Buchbinder in Dueesldorf or in Germany. The way we were treated was awful, and someone should be told they need to go on some form of welcome/ customer service training. In contast our treatment in Austria was exemplary, and I would recommend Global to anyone in Austria, but NEVER in Dusseldorf, and in fact would recommend anyone who asked to avoid them like the plague "

" I will not be booking with you again. I took out full insurance at extra cost and have STILL yet to receive my deposit back. It's been 6 weeks. There was no damage to the car and i have a receipt to prove it. There is no reason for my deposit to be held and the level of customer service in relation to this issue has been appalling. Numerous times i have had to send the same email just to get a response which is always "We are looking into it." I've had enough. This is beyond a joke and simply not acceptable. Will be avoiding at all costs in the future and will be telling friends and family to do likewise "

" Counter staff a bit slow and there were long waiting times. On drop off we were told that we had to return our infant car seats to the counter which was not correct and caused a lengthy delay as there was a long line at the counter. "
