In a car of this terrible condition I told her that it would have certainly been marked already. She denied this and walked off. GoldCar then went on to charge me £250 for damages that I in no way caused! I have had previous bad experiences with this company and thought that I could save a few pounds by using them and taking pictures of the car - but in the end they still managed to rip me off. I explained I had additional cover already purchased from the UK and he told me I'd wasted my money, then proceeded to tell me that the amount to be blocked would be double what Auto Europe had said unless I took out the Relax Insurance. He made a long list of monetary items that I would be expected to pay - trying to intimidate me to pay the 22euros per day relax insurance. He also told me the amount blocked would be for the period of rental plus 30 days unless I took out the Relax insurance. We ordered a small car with AC but got a Fiat Panda without AC - and was told the extra amount blocked was because we had a bigger car - this was their car choice for us, not ours! When we dropped the car off, the drop off point had changed - another few minutes in the car. Whilst it was efficient at drop off - more signage would have been helpful to avoid wasted time before catching the flight home (it was a longer walk to the terminal). I have yet to receive an email with the sign off from Goldcar confirming this booking but they confirmed that all was good. "

Again the rental advisor at gold car was not happy and tried to say I was not covered apart from collision damage. I must take out the additional cover for dent scratches etc. When I said it was not needed he said they would block my card for 39 days for €1600 as there would no doubt be damaged caused to the vehicle. He then decided I could not have the vehicle unless I paid for the Tom Tom gps. He knew I would be stranded at the airport as the other rental offices at the airport were closed. I told him he was ripping me off, and I had no choice but to pay the additional cost. As my hotel was an hour and half away and a taxi would have cost absolutely fortune. I explained I would be complaining on my return on my satisfaction survey, but he was not bothered. He then said as yoh have paid for Tom Tom I shall give you the additional debts and cover insurance for free. This means when you drop cat back it does not need to be checked and you have paid for additional cover. I was very dissatisfied and felt ripped off. I am still waiting for the final confirmation from gold cover to confirm rental agreement ended without any more charges. Avoid avoid avoid "

" The gold car team performed very well under busy circumstances at Dubrovnik airport. They did a hard sell on insurance for "super relaxed cover" etc which gives better piece of mind if the car gets damaged or scraped etc . Possibly all the car hire firms push this so it's common with all hiring companies. We ordered a compact car but were basically forced to take an upgrade as the size of car we ordered was not available, this annoyed us as we specifically ordered the smaller car for ease of parking and driving in built up areas. The basic hire cost on auto Europe was very competitive however with insurance add ons for taking the car into Montenegro and the insurance cover, etc the overall price of renting the vehicle was not in my opinion any great bargain "

" When completing the paperwork at the airport I was asked to pay an additional insurance. I declined this as I understood no further insurance was needed. The counter staff tried to get me to agree and when I didn't reduced the payment and again said I need this insurance, and continued to push for this payment. In the end I had to agree to be able to get away and start my holiday. "

" Since dropping off the car on 28/09, I received an email from Goldcar claims titled "Solicitud datos accidente, contrato 14510056, matricula ZG5401FZ", stating we had been involved in an accident and requesting a form to be completed. This is not true and we handed the car back in the same condition as when we rented. The Goldcar rep advised me this was the case and the deposit would be automatically refunded. This has not happened. I have now emailed Goldcar twice but have had no response. Pease could this be investigated and resolved asap. "

" Dear Sirs, I cannot rate Gold Car as I was unable to collect the vehicle. It was booked for 10pm and we arrived at the desk at 10:06 to find it shut. I called the number on the window with no answer. I also called yourselves with no answer. We spoke to the other agent in the adjoining booth who advised that the lady in Gold Car actually left to go home at about 9:30pm. " As our flight was late we thought we would be late to pick up the car so we rang Autocar twice before our flight to inform about it. Both advisors informed that they would contact goldcar to let them know and confirmed they had done it. However once we arrived, goldcar informed us they had never received anything from Autocar about that, i find it really unprofessional to lie to clients and try to make them pay a 40£ fee for late pick up when goldcar actually does it for free... this was my first booking with you and I'll not be using you again "
